Yes every time I have ordered they want to know my prescription, I guess it helps them get the right glasses for your actual eyesight,

My humble apologies, I guess I need to make it more clear to some people.

Does this company ask to see a hard copy of your prescription to verify that your prescription was inputted correctly and that it's in date?

Thanks need this !!!

Where's good for clear lense glasses?

What's the difference between these and glasses from specsaver, etc? Other than the price, of course

Very little in my experience. I have about 25 pairs from here, speckfoureyes, goggles4u and various others, no major issues.

No, just input the numbers from the boxes

I don't need glasses, but great price from a UK retailer, and some of the styles are actually quite nice (unusual to tick all these boxes) Goggles4U are still my preferred website but you really need to dig around to find what you like...

Most opticians nowadays will give you your prescription if you ask for it (Specsavers gave me mine in a card, with name, dob, prescription for contact lenses and glasses).

Mind you, I asked a very snotty Tesco optician a few years back (they've now been taken over by Vision Express) and she didn't give it to me!! Her demeanour noticably changed when I said I was going to buy spectacles online....

Not sure about this website but Goggles4U simply ask you to input the details yourself and you specify which optician (or storefront) you visited, and which date....

She was horrible. I then found out months later (when me, my brother and his wife went shopping there) that she actually went to Uni with my sister-in-law!! I never went back.

Specsavers, on the other hand, are always brilliant. They even adjust all your glasses for you (though I wouldn't take the mick, only if they needed expert attention).

To be fair, I might be remembering wrong, I think it was certain aspects of my prescription she wouldn't give me, like my PD (Pupillary Distance) - though I worked it out myself. Hard to do when you're very short-sighted, though!

Not an expert but I'm gonna hazard a guess and say "opticians"

Thank you very much. I have been looking for a cheap spare pair to keep in the car and these are perfect, as they come with clip on sunglasses and I'm always forgetting to take my sunglasses with me. They also do an aviator style version for anyone else interested.

Clip on sunglasses isn't exactly the trendiest thing in the world but these look pretty good, and I couldn't care less!

Thanks OP! Just ordered 6 pairs...a whole bunch of styles I'd like to try, but not quite sure of so for the equivalent of £4.50 each, why not!

NB Postage increases with each pair you add, but DPD next day courier service seems fixed at £8.95 so was cheaper to select that than the £10.70 royal mail

If you mean fashion glasses with no prescription I saw an option to select that when ordering.

You have the option to send a copy of your prescription to check, but you can just enter the info yourself.

I previously bought some glasses from selectspecs delivered for £10 and now I've noticed that they're not as good as they used to be.
I wonder if they will replace them?

Other than that the glasses still look as good as new and they are very comfortable.

Edit: sorry ignore my comment, I looked on my selectspecs account and I bought them in November 2011.
Perhaps my prescription has changed since them

What a great idea, I ordered 4 pairs last night, never even considered sunglasses! Just called up, and the nice lady has let me add a pair of these clip-ons to my order too

That's great. Good to know their customer service is good too. These are much cheaper than the cost to add a tint and easier than 2 separate pairs.

Yeah I want to feel like Clark Kent instead of superman sometimes
I'll have a look

Never heard of photochromic lenses before but they sound very useful, sadly I've no idea which of all those frames would look ok so I guess I'll have to go into a shop

Unfortunately they don't have the feature to try the frames on a photo like goggles4u do, I usually used them until this offer. The first time I got glasses online I tried on various styles on in a shop and worked out which shape, style and colour suited me best, then I measured an old pair of glasses to get the correct size frames. If still wanted to try maybe you could measure some old glasses or sunglasses to get size and either find style in shop or use photo on gloggles4u or similar to see which style you like.

From the T&Cs:

....The contract is between you and HK Optics Limited (a company registered in Hong Kong under company number 2167060) trading as “SelectSpecs” (“we” or “us”)....

So it looks like you might not have any protection under UK law.

I found this out the hard way with goggles4U when a metal frame that was a couple of months old just snapped whilst I was standing in a checkout queue and an expensive, photochromic lens fell out and cracked on the floor. Their response went along the lines of, oh that's a pity. Do you want to buy another pair?
Edited by: "fablanta" 8th Dec

thanks OP. just ordered 11 pairs of glasses for £42 inc DPD delivery

Even if I only get one pair that I like it'll still be a good deal compared with the high street!

Bloody hotukdeals...
