Just had my eyes tested thanks

I bought two pairs from googles4U, the 1st pair failed within 6 months - the plastic lens broke - and the other pair failed within the same sort of time frame, when one of the arms came off. Poor quality and these people do not comply with British consumer laws. The refused to refund me for the 1st pair so I did not bother to ask them about the 2nd pair. I will not buy from them again.

For this price I'm going to take a punt. They'll do for the match - sick of getting drunk and losing pairs worth £100+

Does anyone know of any good offers on polarised prescription lenses? Specsavers want £60 on top of the price of the glasses.

I bought two pairs for ten quid to test out this company about 8 months ago and I have to say I couldn,t be more pleased.
Ordered two more of the cheapies recently and splashed a bit more out on some blue tinted shades and they are perfect..

Anyone know anywhere to get prescription aviator sunglasses at a good price?

Thanks OP, and heated.
Goggles4U do have a 8.5/10 rating on TrustPilot from 1700+ reviews, so not a terrible company by any means but if you do read some of the poor reviews a thread emerges of poor customer service if there is a problem. Then again a review has been posted by someone who had got the prescription wrong, received the glasses, phoned Goggles4U up and were immediately sent two replacement pairs free of charge and even been asked to keep the first pair.

I have a couple of decent pairs of glasses for work but for home/ weekends I tend to use the cheapo pairs I have bought over the years from HK based ZenniOptical, the largest supplier of optics globally - their basics range starts at $17 delivered and I've always found them to provide fantastic customer service (usually receive an order within a week). Now it appears there are UK based vendors beating those prices. Incredible.

I mostly wear contact lenses and only wear glasses in the evening or on the odd day to give my eyes a rest. Didnt seem worth spending hundreds. I have been ordering from these lot for years now. I have loads of pairs here there and everywhere just in case. The things to bear in mind is :-

1) they arent £100 a pair so dont try comparing them to ones that are.
2) They are made abroad, bulk shipped to the UK and then posted out to you. This could end up taking a while (around 2 weeks in total).
3) For the price, you really cant go wrong.

Good deal - heat given

Also check out Selectspecs.com - I've had 2 pairs from them around £20 delivered - Cheap ones from £6.95 but delivery £3.95 but you can order 2 pairs for this - Wearing them now and have done for some time

I have ordered about 6 pairs from googles4u in the last year the quality has been good for glasses under £10,and resonable shipping of about 2 weeks.Normally ship from a uk address too.

Use discount code FREESHIPPINGUK to get this for £6.95 delivered! Thanks OP.

Ummm let's think about this. A pair of glasses for less than £10 lasting 6 months OR local glasses for £100 where after a year I keep getting pestering letters to upgrade after 1 year.

Boy that decision is hard!

anyone know how much a cheap eye test is ,:)

I've got quite a wide head, and I'm trying to find a big pair, when I go to refine search theirs a parameter called pd, with the results in mm, can anyone explain this ?

I've used Glasses direct, Goggles4u and local optitions (not one of the big chains).

My main pair come the local optitions but they are lightweight photochromic varifocals, and while not certainly not cheap its the pair I wear daily so need to be right. I've tried putting my prescription into the cheap places, and pick a similar frame, lens and coatings (however it is hard to tell the build quality from a picture) and It works out I'm paying about £100 more than an online place, and to be honest while I'd rather not pay more, they offer fantastic after sales service and its worth it to me.

For the cheap online places I use for "spares" with the single vision prescription only, rather than the local place. It means I can leave a current prescription pair in the car, and if I damage my main pair I can drive home. I also have a few pairs of sunglasses in my current prescription, a few at home, one in the car for the same reason, frankly I don't care if they get scratched, lost or damaged at that price..

End of the day while my local high street optitions have a higher mark up they offer me better service, and I'll pay for that to some extent, but the cheap online places let me have a few spares dotted around.

Pd - is pupil distance ( the distance between the centre of your eyes - nothing to do with total head width.

Mrs onlybreduced is forever putting her glasses down and then disparing at the misplacement
my solution to this inconvenience was to buy loads of cheap pairs from this company
have found the quality quite acceptable although delivery is quite slow but worth the wait
if you are expecting 20gbp quality for less than a tenner look elsewhere
have some heat

Also - just a note to all - alot of the spectacles you are saying are £100 + are sometimes no better or worse made than these frames at 6.95! I repair glasses on a daily basis, It's shocking the quality of some "Designer frames".!! I have no review for this company as posted but they aren't really making much money on the total cost here.

I'd say it is worth a try, they are basic lenses but its a basic price!

Just try and avoid plastic hinged components - very annoying.

Went to vision exprrss. They don't give you the pd dimensions so how can I get this? Apparently these guys get them from Pakistan. The frames in Pakistan are decent, I js seem to get on with the lenses as I end up throwing them. Although my cousin has around 10 pairs and loves em

I bought 2 pair from here for £16 three years ago and I have still got them.

Put 'how to measure PD' into a search engine - easy! zennioptical.com/mea…hic
Have had many pairs from goggles4u, not all perfect but mostly good, and at the price .......

PD stands for pupiliary distance. The pupillary distance is the distance between the centres of the pupils of the two eyes. This should be the same as the distance between the centres of the lenses of your spectacles otherwise the settings of the lenses will be incorrect possibly causing eye strain and headaches. It is not included in most prescriptions (in Scotland) and you have to ask the optician/optometrist for that. They normally do that measurement when they are fitting you with the frames you have chosen with a little ruler type thing.

is there a way to select a bigger size

Bargain for some spares thanks

Free if your company pays for it. Ask them. If you use a computer for work you also get upto £50 voucher every year too.

Thanks op need a new pair of glasses
Just need to find my prescription to remember what strength or see if specsavers will tell me over the phone

Thanks, got a pair for £6.95 delivered

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious here, but I can only apply one code at the checkout, so it's either free shipping or the 20% discount. Is it possible to apply both?

Not sure that's quite true in all cases. My El Cheapo £10 ones are really light and plasticky, and the build to cost quality shows. From the ones I've had I'd say you are looking at the £30-40 upwards frame price to match the build quality of the £100 on the high street sort of price mark.

As has been said at £10 completed and delivered they are never going to be the best, but what are you expecting?

Cheers OP,

Just got a rimless pair of glasses and a second pair of glasses including a medium black tint to use as sunglasses for less than £25 delivered worked out better value to use the 20% coupon (SALE20)

I had a pair of rimless glasses from this site a few years ago which lasted me long enough to need a new sight test, went to the opticians to find out how much it would cost to change the lenses and he quoted me £150+ because it would require thin lenses (like were already in place) he was speechless when I said they cost me £23 told me in all honesty he couldn't beat that price ever on any of the cheapo frames in the shop, I still have the frame somewhere brilliant build quality probably just old/bankrupt stock from somewhere as they don't sell them anymore

Good for you.

Goggles4U are well worth it, if you're prepared to hunt. I have lots of pairs from there now - two that were originally from Zenni for considerably more (at the time) and a pair of tortoiseshell Clubmaster knockoffs that amaze people when I tell them the price!

They also deal with complaints well, in my experience. Don't know what's happening with the sunglass tints though - I always ordered brown and that is what I got. Recently they sent out amber lenses - I complained via Live Chat, and the replacement was also orange. Gave up after that!

If you have issues with Zenni Optical (their closest competitor), rather bizarrely, they post out replacement frames and tell you to get them glazed - according to their FB page, anyway.
