I used a black permanent marker on the heatsink on my mobius, do the same with this and it becomes all black.

Don't waste money on a 720p dashcam, when 1080p cams are available for a similar price.

For the same money from a reputable seller (not an ebay or cheap cheap branded one)

Can you turn off the night LEDs? Just wondered because they often just reflect off the glass and cause glare in night shots - they are practically useless additions, they wouldn't illuminate the road in the slightest..
Good price those though, glad to hear they are working still

Avoid if you can, I had one and was terrible, most cheap dash cams have a tiny tiny battery, they cut out or loop on start up if you've not got the correct amount of power.

Totally! I should have posted it as a HOT deal! 'I swear down' it was that price when I bought it yesterday! But seriously, they have gone up in price about £12 over the last year (bought mine for £32); I suspect this is on the back of their rising popularity for being a cut above the rest. 1080p excellent night vision without the pointless IR LEDs, no pathetic WIFI feature and although they have the equally dumb GPS and prevent rewriting over section of video which have large "g-shocks" they do capture the footage between clips that other devices miss out. The last 2 seconds from one clip will be duplicated in the first 2 seconds of the next clip). I've tested it upto 64GB cards and the footage is clear enough to pull a reg plate travelling +/- 10mph relative to you at 15metres.

OK, better get all of these insurers to change their websites then:

90 degree view angle is very low. Should look for those around 120+

I saved £50 on mine, and my mobius cost me £46, no-brainer...
Agree not all insurers offer a discount yet, but some do.

Remember these 99 percent of the time plug into the cigarette lighter socket and it's not unknown for the plug to come out by accident and you don't notice it for a while. If you actually contract with your insurer that it will provide footage in a claim, could be dodgy if you can't.

Or an even better idea, don't buy this camera and put a few more quid in and buy the far superior Mobius!

Just buy a A118 dash cam, very discreet, wide angle lense and fantastic picture quality. With a little bit of reserch can be hard wired in.

Soo many Dash cams around at the moment that are much better value/quality for the money that also record in 1080p ( you want more quality for the money right lol )
Mobius is a good cam. 1080p http://www.banggood.com/Mobius-New-Version-Wide-Angle-Lens-C2-1080P-HD-Mini-Action-Camera-p-985644.html

Its not a lot of work to add a proper circuit though and hardwire one in to a switched feed other than the cig lighter.
Most (all?) are USB power, you just need a 12V to USB adapter and a fuse tap then route the cable as desired - which you would probably do with putting one in a cig lighter socket anyway to get it up high.

- check fuse size first though as some cars use standard size, others use mini fuses.

Never had an issue with any of ours. They do only have around 30 seconds of battery; but why would you need it? It plugs into the cigarette ligher and turns on when you turn your engine on, off when you turn it off. Been recording on a loop now non stop for over 25,000 miles and still going strong with a 32GB card.

I've got an EPrince (ebay). Wired in separately via the radio (as my cigarette lighter is always on - Volvo)
We had an accident in Aug and as soon as I told her insurance I had it they admitted liability, didn't even ask for the footage
I've since renewed my insurance and when I added I had it they took £50 off my renewal (£202 swiftcover)

For that money, go for a mobius, much better for the money. Here's a couple of photos of mine mounted with a magnet behind my rear view mirror.

Generally there is a menu option for a daylight or night mode. Flick to daylight mode.

I use my Mobius which I think is awesome, The camera I have mounted in the rear is a cheap one but the Mobius is able to record really good video through a tinted window at night. I really rate Mobius. MY BIGGEST CONCERN is the heat generated by the heatsink, when recording on busy roads the heatsink gets REALLY hot, enough to burn! I am worried about battery consumption as Ford's have a constant live 12v port. I do often leave it plugged in if I am only stopping for short periods.

Sure using a magnet doesn't cause any problems internally?

As the OP of the deal I saw this and the other 1080p camera as cheap alternatives to the cack from eBay which often doesn't have the stated specs, comes with no warranty and if there is a problem little Ting-Pang in China ain't going to care. It costs him pennies to send it here but see how much it costs to return it.

PEROSNALLY these should be standard in cars along with black boxes that new drivers use. The number of accidents and deaths would nose dive and people know that the footage can be played back.

Look at this **** face (warning video contains swearing), now look at his face when he sees the video and plod come knocking. Its not be filming btw, although if it was APC LOFTS in Manchester would have a bent and crumpled van!

I did check before using a magnetic mount, and yes it's fine. I believe electronics aren't affected these days, it's more about old tube TVs etc that would be affected. Modern day electronics are OK from what I've read.

Yes the heatsink gets hot, but never had a problem with mine. I did have issues with it when using tanscend memory cards, it didn't seem to like them, but any others I use have been fine.

I have seen that video on Facebook with the APC Loft incident. Not very clever driving like that with the company name sprawled all over the van!!

Does this unit have g sensor that saves files following a collision, so they cant be written over?
