Update 1
Now £769 using code KD55XF9005... Black Friday rules!
£100 price drop on this great telly from Sony BRAVIA. With a stunning 4K UHD picture, all the apps you'd expect on a tv of this calibre. I like BRAVIAs and have one in my front room, this seems like a great price for a mid-range TV.

When it first came out it was £1699, so for much less than half price only a year later, this is a steal. With a five year warranty too!

Read a review here: trustedreviews.com/rev…005

"The 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme will be able to deliver a beautiful and realistic picture all thanks to its 40% more processing power than the original 4K Processor X1.

Enjoy superb picture quality thanks to clusters of LED's accurately controlled for incredible contrast. The combination of X-tended Dynamic Range PRO and our Full Array LED Backlight delivers XDR Contrast 6x greater than our conventional LED TV's.

Whether you are watching your favourite football team, or the latest blockbuster movie on the big screen, X-Motion Clarity will give you a smoother picture all without sacrificing brightness levels, meaning details and colour are accurately retained, even in fast moving scenes.

The TV uses a world of content, apps and games brought to your living room and with our voice remote function, you simply press the mic button and tell Android TV what you want to see.

Last of all, a sleek, tempered finish to the dark aluminium bezel and elegantly angled L-shape stand will be able to make this TV a strong design statement, whilst still blending into the living room space. It's also the perfect match in both style and form for its counterpart Sound bar the XF9000."

Brilliant TV! I chose this over an oled TV due to worrying about burn in because of bad TV habits with my family.

Bought it in May and I'm still in awe with the picture quality.

Android TV is another perk. Ignore those who say it is slow. Don't expect blistering fast speed but it runs well and has the perk of running Android apps like VPNs, iptv etc.

You won't regret buying it if it is in your budget.

I would also like to add that the TV upscales standard definition TV really well compared to other TV manufacturers.

The problem when buying a 4k TV is that standard definition channels would look like c*** but this does it really well due to it's processor

1000 nits HDR. Waiting for 65 inch to be reduced. HOT
Got this TV last year black Friday for £999.
About as close as to an Oled as you can get bar the Samsung Q90R, which is almost double the price.
Come on price drop for 49" version.
I have this in the living room unbelievable price and one of the best sets around unmatched for price.
So a good all round tv then ? What’s the interface like a review on there said it’s laggy ?
I have the 49 inch version, it's ace

Runs decent on android 8. youview a little slow but if you can put up with that the picture is amazing when put into the correct mode
So, this ?

XG8196 is far inferior - Edge-lit LED (no local dimming), IPS panel (lower contrast compared to VA), no Dolby Vision, inferior processor, only 60Hz panel so inferior motion.

It will have better viewing angles though.

If you can afford the extra 200, just get the XF9005. There is no contest.

Out the box is a bit slow but once you delete some of the unneeded apps it runs near perfect.

Cheers, it's for my mother so not too fussed on some of the specs but she will definitely not like restricted viewing angles. She only watches through her sky box anyway so no overkill needed

Nits? What are they and why are they important?
This or the samsung Q70???
Thanks Akira Cat, I've been waiting for this tv to come down a lil more for a while.
Also, JL have price matched this tv and they offer a 5 year guarantee with the tv and also if per chance you can find a better price for the tv within 28 days of purchase then they will refund difference so that should cover you if the price drops anymore tomorrow, full info here

This TV is also eligible for 2x 4k HDR Movies for free via GooglePlay Movies, info here.

Awesome, was annoyed I didn't go for the offer a month ago for £824+£125 john lewis voucher, but for £799 it's not too bad, 28 days price match will definitely come in handy
Was hoping this was the XG9050.... Wish that would drop 🤞
Almost perfect but input lag is very high about 41ms in game mode according to this website:
flatpanelshd.com/rev…866

Not great for gaming.

That's why I went for the samsung Q70.... gaming mode is awesome.

Q70 all day long.....I have XF9005 and Q70......Sony is nice picture but operating system is awful, remote is awful, it's infrared compared to Bluetooth on Samsung ........

Term used for brightness. The higher, the brighter. Peak brightness is measured with just a small part of the screen, not the entire thing.

Nice TVs, but the interface is just awful. Not just slow but a pain to navigate. Even the cheapo manufacturers have started to copy a Samsung style 'bar' now, Sony's menus are massive and messy.
Bring back the Xross interface!
You can get this for £779 (TV20 Code), with 6 years warranty from Richer Sounds.

Edit: Richer sounds price matched Hughes for 769 and got 6 years warranty too.

My Dad has this, I have the B8 LG OLED. This is a great TV at this price, overall the OLED picture is in another league though. The LG operating system is way better too.

Before anyone asks no OLED burn in on mine so far, I dont use mine in any special protective way either, just dont anything stupid like pausing for an hour.

I would say the Sony looks better for general viewing especially watching BBC iPlayer shows like peaky blinders. I have the C9 which is a better TV especially for gaming and OS. but sony when put into cinema pro which is the most accurate out of the box is incredible

Why would you ignore those that say it’s slow?

I have one and it’s terrible. Really sluggish despite upgrading to the latest firmware.
If at Currys it is £799 and TCB of 15% doesn't it bring it to £680? I'm new to TCB.Am i missing something?
great tv... mate bought this from Currys for £999 2 months ago... came in faulty with black lines all over screen.. took it back for full refund and purchased same model for £829 from Richer Sounds couple of days later.

great picture... blacks much deeper than 2 samsung qled tvs that were standing side by side... these were very bland...
Any gamers chime in on how they feel about this? Input lag sounds bad and not all HDMI slots are full fat. I was seriously considering this instead of a b9 oled to save some dosh. Or i get the new 49 version?
Those legs are horrendous.

I have a Sony Bravia for gaming, in gaming mode it was one of the fastest you could get, it's 5 year old now though and I haven't looked since, but you can go on hdrtest and get the numbers. This one shouldn't be any different.

Depend on what resolution you playing, its 1080p60 Hz at 40.9 ms 1440p/4K60 Hz at 24ms, if you running at 120mhz its 15ms. input lag is pretty good unless you game at 1080p60Hz, and even then you are unlikely to notice. Its the best TV you get at this around price by far

But if you are not worry about burned it i did get the C9 since its much more future proofed with HDMI 2.1 and pic quality.

Im considering this. Has it tracked? Also, have you got any experience of Curry's 5 year guarantee before? If its all sound that would be a great deal.

See I can afford the b9 and hdmi 2.1 feels useful.

I'd be connecting a soundvar via arc (whichever hdmi that is) a ps4 Pro a switch and a chrome cast ultra.

Although I'm guessing you can load emulators etc on the android OS which sounds super tempting
