I posted this 3 weeks ago when it dropped to £799.99; it has NOW dropped to £759.99! This is currently the cheapest price it has ever been in the UK.

This has the extended SONY warranty for 3 years.

It's an excellent TV for connection to your PC, text is readable from 6ft away, bluray is flawless, no noticable lag in games.

You could thank him for looking all that up for you, you know.

Hi,

1. Could someone please tell me where the product was manufactured, ie spain, japan, malaysia or some other country?

2. does the 3 year warranty work outside the UK too?

Thanks a lot

thanks for finding that for me

Thanks HedgyHoggy. Nice one.

The Media made it up to scare us all! :-D

But seriously do you actually know anyone who is genuinely affected by this so called Recession? I sure dont.

did sony not downgrade the quality of these screens or something? i had planned to buy one of these and was about to pull the trigger when the price came down to about the £850 mark but read that the screens were nowhere near as good as they used to be?

we are currently in the bull trap of the recession, 2 years from now and everyone will be in the do-do, iceland style. Buy gold not chinese tat with badges that say sony - think of your future before it's too late.

might have been the lowest price in the UK a week ago, when it was posted.
there are now various merchants selling it for less (with 3 year warranty too). for example:
cheapelectricals.co.uk - £736.98 incl.del.
prcdirect.co.uk - £743.80 incl.del.
and a few others..

I'm not getting a bonus or a payrise this year, my mother lost her job (she did get a new better job though)

I just googled it and found it at Digital Direct for £739.01 with a free 4 year gaurantee!!

I'm currently paying 2.74% on the mortgage so the 37" version of this TV was paid for in 3 months in interest saved.

There is a recession but the media have snowballed it into worse than it should have been. House prices are moving again so confidence will hopefully follow.

BTW, The 37" version of this TV is V V nice.

Interest rates - 0.5% with tracker mortgage
Credit card - 18 months Interest free credit..... Spend, Spend, Spend....

Dixons also had this last week (cos my mate at work bought one) for £745 which also includes the 3 year warranty...

Hmm have you ever heard of Woolworths or Zavi???

a couple of months ago i would have gone for this, but then i found out how cheap panasonic's 1080p plasmas are, and how superior they are in picture to pretty much anything else under £1000

BUT, if i was going to hook this up to PC for windows use then yeah, go LCD

Hmm, seems to be cheaper elsewhere, anyone seen anything similar from play.com?

I purchased one of these 3 months ago from Amazon at £782. Absolutely amazing tv, works flawlessly with PS3 and WDTV units. Freeview looks great, very sharp and clear. No issues whatsoever & very very happy with it!

If you have the cash, also suggest grabbing a Sony RHT G500 speaker stand for it. Exact same width and looks gorgeous together as a unit in your living room. Speakers on there are great too, has optical output and recently dropped price from £500-mark to around £315 at Currys.

I'll give it a miss, its not 2160p :whistling:

On the What HiFi reviews the W series always gets 4 out of 5 stars due to the back lighting.

I bought one of these about a month ago from the Sony Centre in Brighton. I got it for £800 and it came with a Blu-ray player and was delivered to Oxford.

This TV is truly incredible for XBOX and PS3 gaming, which is what I mainly use it for, have yet to try a Blu-ray movie yet as i sold the player and am buying a PS3 with the money :-D. Standard definition is much better than I thought it would be and I don't regret a penny of the £800 price tag. One thing to watch for with these ones is the uneven backlighting on blacks in dark rooms, apparently it's ment to settle down but if you have a fiddle with the settings you can usual get rid of it

Bad management does not make a recession. Any shop selling stuff like games, DVD's and music at full RRP deserves what it gets......;-)

I've been looking for the 37" version to come down (37w5500)
The lowest price I have found it for is £705 from digitaldirect

Would love the 40" but don't have the space.

Anyone seen it for a better price?

only because you do not know these companies, doesn't mean that it is more risky to buy from them than from amazon. I haven't bought anything from these two retailers, but your way of thinking (rather: not thinking) is wrong.

BTW if you were not so lazy, you would check that these two companies have been on the market for a long time, longer than Amazon.com, and their deals have appeared on HUKD website in the past.
- Cheap Electricals: Date of Incorporation: 29/03/1994
- PRC Direct: Date of Incorporation: 06/03/1980
- Amazon.com was founded in 1994 and launched it online in 1995.

I brought from digital direct about 6 to 8 month's ago & had so much trouble with them that i ended up cancelling & going to Amazon instead!!.:x
Sometimes it's not a good idea to go for the cheapest mate!!, I also am looking for a KDL37W5500 bravia as i'v just moved & my KDL32V'S are to small so if you find a good deal can u let me know??
cheers

it was a flippant comment saying they popped up last year and it seems you have no experience of them either so i fail to see what you wanna pick an argument with me for....... but i will happily respond

i simply asked who are these companies?

ive been alive for quite a while now and ive never heard of these companies so.....obviously they are doing something wrong if amazon started after them and is worldwide known....plus the fact amazon has customer service second to none.....definitely worth paying a few quid extra for peace of mind imo

how is my thinking wrong exactly?.... as many people would agree if youre gonna spend £800 on a tv i wanna make sure the company is still gonna be around in 2/3 years if i have a problem with it:roll:

youre the person who takes the cheapest route and would be first creating a thread about how your tv is bust and so is the compant thay supplied it to you......what should i do? pffttt
