Cracking deal.
Do I bite? Need to replace my Smart Ultra 6
This is the dual sim version as well by the looks of it. Really strong deal. The single sim goes hot at £149 normally. Strong deal.
Thanks

Do I bite? Need to replace my Smart Ultra 6

Are you me? I'm literally sitting here hoping my Smart Ultra 6 holds enough charge to get me through the next few hours and this deal is tempting me to finally ditch it. It's served me incredibly well for the price I paid, only started to fail on me in the last month or so.
Seen reports that the dual sim version does not have NFC so best to double check if that's important to you.
Descirption on Amazon indicates NFC:

  • Dual Sim Amazon Exclusive - Huge 4,000 mAh battery with Turbo Power charger included providing hours of power in just minutes of charging (Micro USB)
  • 5.7" (1440*720) HD+ Max Vision Edge to Edge Display, with a clear protective gel cover included
  • 13MP rapid-focus rear-facing camera and 8MP LED flash front-facing camera
  • Qualcomm, Snapdragon 430 Octa-core 1.4 GHz octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM
  • Accelerometer, GPS, gyroscope, and NFC. Includes fingerprint reader
  • upto 128GB microSD expandable storage support
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz
(still no compass though!)
If battery is not the main reason you're buying this, isn't it better to get the Huawei 7C?

Though it's 4000 vs 3000 mAh, but it's just that Huawei has a faster processor etc

The 7c is a tenner cheaper than this today as well.

I know it does but Amazon always mix up specs and reviews. There is a comment that the specs are incorrect for the dual sim model. Other spec sites state only the European model has nfc so it's quite possible the dual sim model does not.
Yup...dual sim version does not have nfc so no G Pay. Single sim version does.

Would go with Motorola anyday due to pure android and no stupid skin for launcher like Huawei do.

That piddly little Snapdragon in this i couldn't use.
What about camera - which is better - important to my wife

I have no idea in regards to the moto, but the camera on the 9 lite I found to be very capable for a phone I paid £119 for off aliexpress
£119 that was some deal

Ahhh, I would actually get that than the 9 lite or g6 play all day.

Was a weird deal that one, one of the best vanilla moto's made last year, nice better than mid-range spex and a fab full hd screen, had a go of one 2 weeks ago, prior to order, up against the moto 6 play and moto 6, really could not see how they were worth £100+ each more, compared to the moto g5s plus variant! Hukd is a funny old world!

Oh yes, don't we just know it, there's a small minority of haters who will always vote the likes of Toby deals down because it's an unlown bag.

I've had a great experience with them, and now I've just took receipt of the huawei p10 plus I ordered from gearbest, well impressed with their service too.

Got it within 8 days I think it's been.

Just cancelled a phone order with Gearbest, ordered a cubot X18plus, paid for DHL express shipping and insurance.12 days later I get an email saying they can't ship via DHL (probably because DHL won't let them declare a nonsense value) and wanted to then post out by standard shipping, was going to take another 30+ days. Glad I cancelled tbh.

Mine came with royal mail, no such issues.
So is this the best phone to go for in its price range? (& from a UK retailer for returns purposes)
Does it have NFC?

No, probably not, but it's definitely great value at this price.

What would you recommend at this price point then pal?

Honor 9 lite probably, better processor in my opinion. Have never used the moto, but the weedy Snapdragon doesn't blow me away.

Maybe even the p smart at £15 more

They all seem to have some sort of issues.
Huawei seem to have wifi/Bluetooth issues and honor 9 lite camera issues & no nfc.

Yeah true, but all phones have some sort of issue, which is normally sorted with an OTA.

If I based my smartphone buying on scouring Google for common faults, I'd never buy a phone haha
I'm also looking to upgrade from a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. Is it worth paying a little extra for the new Xiaomi Mi A2 or the Lite version that's listed here:

Some great info you provide Mrswitch - so many choices ....
Any recommendations for a really meaty protection case? Flip one is fine.
The two I ordered just arrived from this Amazon deal. I can confirm that they don't have NFC. I setup a couple of the single SIM variants from John Lewis the other week and they did have NFC.
