argh .. deal breaker for me as i use my NAS to copy new music files from my PC to my Phone.
Both of these apps look abandoned, one hasn't been updated since 08/2016 and the other 03/2017. So it looks like any updates for things like network support will not be forthcoming.

You wont regret it, it's fantastic
Mplay wouldn't show album art, well, it showed a few then no more. Odd, but looks amateur.

Stick with VLC player for me.
If you want a really small app, very popular, minimal permissions then go for Total Commander. Supports NAS drives as well
