I don't know what a 1 megapixel lens is, but you get what you pay for in this case.
I would assume 1.0-megapixel lens means it is really native 720p, so 1080p will be interpolated
1080p is 2 megapixel resolution.

Odd that there's a "proofcam" website with a different model with the same model number proofcam.com/pro…01/ would make finding reviews more difficult.
I read the product name wrong there and thought I would be seeing a load of videos of queens and the like... Disappointing.
Mobius actioncam are fantastic, they even updated the firmware on the sub £30 keychain cam to allow them to be used as a dashcam. Very small and sit behind rear view mirror
It sounds like a hassle taking this out and putting it away for every journey, and if you don't it makes it pointless?
I don't have a proofcam version.. but I do have what appears to be the OEM version of this (as in its apparently identical but doesn't say proofcam anywhere on it)

It's actually quite good during daylight. Its very very average at night though. I used to use it all the time as it was one of the better ones for the price when i first got it.

Now though.. this is the same price bracket as the G1W, which is in every way better, Full HD and great at night.. so probably best avoided unless proofcam have improved the optics over the OEM version. (which is possible)

half price
the boxe states 8gig memory card
I would try to go for a dashcam with 1080p as it will be hard to make out number plates etc with this 720p camera.

I went for the Drivepro 200, but it's a fair bit more at £80, but very good quality even in low light (does not have to rely on infra red like some of them do).

Been using the drivepro 200 as well, came close to an accident. Played the footage on TV, extremely great quality.
More expensive,no memory card but high quality recording day and night.

+1 for the G1W mentioned above. I have one via china ebay seller and very happy with it.
Prices on dashcams are dropping like a stone at the moment. If you don't need it urgently I'd keep a look out for a decent one at this price.
Worst brand name ever. What were they thinking?!
why is it so difficult to find a decent dash cam at a reasonable price ?
I bought a Mobius C2 from Bang-good.com and can highly recommend it. Cost about £45 but you need to purchase a memory card. Picture quality is very good but its best feature IMO is its very small and hardly noticeable placed next to rear view mirror.

There's a Spytec version of the G1WH (Fulfilled by Amazon) listed on Amazon for £36, if it is still a Novatek NT96650 + Aptina AR0330 based one as claimed, then it is not a bad price for a 1080p dashcam with good image quality, although it is a budget recorder, http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KZ0J452

Unfortunately, some seller now have a new cheaper model with a lower cost GPCV2159 processor, which is sometimes sold as a G1WHT. The G1WHT model is available from china for about £25.

I got a Black Hero HD Car DVR from eBay for £20 and £5 for a memory card. It looks to be a more basic version of the Mini 080X cams. It records in 720 and 1080p.

no offence, but that looks like a £20 camera too. What's the point if it's not clear and able to make out plates more than a few meters away?
I would go for a G1WH over a G1W, or at least look for the all black version of the G1W. In either case, make sure you get the original chipset,

They are basically the same hardware, except the G1WH has a black case with a black lens bezel , whereas the G1W has a shiny chrome bezel which makes it more likely to be noticed by passing thieves when the car is parked, and the other motorist in the event of a collision.

Recommend the B60 if you want a stealthier 1080p dedicated dashcam. Really good reviews and simple to install.
Bought one on weekend, great little camera and got an SD included so set it up in the car park and drove off recording. I think its great value and nice looking, small enough to hide behind the rear view mirror
Bought one this week, to record the view out the rear after being hit from behind recently. I have a dash cam recording the front view. This is a really good robust compact unit, and came with an 8GB SD card rather than the 4GB on the website. The mount is a bit fiddly, but got it into a good position eventually. I used my clubcard vouchers and doubled up with clubcard boost, so only had to pay £3 in actual money, so a real bargain from my point of view and the cam/recording are good enough for me.
