Leaflets outside my local Sony Centre ( York ) show that they are doing the PS Vita with a £40 PSN voucher. The store also say they price match ( not online ) but Comet/Currys/Argos etc on deals, so they could end up matching a bundle price & you also get the £40 PSN voucher.

Gives those who don't want the bundled games that most other places are offering something different I guess. Can use the voucher to download more games on PS3 or Vita that you actually want.

So they match the HMV bundle deals and also give you a £40 voucher and yet people are still voting it cold?

This should be scorching best price so far

Does this come with the preorder pack?

I highly doubt it. Their offer is PS Vita + £40 voucher. If they price match HMV then you will just get whatever HMV are offering without the £40 voucher.

It does sound to good to be true but that's what the OP has posted, perhaps it should be confirmed either way?

Just spoke to the store now, they say that the £40 voucher is bundled in with the pack and if they price match you don't lose the voucher. There is no pre-order pack with there offer. I have to ring back tomorrow while they get the definite answer.

Will reply tomorrow when I know more.

This is a GREAT offer to be honest. It would be perfect if you're one of the early pre-orderers of the 16GB Card when it dropped down to £35.
Just get it on day one and buy loads of games.

what sort of things can you buy with the voucher? could i get uncharted for example or is it just things like angry birds etc

WOW!! What a deal!!

Anything on the store, so yeah uncharted or any other game!

id suggest its anything on the ps store. uncharted may be on it, but i think its just a generic £40 code, which means you could use it on ps3 items too.

weird though as i thought they only made £25 codes nowadays.

anyway its a decent deal, but play have some for £232 for console and preorder pack plus 8gb card and a game. makes the console around £180.

I'm not quite sure how it's scorching as other places online (no price match) have the Vita for £215 with a memory card. The £40 voucher isn't really £40 because PSN have rip-off prices on games and they're download only so you can never sell them.

Good deal for people who are interested in gravity daze as it's downloadable only irrc.

lol no resell, no hot.

you got it spot on really, I can not think for one moment the benefit of downloading AAA releases, unless you are the sort of person who never trades/sells games you are cutting off your nose, as selling/trading back games is a good way of getting new games

am i right in saying that games can be more expensive on PSN than retail shop price ?

Sometimes more than double the price. Publishers put them on the store at the recommended retail price or higher without regard to 'real' prices so at one point, Rayman Origins was £49.99 on PSN and £17.99 on Amazon

They've had a rethink on this strategy though and vita games have been confirmed to cost less as a digital download than the physical (albeit resellable) copy. I intend to get UMVC3 and know I won't sell it so in this case the voucher would be great. Clever ploy though, sucker people in with a huge voucher and thus increase the pressure on you to buy a memory card. They need to make their money somewhere though I guess. I'm sticking with the Morrisons deal for now as it suits me best (getting hold of a discount and flogging the voucher) but I'd love to see some confirmed price match deals by the Sony Centre so will wait and see.

The deals a getting better and better. Almost regret preordering mine so early. Am sure sony centre will have similar deal in London.

This is by design so that high street stores & online retailers still have an incentive to sell the console hardware. If the PlayStation Store prices were undercutting the typical retailers' list prices then they would have no motivation to sell the hardware any longer. It is the ongoing need for software where the highest profit margins are made in the video game retail industry. I did say, "most", however, Some titles on the PlayStation Store are cheaper than the comparable physical assets. Like the regular discounts I post as deals every fortnight, the digital delivery titles are often reduced (for a limited period). Also, the "minis" range of titles (now mostly playable on the PS3, but designed for the PSP/PSP Go) are available. These are Sony's equivalent of Apple's "App Store" titles; at a relatively cheap price & with a relatively "casual" gaming audience.Personally I favour physical assets (as I have mentioned before), but a PSP Go does have some positives; the fact it supports Bluetooth connectivity means you play titles via the PS3 "Remote Play" facility using a SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 controller, for instance.[EDIT]: Are you aware of the "Remote Play" feature?

This is a rubbish deal. Why would I want my games to be download only, unless they're not available as physical copies? As somebody says above, there is no resale value.

You need to factor in the price of a memory card.

Why on earth Sony decided to not bundle every Vita system with one I have no idea.

Convenience

digital is good, i had a pspgo and all the games i own are going onto my vita, cant do that with phisical copies of psp games can you? I'm getting more moneys worth than anyone that bought physical copies.

sony are getting as bad as nintendo releasing **** handheld consoles because there only consoles have rubbish sales, buy an xbox microsoft dont need to release handheld consoles cos' they have a good thing with the 360

Just to mention that Gravity Rush (what many are hyping to be the PS Vita's stand out title) is unfortunately download only in the EU (there will be no physical copy unless you order from US or Asia) so this deal can really benefit those who want that game.

Yeah but you bought a PSPgo which sort of cancels that out...

hee hee

To be honest I hate physical media. They just fill up my drawers and by the time I come to trade them in they are not really worth much. I would prefer to have every game on my PSV just like I have with my PC games via Steam. Who knows what game I may fancy playing so to have my catalogue available at the touch of a button is a god send. Last thing I want to be doing is carrying loads of game cards about.

Thankfully we are gradually moving towards downloads only and at least on the PSV I'll be able to download any game released. Hopefully they will have good Store sales (like Steam and over Christmas on the PS Store) as I tend to pick a lot of games up then for peanuts.

Best vita deal so fat. Voted hot.

binning

Best vita deal so fat. Voted hot.

surely the play.com deal is better no?

Might want to warn people that the Vita doesn't have build-in storage like the PSPgo or 3DS, and to download games from PSN you will need a memory card. Think 4GB costs around £16-40 depending were you get it.

To hell with all these PS vita deals FFS.

Read my comment again. If a game is available as a physical copy WITH RESALE VALUE I'd take it every time. I like Steam, XBLA, etc. and am fully away they're not sellable - but they can't be bought any other way.

Heat added, cheers

On the Sony website as well - can be ordered online

I work just around the corner from the Sony Centre on TCR and they have a huge sticker in the window this morning advertising the £40 voucher offer, so possibly they only started the offer today at TCR?

would they price match the morrisons deal?
