If you want to play a game surely its better on the ps3/4? remote play, why? because someone else is watching tv? get a smaller second tv for the sdame price. I dont get the handheld thing, unless you spend a lot of times on busses and trains.

Sitting playing the Vita isn't very sociable but it is significantly better than leaving the room. I've also used it many times away from home for work or on holiday. It makes a 5 hour flight much more bearable.

What's more I'd have to move my Xbox with me each time and I find that pretty annoying. Picking up the Vita is much more convenient. Moving out the living room entirely isn't an option because it would be away from the good TV, the hardwired internet connection and the sound system.

...this isn't that hot....because Amazon had brand new wifi/3g/16g/games ones for £135 before xmas.....which is about the same price as this if you add on all the bits. Better to wait till Amazon get the new batch in, in a couple of weeks, because they might reduce them because of the new version that is already out in Japan and the States.....:p

I had one from them last year when they were 99.99 and mine was immaculate... came in generic box rather than original through... They are guaranteed for 12 months, and you can return if not of a high enough standard...

You can't remote play vita games on a vita.I play on mine at home. It's not just a poor mans PS4 (I have a PS4 too), it's a totally different experience. The games feature two touchscreens, two cameras, tilt, mic .etc I often play on the vita as it's just so different from the PS4. "Tearaway" was my GOTY last year, and I don't say that lightly.

both fair points i think. suppose its just each to their own. i never played any of sonys handhelds because i just thought its a smaller scaled down version of the console games. the original gameboy was the last handheld i played but that was at school.

It's not for everybody - certainly. There are a whole host of games for it that are essentially PS2/PS3/PS4 style games, ammended for the Vita. There are however a host of games on the Vita that are entirely bespoke and innovative. Tearaway I already mentioned, but the AR games (where you essentially "play" on items within your real world - through the use of the cameras) is awesome. LBP is better on the Vita than it is on the PS3 and there's so many indie games that run brilliantly on it.

It is ideal for travel, but I do enjoy it at home. The fact it does remote play isn't the key for me, but it's a nice facility to have.

Why on earth would you buy second hand for this price? You can get it with 8-16gb memory card and 2+ games very often if not always for £139.99-£149.99.

Will cost you over £20 for the memory card alone, then a further £20-£40 for the games.

So by buying this your paying MORE then a new one, just plain stupid really. And yet gets heat? shows how people do not bother to do the calculations at all and just buy any old deal.

Question: If I have a physical game card does this replace the memory … Question: If I have a physical game card does this replace the memory card or does the device have two slots? I actually picked up LBP in HMV for £12 and wondering if I can just get the console to play this or do I NEED a memory card.Is 16gb enough if I get a PS+ subscription or will I just be wishing I had bought a 32Gb card?? Thanks!!

Two slots, 3 if you include the 3g sim slot. Took me a while to find the memory card slotoO

For the second question, it really depends how many games you want loaded at once. You can always redownload them of course. I got a 32gb card, have 14 games on it with 7gb spare. Some games are over 3gb, some only 200 - 300mb, so it also depends upon the games you want to play.

I agree that the ~£140 deals are better value overall. If you consider that realistically you need a 16gb card to get the most out of your vita (I have 32gb but you can get by with 16gb), that's about another £25. so say £115 total. For £25 extra for some games and a brand new console I think it's worth the extra £25.

I get there is no £140 deals, but there will be if you wait a few weeks. Only reason I can see for buying this (my opinion), is if you want just for remote play on ps4, or if money is a real issue and you can't afford/justify a total outlay of £140. Both of which are perfectly valid reasons.

Especially so given they're from Game online where they know some people will probably put up with the imperfections these units probably have to avoid the hassle of a return.Hold onto your money until the £140-£145 bundles are back in stock. Easy decision.

Online orders can be returned to any store (unless you use PayPal, then it must be returned via post).

What I don't understand with this whole amazing concept of cross-play and remote play is that the Vita has one less pair of trigger buttons compared to the PS3 and PS4. It's so annoying having the controls cut down, so that for example, when you are remote playing FIFA14 on the PS4 to make your player run or use the skill-moves the back triggers on the full-size controller are mapped to the back-touchpad on the Vita and it's incredibly fiddly. Why not just make the Vita a clone of the PS3/4 controller but with a screen in the middle? It makes zero sense.

I'm a complete Vita noob!

Any game you have downloaded via your PSN account will always be there, if you delete it from a device then you just download it again, same applies to Vita,PS3 or PS4.

Anyone who has a Vita and is contemplating purchasing a PS4 (or vice-versa) and has a Playstation Plus subscription, trial or bought, should purchase every free game there is available for every device.
Download them later when/if you do own that device.

You don't need to own a PS4 for example to purchase a PS4 PS+ free game (assuming of course you have PS+)

Purchase these through your PSN account on any web browser.

There have been some great ones recently. Guacamelee and Oddworld were games I'd never considered but I loved both of them. Haven't even got round to starting Soul Sacrifice but it seems pretty well regarded. If the USA ones are an indicator, next month will be rubbish but anyone with a PS3 and PS+ who has been "purchasing" the Vita games each month will have some great games to play on it - Mortal Kombat and Rayman are two articular favourites of mine.

zero and yes. Although I did pick up a 16gb for £25 from argos a while back and I think they're getting cheaper too.
In sony's defence, the vita memory is probably much faster than a cheap £10 sd card. However I won't go THAT far in defending sony, because they do too much of this bespoke stuff, it could very well run off SD cards and they chose not to.

They're pretty much an essential purchase unless you only want the Vita for remote play. I'd also say get 16 gig as a minimum. Mine came with a 4 gig and couldn't even manage two of the larger games.
