I was thinking the same, seems a good deal to me!

Probably because it's already been posted.

Doubt you could find the large one on sale now.

I must say that I'm suprised at the selling price of the PS2. About 6 months ago I bought one, also from Asda, for £49. However, I never used it. Didn't even open the box!! I've only just sold it (last month) for £50, but was really shocked that they were going for £80-90!! Didn't feel right making a profit on it (well OK, I made a quid), as I was selling it to one of my mates.

Not something you should really boast about lol:roll:

There is a reason play and such are selling these cheap and that reason is because Sony have announced to be releasing a new PS2 model pretty much after xmas, a complete redisgn smaller and cheaper, i suspect that they are making space for the new models and lowering the price is the result of there whiolesalers are getting the cheaper price now from sony. so its a good deal but unless you want it for xmas i would wait till the new year for the new model.

if its the PSTWO that play.com was selling for £69 earlier in the week then it is a very good deal.

the new one coming out after xmas (if it ever comes out here) will have the power supply inside the unit, as opposed to being a separate unit from the console.

i looked it up on wiki!!

quite right ice killer, here's a link I discovered about the new ps2.

mcvuk.com/new…008

They claim it will cost £75 or less.

The "new" PS2 is virtually the same size (marginally shorter) and a bit lighter than the current model. The main difference is the the PSU is internal rather than a seperate small brick (and the styling has been "streamlined", losing the ridges found on the original PS2 and slimline. Hopefully the existing slimine peripherals will continue to work (they have altered the stand to look like that on the original lardy model)
(some more details and pictures here:
reghardware.co.uk/200…gn/ )
If the "new" look and internal PSU are worth the wait, go ahead - I don't think they make enough difference to be worth waiting for,

I wonder if they will ditch the network ports? You can still sign up for Sony's free online service but they haven't actually had the mechanisms in place to keep an account active past six weeks since at least the beginning of this year (so Sony-supported network gaming is b0rked) - not that I'm bitter or anything:-( .

I am thinking of getting a PS2 - i have had one before, but wondering which is better the PS3 or the PS2 - obviously there is the blu- ray, hd etc in ps3 but more games for the ps2, just weighing up the pros and cons i guess!

Very Good lol:oops:

This forum is about identifying bargains and it seems to me that, as this is the cheapest price it's currently available for brand new, the deal stated is a bargain. If the new model is going to sell for the same price it will be more of a bargain and the present deal is a bit pants, but I strongly suspect the new model won't be available for anywhere near £60.

Amcol.. theres no argument there..

the ps3 obviously is better because its the newer of the PS series?

None in Asda, Sutton Surrey, but voted Hot because it would have been great if there were!

None in Asda High Wycombe, Bucks

They did have them, but wanted just under £90 for them

thx tho
