It would be strange going from a 42" TV to this is agree - But likebrysoni23 said, if the mrs can watch tv and me game at the same time it's a plus - More gaming time for Moi

Tempting

If it was £150 then I might consider it but this has come down for a reason. I would rather game in 2D on my 40" TV than 3D on this. There's no Smyths near me either.

I had my xbox connected to a 22 inch HD 1080p monitor for a while and found it better than playing on a 46 inch TV. So much comes down to how far you're sitting from it. A good 24 inch monitor will look brilliant for a bedroom or is you've been banished to the boxroom whilst Strictly Come Karaoke or whatever other nonsense is on. It's going to be rubbish if you're on a couch well back from it.

Good price. Shocking reviews on Amazon regarding reliability. I'd avoid at this price still. Hot if you know what you're getting yourself into!

I didnt know there was such a thing? - hot

I've got a 47" in my bedroom now and think thats to small. 55 or 60" is my next purchase.
This would be ok in a Karavan or something but in the house something this small doesn't make sense to me.

24" is actually a comfortable size, remember, you are sat a couple of feet away from it maximum, compared to your TV which is 6-10 feet away, I have a 51" TV for TV / Blurays and 24" LCD for games / PC when the mrs is watching stuff. Perfect.

What's the deal with it? What makes it better than just having a great TV?

I prefer play station on 24" sitting at a desk. Much easier to concentrate than lounging in the living room

Small monitors are superior for anyone serious about online gaming, purely because any serious gamer will be short sighted barring the most extremely lucky few, and it helps concentration. Plus you have everything right in your FOV and can sit right up close. Having to sit way back when using a HDTV means that there are many distractions in addition to staring at a small rectangle in a large space, just so that your FOV is right. A small monitor means most of your vision is consumed by the image, and smaller monitor means smaller eye movements. I've tried gaming up close on a 42" TV, due to space restrictions, and its painful for FPS games etc, as you basically have to move your whole head at times.

Secondary use as a PC monitor is also great. Shame I don't have one of these stores nearby.

This is a cracking piece of kit for the 2 player option alone..

2 players no split screen.. love it!

Fixed your post for you, you must have forgot to have the "subtext" option turned on

On topic, 23-26 is much more comfortable for gaming, you tend to have better reaction times than playing on a large TV as you don't have to keep moving your eyes as often to take in new things. Have a big TV for films, but anything other than party games and Fifa are terrible on a big screen.

Any TV's made by SONY i would steer clear of as the contrast and colours are horrible and i prefer 50" HD for games had 28" and 32" but you can't beat playing games on a bigger screen also the 3D on Games ain't so great on all of them nor would i recommend sitting on a 3D game for hours at a time.

Also you can get 32" 3D TV's cheaper than this and some come with 8 pairs of glasses i would shop around your paying more just because of the PlayStation Tag.

to be honest - so what if it is branded PS3 - i dont see the benefit of this over far cheaper 24" monitors - maybe I'm being daft here - but remind me why this price is good??

Whats the deal with using it with an xbox or PC, will it still do all the fancy stuff?

The key selling point isn't even on the key features, the fact that you don't need split screen anymore. With some crazy new tech two of you can look at the same screen with 3d glasses and see 2 different images providing the game is compatible. That's the advantage.

As far as I know the 2 player, no split screen effect can be achieved with any 3D tv or monitor so long as the game supports this. I don't know of any xbox or PC games that have this feature but if there are now or in the future I don't see why it wouldn't work with them on this monitor.

EDIT: Thinking about this it will probably only work with active 3DTVs and even then I'm not convinced they will all be capable.

Granted it's not going to be for everyone, Yes there are cheaper 24" monitors
But there are not many cheaper 24" 1080P 3D Monitors, and as mentioned the 2player 3D split feature

Its USP is the extremely useful dual screen feature. You aren't paying for the PS branding, as Sony licensing for accessories etc is free.

PC yes, 360 probably not. Microsoft don't seem to care about 3D, or 1st party games these days. If you've got a eyetoy though, they'll love you forever.

Isn't 24 inch tiny?

your TV will be smaller on the other side of the room and a 24'' screen in front of you.

Get a life man was using phone so i ain't gonna mess around with punctuation always some sad **** that notices it on this site don't you have anything better to do like crawl into a hole and die.

great for bedroom gaming, would have been tempted (still am!!) but already use my PS3 on a selection of TV's depending where I am in the house, and don't own enough 3D content to justify this spend (just picked up a 51 3D Plasma)

Called the Charlton store and they told me they have "a handful" so going to pop down there on my lunchbreak (hoping I can do the entire trip in less than an hour via bus/tube!)

Ticking time bombs.

there is one at team valley now mate.

I bought one in the USA last year and like it lot, some notes:

Great LED screen. PS3 3D is very good as the screen itself refreshes at 240Hz but HDMI 3D input is limited to1080 at 24p or 720 at 60p due to it's PS3/Bluray origins, so not ideal for 3D PC gaming as it means only 720p 60 is useable in 3D, but it still looks great.
Supports side by side mode 3D as well as full res modes.
Two player gaming on the same screen is cool for supported PS3 games.

No remote supplied but can be remote controlled via the new style V2.0 PS3 remote or a Harmony/OneforAll style programmable remote using Sony TV codes.
amazon.co.uk/Off…-15

Sound is very thin.

My son currently uses it on his gaming PC (2D 1080p 60Hz) and loves it.

Yes it works with the Xbox 360 in 3D.

Well 360 uses HDMI 1.2 so MS's options are limited until they make a new console or do another big redesign of the console. So for now most 360 games use a crappy method for 3D. Bear in mind many games like COD on PS3 use the same method anyhow. Lazy devs and all.

There's no way a flatscreen TV has a built in subwoofer, not by any reasonably person's definition of the word

Not a good product, you can get a 24" PC monitor, 120hz, 3d with all the connectors and a far better picture for this price

If your sat the other side of the room then sure, but like a computer monitor you tend to sit pretty close and a smaller screen isn't such a concern then.

Can you? I had a look on Overclockers and all their 3D Vision monitors start at £320 with no glasses. Scan are doing a cheaper BenQ for £221 but again with no glasses.

Bare in mind for the childrens room its a pretty good product, they can play together with only one screen using the glasses and it comes with 2 games included, plus outputs reasonable sound also for such a small set.

I've been looking for this a while still sat on the fence ...

Ok, that's cool, but can this not be achieved, as others have said, with any 3D tv on the market?
