o no, console war, i'm not going to spam and make finding good info on this board hard, I'm going to say i'm pretty sure for £229.99 you can get one in sansbury's with one game, tho may be wrong, has anyone else seen this?

go and moan in misc about which one is better - with staff discount this is a winner for me £207 and i can sell my 60gb - (never use any of the extra features anyway) and get 12 months warranty

CROSS GAME CHAT AND NOTHING CAN BEAT THE PS3,i been with xbox from launch, just got a ps3 as its better basically, esspecially bluray and it wont crap out as easy(3 xbox 360's)

but cross game private chat while doing anything is a much needed feature, does that and the xbox will die quicker than the red rings imo

♪It is the season when a lot of kittens are born in spring. Were you able to meet a kitten?

Is there a way of using the double vouchers offer on this?

Just a quick point

12+1 month £28.99 at the moment at most places on the web, the service is pretty good, and has as been said a lot of the games NEED to be played on live to get the full experience.

Never been a PS player/owner, until tomorrow that is, have been looking for a BR player and media tank for a while to replace the noisy and rather large XBMC on the old xbox.

I just spoke to my local tescos extra and they say it's not due out until the middle of the week.

I personally prefer my master system and nes consoles

Admin

Console preference has nothing to do with this deal, if you want to discuss which platform you prefer then do so in misc please

i read people have had them scince yesterday, but today in gamestation i heard the manager, telling a customer, they will be in stock next week,
what gives,im going to order from gameplay.

360 = Stupidly designed, very noisy, no wireless and prone to break down
PS3 = Quiet, great technology, Blu Ray and the perfect centre for a home entertainment system

I wish I owned the latter but I don't. I went for the 360 whcih has just come back from a European tour:

After breaking down with RROD AGAIN. Once the PS3 slim drops below £200, I'll be able to get away with buying one and ditching the 360 without getting too much grief from She Who Must Be Obeyed!

Quality Use staff discount for 10% off

same price at Toys R Us from tomorrow. leicester store has loads in stock (i work there and they arrived on friday) so shudnt be a problem getting hold of one when it goes on sale tomorrow

A few days after they was announced and all stores had them listed at £249 i managed to get myself a UK PAL console pre-ordered for £229 with a free copy of cod:waw which i was really happy with (ebay deal) which i thought was REALLY good but these new deals are getting better.

Personally my favourite Slim deal has to be Blockbuster. Console + Arkham Asylum (which i need to spend £35 on anyway) plus a months rentals free for £249.

does anyone know if these will be available from midnight?

Rang my local Tesco earlier and they said the PS3 slim isnt in stock yet but will be coming in tomorrow, they confirmed the price will be £249.99... im confused now

tried tesco bar hill cambridge today and no PS3s of any type in stock at all, so maybe they were holding back for 1st Sept?

Also has better sound quality playback...

Just noticed that Gameplay.co.uk also have the console on for £229. Just another source if required.

Bad decision.

A) The original PS3 looks so much better with the piano black finish. The new one looks like a protoype idea for the PS2!

B) 60GB is a rarity and being able to play games like Persona 4 on it make it worth the backward compatability.

C) The 60GB model will probably go up in value as Sony are never going to produce a backward compatible PS3 again.

lol..theres no difference in sound at all.

Sony can't ever get it right the first time. Slim PS2, slim PSP and now a slim PS3.

:P

better codecs at least.
This is a great deal nevertheless and whatever your opinion on the ps3 slim because it is the cheapest and probably the most convenient to get it.

Why is this hot: ? Shopto.com have been taking preorders for todays slim launch for days at £229.99 delivered.

The Zavvi deal get's you call of Juarez (£25), HDMI cable (£2) and a Blu ray film (£4.99) and those are the cheapest prices for a total of £249.95 making it better again, especially when you get £5 quidco taking it to £245.

I'd be careful about the PS3 not breaking line, supposedly it's a myth, Eurogamer.net has a front page article on 360 and ps3 failure rates. Might be worth a read as they state it's an inherent problem for BOTH consoles and not a design defect/heating problem in either.

FYI:Not a big MS fan, not trolling for a fanboy, I've got a slim ordered at Zavvi and I just found out about the yellow light of death on the PS3 today from that article so thought I'd share the info. The difference is now in the guaranteee, watch the youtube video of the yank guy who's PS3 YLOD one month out of warranty and you'll see why.

About the 60gb being backward compatible... I doubt it will be it's USP for much longer.
I give it 6 more months and you will see PS2 games in the bucketload playable on all PS3's through software. Either as PSN titles or bluray versions rebranded for PS3.

Sony are not stupid, and ditched BC as soon as they could. People already own PS2 games. They are old, people will pick them up second hand. Sony makes NOTHING from this type of market.

However, start bringing PS2 games onto the PSN or on Bluray, now you're talking Sony making money off the same old software already released for basically free. People will re-buy the same games they own.

God of War 1 and 2 is already confirmed to be re-released on bluray for the PS3 in 720p with full AA with trophy support this winter and get ready to see much more games re-released with this approach

Any update on this?
