I Never understood the purpose of the 12gb model PS3, some games have a mandatory install requirement of 8gb leaving you with less than 4gb free as there's not even 12gb to start with due to OS.

after a while you'll be forced to buy an new HDD, so you may as well have bought the 500gb model in the first place.

My old ps3 is the old style (1st Big) Ps3 & that had a caddy in there, But alas the caddy is a different shape to the new super slim one. I have had to order one from Ebay for £5.35 delivered The drive i have will be fine it's just that Sony changed the shape of the caddy. People have fitted them without using a caddy, But i would rather spend the odd £5 to be sure.

Also, could try a 1tb hybrid hard drive, Under £70 now. Gives a boost in level load times, etc, and recommended for Ps4 upgrades too.
