So what happens if you put this on your house windows?

Same thing. Once your house has reached a speed of 30mph you'll notice the benefits

Does this help even when using the windscreen wipers?

yes, but I find on motorway driving, or any driving over 40mph I don't need to use the wipers

This is very much a personal preference, it causes water to bead up as it's a silicon based hydrophobic layer it creates so water can't grip the windshield. Equally the blades glide easier on the glass with less friction but unlike an untreated screen there will quickly be more beads of water reappear so should be less wear on the blades themselves and if you can get on with the effect rain X has then it's a good product. Some people just don't like the beading effect when driving though.

Anyone know how often this needs to be applied?
Guessing the friction of wipers would affect it lifespan too.

Most, but not all?
Propa bargain, just bought this and the anti fog. Nice find...

OK thanks for that.

A lot of my driving is motorway driving so this sounds good. 😁

How long would a bottle of this last doing say 2,000miles a month?

Thanks Mark.
Just order 3 bottles but strangely when I put 2 bottles in my basket it added a promotion of £2.01 so it took it down to £3.99 for 2 bottles

It's hard to say as it depends how often you use your wipers with it applied.

It fills in microgaps in the glass surface meaning water can't grip the surface. The more friction applied to the screen, say from wiper blades, will create slight micro scratches on the rain X coating so the more scratches over time mean the rain water can again start to grab onto these and rain X becomes less effective. So I think average is about 2 months before you would need to reapply but everyone's millage will vary depending on the above

Thanks for the reply but have decided to cancel my order as worried about having to make sure the windscreen is totally clean before applying and due to my high mileage my car is never clean. 😁

It will be worth your while to either wash your car yourself or go to a hand car wash then apply this. Any similar windscreen treatment will require a clean windscreen being being applied.

With regards to how long it will last before requiring another application, these two products from Rain X may help to extend the period of effectiveness.

Rain X Windscreen Washer Additive

Rain X Ready to use Screenwash
This works great but makes some wipers judder. If you lucky and the wipers dont judder once this stuff is on than it is good. Im avoiding this stuff as my car doesn't like it
Great for motorway driving
Thanks, will give it a go.

Wups, forgot to say thanks to Ken and heat added, but I’m still not dragons friend
Same price at Asda if someone interested.

Tried adding 2 then 3 bottles to basket but no reduction at checkout so didn’t complete transaction.

The only time a promotion reduction appears at checkout when a voucher or discount code has not previously been applied will be when you have a promo credit on U.K. it account AFAIK.
Can this prevent morning dew forming a layer on my side windows on cool mornings?

The rubber lining doesn't wipe away any moisture when I lower the window so it's a problem if I set off without realizing they needed a wipe.
Love this stuff
This and anti fog are £3 in Asda at the moment

For some reason, I always find it slightly irritating when someone posts a deal and along the way someone states it the same at Amazon. It often is because they drop their price to match. However, I don't seem to mind someone quoting elsewhere when it is an Amazon deal :). Nothing against Amazon but they are always going to be fine, where possible I like to support our own shops ( even if Asda are owned by Walmart or was because it is being sold to two brothers)

When I have applied this I always keep the blades off the glass for 10 mins or so to let the rain X fully dry so it doesn't get on the blades. Then I will go over the blades with a cloth and some hot soapy water to remove all the traffic film and dirt that builds up on them, it's shocking how manky blades get, I can at times turn a paper towel black after cleaning the blades. Even if you don't use rain X it's still worth cleaning your wipers every now and then, makes them so much better

Works really well on motorcycle helmet visors

This is a pointless product. There’s no real world scenario where this is of any practical use.
Avoid - had a bbq last month, looked a bit grey in the morning so got this out and sprayed it everywhere. No sooner had I put the bottle away and the heavens opened and we were drenched, if I still had the receipt it would be going back, it definitely does not repel the rain.
I apply this to the windows of my Gulfstream G550. Good stuff.
