[PS3+Vita] PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale £30.39

Sony have announced that buying the PS3 version of this game will result in getting the digital download of the Vita version for free. This seems to be the best price currently when using the SEGCON12 voucher.

Have cancelled my £22.99 Vita order in place of this to get it on both platforms.

Vita Cross-Buy:

As of later this year, buy the PlayStation 3 version of a compatible game and you’ll be able to download the Vita version at no additional cost. PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, Ratchet & Clack: QForce (yes, that’s now a Vita title too) and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time are the first games confirmed to support this new feature.

Thanks for the info. I shall do the same. Heat added
If you buy the Vita version only does it come with a code for the PS3 version too? Or do you have to get the PS3 version to get a Vita download code?

I don't believe it works Vita to PS3 else people would just buy the cheaper version. The statement on the blog states when buying the PS3 you get the code for the Vita, not the other way around unfortunately.

Rumour is that also EA are considering the option for NFS: Most Wanted as well.

So I would say you can buy the Vita, thats what it says on the blog and what they announced in the conference
Based on that I would buy the deal from sainsburys

Yeah they certainly did state that if you bought either game you got the other free in the conference as I watched it live last night but seems it was a mix up. Still a great offer though if you ask me. 2 full price games for £30.

Sony Santa Monica have stated it was a confusion as well

I dont think itll be available at retail.
I imagine the cross play promotion will be for PSN purchases.
They get a larger percent of profits, they dont devalue the games by having hundreds of PSN codes sold on ebay instead they would be on the purchasers account, there's added incentive for people who dont have a vita who do buy the game on PSN to get a vita as they already have a game.
I didnt hear them say it'd be a retail offer at the expo, so id assume until we are told otherwise it's a PSN offer.

Does the cross buy apply to retail purchases or is it just digital purchases?

Both
Then i stand corrected
Great news!!
Sony have been tripe this generation. This is actually a very interesting idea.

Not sure about this game though. Big Daddy has been the only character of interest for me.

you gotta do what?? you gotta believe!!!
Cannot wait for this feature to get rolled out proper. Definitely getting Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time this way. I'm pretty sure this is for boxed and digital versions - so get the PS3 version of one and get the Vita version as a download at no extra cost.

Some **** had a laugh at my expense when I suggested this a few months ago. Oh, how the laughs are coming from me now!

Am I right in thinking that the free game will be given as a code to download to your vita.
Oh, and for retail games I wager they'll expand the online pass so that you get access to online play as well as the entitlement to download the Vita version. How about a "PlayStation Pass"?

Hope Need for Speed goes down this route... I'd love to have Most Wanted on both devices! It would also be cracking if Ubisoft could do something similar for Assassin's Creed 3. I realise Liberation is a totally different game, but why not shove in a discount of sorts?

Just but I would imagine it will be tied to your account somehow to stop people from just selling on the Vita code.

Can't blame the doubters. This is the first time in probably 8 years someone in the gaming industry has offered something for free.

Just ordered and worked for me
Maybe it can only be used once? I ordered a game using it about half an hour earlier and it says "Code is no longer valid"
Crikey - games on the Vita... that's a novel idea...
Shame you can't get a physical copy of the Vita version.

Seems if you buy either the digital PS3 or physical PS3 version of any applicable game you get the Vita download version. My guess is that they'll tie the games to your account...

Fair enough point unlike the other b.s. comment you made 10mins or so previously

People spouting crap like that(I.e. there are no games for the vita) need to get their heads out their backsides, FFS its only been out since February do you expect there to be hundreds of games already? There are several highly/highishly rated retail and psn only(for those willing to spend the money on the memory card/s) games for people to be getting on with till more are released.

Gravity Rush, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, MGS HD collection, Rayman Origin just to name a few.

If you say ......

NOT

I have enough games to keep me going for the for seeable future, have gravity rush, wipeout 2048, everybody's golf, unit 13 and uncharted golden abyss 'full' games(of which only uncharted is the retail version, the others are psn versions). Also have mutant blobs attack, hustle king, motorstorm rc and super stardust delta+dlc psn games. On top of those I have vita compatible PSP games, plus end of august got the ps1 support being introduced.

I have a 16gb memory card plus a 4gb memory card, that should be enough for at least the PS vita games I have. when I do run out of space hopefully the price of the memory cards should come down in price, but if not I have a fast enough internet connection to delete/redownload games as when required(obviously not everyone has that luxury but I'm not the only one who does).

Please do tell me how many games would you want released for a console that's only been out for 6 month that would make you not consider it not being "NO games available"? I've asked this before but unsurprisingly never got an answer.
Can't be added to quote you but there are a sparse amount of games for a system that was in development for several years. I too have played uncharted (ok), resistance (crap), unit 13 (godawful crap), virtua tennis (okay) and everybodys golf (a psp game), I too own motorstorm rc, escape plan and the shoot em up I forget the name of right now and all three are IOS games that should have cost 69p. Of the 20 or so games for the vita, about 16 were available at launch... That equates to one new game about every 6 weeks... Even Sony admit 3rd party support is dying on its ****... You keep reassuring yourself its all okay though.
Oh.. And I don't buy a next gen system to play 12 year old ps1 games... (fp will be along on a minute to correct my timings!)

why don't all of you who go on about how the ipad/iphone/etc games are so cheap and ALL handheld console games should cost that much go and play your crippled ipad/etc games and stop posting in the ps vita, nintendo 3ds etc threads. oh and talking about the ipad/iphone those are around double the price of the vita, for the same price as just the ipad/iphone you can buy a vita + 16gb/32gb memory card + a few games(and if those are retail games once you've finished them, you can trade them in for new games should you so wish).

are you expecting hundreds of games to be released every day? it takes time and MONEY to create games, with recession etc over the last few years all but the major companies(i.e. EA etc) have had to make cut backs so can't churn out games willy nilly.

please show your source as to your claimed 'only 20 games'.

I don't need to reassure myself, I'm quite happy with my purchase. have played on the vita more in the past couple of months(bought end of may) than I did with the psp 1000 and psp go in the years I've owned them.

why don't all of you who go on about blah, blah...

I was in the pub quoting from memory last night, seems there were 20 physical games released on day 1 :

Army Corps of Hell
Asphalt: Injection
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
Dynasty Warriors Next
F1 2011
FIFA Soccer
Hot Shots Golf World Invitational
Little Deviants
Lumines:Electronic Symphony
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Rayman Origins
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen
TOUCH MY KATAMARI
Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Virtua Tennis 4
WipEout 2048

A futher 9 have been released since the 22nd Feb (and I'm being kind by including Jonah Lumu rugby) :

Ben 10: Galactic Racing
Mortal Kombat (ps3 port)
Jonah Lumu Rugby
Resistance
Unit 13 (psp port!)
Lego Harry Potter (ps3 port)
Lego Batman (ps3 port)
Gravity Rush
Metal Gear Solid (ps2 port)

That's 9 games in 6 months and only 4 of them potential new IP (I'm not familiar with Ben Ten outside of the sucide girls so I'll include that one).

Even Sony admit they're having trouble attracting third party developers link

I don't have an Ipod or Ipad (I can't stand IOS) and If I want to play games I'll do them on a dedicated platform (though outside of fifa my vita doesnlt get any use) but the point is that the handheld market has changed since the introduction of the PSP, people do expect a level of quality for pennies that sony are incredibly slow at responding to (psp mini's aside).

So... 29 games on a system that's been in the retail space for over 6 months and in development for years. It doesn't bode well.

Wasn't aware that Unit 13 was a PSP port, there was me thinking it was a new game...... en.wikipedia.org/wik…_13

Also I believe the Lego games are more based on the DS versions than the bigger console ones.

You are forgetting though quite a few PSN titles which make for some great gaming at a lower price. Things like Hustle Kings, Plants v Zombies, Sound Shapes, Super Stardust, Mutant Blobs, Pure Chess, Motorstorm RC, PulzAR

It was originally intended for the PSP. Hence why it's a little rough round the edges... I have Motorstorm & Super stardust myself but at £5+ a pop (and control method aside they do look like ios/android games) they're expensive for what they are.

Even adding in downloadable games you're looking at less than 40 games for the system. I'd be wary of developing for it due to the low user base compared to the nintendo consoles.
I like how you get both versions but I wonder if the game will be any good

I think the PS Vita Everybody's Golf game is a completely new game too, not a PSP game.
