I terminated my Sky TV contract back in May. I can't wait for November, the broadband is off as well.

Worth pointing out I think.

Desperate times for sony. They'll soon start bundling PS4 with 1080p TVs.

I highly doubt Sony are desperate when it comes to the PS4.

Only £50 off compared to SimplyGames or other similar offers on PS4.
Much better going through Quidco and getting £105 Cashback & £100 Prepaid MasterCard

Unfortunately for them, Playstation is the only part of Sony that isn't desperate.

My friend told me how bad their speeds are. I would avoid this. It's not great for gaming at all. Far less gaming on a ps4.

That's 100% bull. Maybe your friend didn't pay his bill? Even at their lowest speeds you can game online.

I'm on Sky fibre unlimited and it is exactly the same speed as my previous BT fibre, even though the BT one was advertising double the speed of the Sky product.
Don't get me wrong, I hate Sky and their TV pricing policy....

That's quite misinformed actually. Sony's share price has increased by 240% over the last 18 months & as of next month their credit rating will be changed. I say this as someone who buys shares, the only people who couldn't see Sony as a good investment are City types who chase bubbles to they burst & internet trolls.

Agree with you there :-)

Sky are awesome - their broadband has been solid for me for 5 years. Had fibre for 2 years and it's been absolute quality

Had sky broadband in the past and the speeds were consistent with every other provider ive had with no slow down, in fact the only reason I left is due to leaving sky tv.

Sony are doing very well selling camera sensors too.

It's only the sales of mobile phones which have been dragging then down, which is surprising because generally they get good reviews, but then most Android manufacturers are struggling to keep margins up.

i have had sky broadband for the second year now. and never had a problem. thats with just normal unlimited broadband with a ps4 , laptop . two tablets and a phone usaly using it at the same time to play online, stream movies ect .. only problem is there random price incresses

I have 9 download and 1 upload with 33 ping and can comfortably game on Bf4 with no problems.

In my experience sky are without a doubt the worst broadband provider out there. Speeds were awful for me and their tech are useless. Was delighted when my contract ended switched to Virgin and I get speeds over 150mb at times with 15-20 upload. Used to have to wait a day for a game to download at times. That's just my experience though

I'm already on sky broadband and would really like to take this offer. I would sign up for the extra fast fibre connection but not in my area yet. Such a shame. I might phone them and see if they can do a deal for me if I signed up for a new contract or something

Out of interest did you have Sky Fibre broadband. If you didn't there isn't really a comparison

No, it's not available in my area. There most definitely is a comparison, broadband is broadband I was expected to get up to 16mb with sky I was get 0.4 at times which is absolutely horrendous wouldn't you say? The max I would get ever was 3-4. With Virgin I get over the stated 152mb at times, which is far better than the 38mb sky fibre offers.

Quidco is only showing £80 cashback on a new fibre connection

Sky broadband contracts are 12 months. We switched 2 months ago to sky and we've been getting higher speeds than we ever have with any other provider. 16mb compared to 8-13mb with 3 other providers (no ifbre in our area). I haven't noticed any throttling as of yet so happy so far.

Shame they aren't doing this deal with their TV package. I would have jumped at that. Sky broadband is horrific at best. Virgin all the was for BB. Especially as a gamer.

It really depends on the exchange I feel. I used to have BT and it was great - we moved a few streets away and my god it was dreadful. Was less than 100kbs and consistantly dropped and that was definitely unplayable without tearing your hair out. Virgin have been a god send since then - although I know plenty people near me that have the other end of the stick.

Either way, if its crap and unusable aren't their laws that allow you to leave in that circumstance?

Yea obviously if you ain't getting the speeds they quoted you get onto them until they get something sorted out. If you're paying for a speed and it is slow you don't sit at home and say nothing.

Yeah we had issues with our SuperHub at first and because I had to push them for a month or so to sort it - eventually did and they even offered to double the speed we had at the time to 60mb. The one thing I realised during my time with BT is half the time they can't/can't be arsed to fix it. I only know a few people on Sky, but for the most part they get good fibre speeds via ethernet, 2 of the 3 have wireless issues though. Either way, the bill payer in both those houses doesn't get issues so never bothered to fix it - probably just a wireless channel overlapping with the neighbors X)

It really gets on my nerves that Sony gets such a hard time (especially with their phones). I've had the first Xperia Z from day one (before that I was an Apple man). I still have it today and honestly love it has much now as I did then. I'll be 100% upgrading when the Z5 is released. All the tech review sites generally seem to be extra hard on Sony and I don't know why. Sony still is the power brand that it always was but its even better and more streamlined now. They are innovating in all sectors but don't get the respect for it. Samsung comes along with some phone speaker sharing crap feature and shove curved tv's down our throats and blind everyone into thinking they're all that great. With Pioneer leaving the TV market I feel (over Panasonic) Sony TV's have that premium quality and design again and fill a missing gap. In cameras high end to low end Sony are right there with new features and quality. As you can tell I feel quite passionate about this (not that anyone will read this ever)

The problem is, when they say "up to 17mbps" there is no quoted speed. I get 4mbps down and I game online etc. It is fine for PC gaming, no idea about consoles or netflix etc.
Considering ringing them and saying it is no good though and see what they say.
