Sony's share price has increased by 240% over the last 18 months & as of next month their credit rating will be changed. I say this as someone who buys shares, the only people who couldn't see Sony as a good investment are City types who chase bubbles to they burst & internet trolls.

And what product did Sony release roughly 18 months ago that could have boosted the share price?

That would be the Playstation 4.

I've had sky broadband for nearly 2 yes and the last check I did couple of weeks I was getting the full whack speed I could out of my ADSL line, for me customer service has been brilliant too. obviously YMMV and heavy downloaders at your exchange
Wouldn't touch Sky broadband if they gave me the PS4 for free

I beg to differ. My lowest speed with sky to date is 6 days of 0.00001mbs. Fault on the line for almost 14 months. Useless repairs of duct tape to fix any issue and then a recurrence 2 weeks later and repeat the call out process again.

Sky are useless in the SE london area and once my contracts out I wouldn't consider them again.

Sky lease your line from Openreach. if there are faults in the line, Openreach deal with it, not Sky. Sky have technical support, beyond anything they can do behind their monitors it goes off to Openreach to deal with.

So whether you get your service from Tom, Dick or Harry if you have a fault on your line with one, you'll have it with all of them.

As for people trying to compare Virgin to sky. Why even bother? they are completely different products entirely, one is FTTP, and the other one is either completely copper, or FTTC. Of course your going to get a different service, it is a different service.
sky any good in london compare to bt ?

Desperate times for sony. They'll soon start bundling PS4 with 1080p TVs.

I'd try Sky Broadband. This Sky Boardband sounds dodgy.
People saying Sky BB is good and quoting speeds of 8-10Mbs download speeds need to wake up. If all you are doing is browsing the net, checking emails etc. then that is fine. 8-10Mbs is NO GOOD for gaming. Yeah, you may be able to play most games without issue but try downloading a 60Gb game. Enjoy the wait. It's 2015. 10Mbs is a joke.

downloading a 60Gb game

its sky try downloading anything and enjoy a copyright troll letter, probably the reason for this offer they need to get the (sane) customers back that left them when they gave out downloader details without a fight (most isp lest try to keep they members details save, lost in court but try) to TKYC LLC
I signed up for this Sky broadband package yesterday but when I added the PS4 the additional charge was £300. Anyone with any experience reckon it's worth calling them up to see if I can get this added?

I didn't mean illegal downloads. GTA V is around 60Gb direct from Microsoft. Elder Scolls Online is around 65Gb. They would take a lifetime to download thru Sky's BB. BTW - True gamers support developers by buying games legit.
new customers only
Stay well away from Sky broadband. The quality is terrible. They also block numerous sites and are generally a bunch of idiots.

I'm on standard sky broadband, over 10 devices connected everyday, no lag online, gta update files takes me around max 1 hour to download.

Then again they upgraded my area for network connections. I receive around 20mbs with a ping around 7-15ms.

No need for fiber as far as I'm concerned.

Bt Openreach had to get confirmation from Sky before they do a thing, which took Sky weeks to put through. Then after they sent out a Sky engineer, they confirmed the report, but because he did very minor tweaking on our end with our micro filter. Sky decided things were 'fine' and took us off the list to be repaired from Openreach.

This went back and forth for months.

When we finally got them to push through our fault to B.T, they were out within 2 days to repair any issues. Took them two tries to reduce any issues. Still getting them from time to time, but no where near as bad.

Also, they said BT/Open reach own the cables from the box to the pavement, while Sky has to repair any work from the pavement to the house. Not sure how true that is, but B.T hadn't once stepped into the garden to do any work, while Sky and their duct tape have countless times.

Sky are dogsh*t in my experience, and I wouldn't be using their services again after this year.

If the blocked sites are torrent sites, and other download pages. I think that's now under a new law, Virgin, B.T and sky are required to block piracy in the UK.

Indeed the PS4 is one of the hottest commodity's right now, Its the new PS2/Wii and selling more than all other consoles combined worldwide every month.

But that's my point. You wouldn't even need to wait an hour with say, Virgin. Why pay Sky for their sub standard broadband when you can pay slightly more for "super fast" fibre with Virgin. Personally I am glad I am rid of Sky and haven't looked back since leaving them.

Also their customer service is terrible at best. Cubed hit the nail on the head by describing them - "generally a bunch of idiots".

8mbs is more than enough to download a console game.

Sony don't use high upload speeds for their games. I think with my 16mbs I was only clocking at around 1.4mbs download speeds with the Sony servers.

Having a much higher mbs speed isn't going to improve your download rate by much if the source is capped at a low upload rate.

Quidco is only showing £80 cashback on a new fibre connection

Yeah, fibre is a different offer.

Although I don't see why you couldn't do Broadband Unlimited with the £100 Prepaid + £105 Cashback and then upgrade as an existing customer to Fibre (which currently shows as £110 cashback and half price for 12 Months)
I phoned sky up, as I'm already an existing customer to see if i can take advantage of this offer in any way. The guy I spoke to on the phone had never heard of this offer, and all he could tell me was what was in the Q&A section of the offer. That its only available if you order it online, and not over the phone, and if you aren't arleady a sky broadband customer. Shame
I've had sky fibre for 6 months now and it is well worth the money. £10 a month is great value considering what you're getting (38meg/4.4mb/s). In real world terms you can download around 15gb an hour. I was paying £20 a month and phoned up because i could get a better deal elsewhere and they discounted it to £7.50 a month, so great customer service as well.

I don't understand all the hate Sky gets on here.

Not bull, but I must admit I thought the same, I have had a few providers here and they are all about the same, switched to sky a few months ago and it's always dropping out (twice a day) and the speeds are definitely lower than any of the others, especially at peak times.

I guess it depends where you live.

The max I would get ever was 3-4. With Virgin I get over the stated 152mb at times, which is far better than the 38mb sky fibre offers.

A couple of years ago I had sky broadband upto 20mbps download. Rarely saw 0.8 mbps. Terrible service
Now on 50mbps Virgin broadband, get around 55 download with 7mbps upload
Much better

Nice to assume that I've done nothing but complain for 14 months...

The countless engineers who've came out changed the micro filter and just assumed it fixed the problem then Left. and a week later we've been back to stage one.

You explain to sky that you've done the trouble shoot a hundred of times, they will ask you to do it again. Great customer service again.

As I mentioned to another user, sky put us on a waiting list to finally have a new cable placed by BT within 3 weeks time off the issue. But because they saw a slight improvement over a course of 48 hours they took us after this list. Around the 3rd day the net went down hill. We waited the 3 weeks because Sky (as they are so great) didn't notify us,we rang them wondering why no repair had been done. Found out we were removed from the list and had to wait another 3 weeks.

We reported this last issue in January and kept calling them constantly. It was sorted around the 10th of July.

Even with each engineer saying it was a fault on the line and they would report it further.

I think it's more believable with a 100 mbs or 150mbs package.

Think when I had virgin 50mbps deal I was hitting 2.8-3

I've not had an issue with sky fibre broadband. solid 33mbps up and 7mbps since day one. Did think about virgin but they were far more expensive.
