Generations ago, the realm of Alefgard was plunged into darkness when the hero fated to slay the terrible and treacherous Dragonlord, the ruler of all monsters, was instead tricked into joining him. Through this vile villain's magical machinations, mankind was scattered to the winds and robbed of the power to build. With even the idea of creativity relegated to mere legend, the people of Alefgard wander the ruins of their former home, scrounging and scavenging in the dust to survive.

I'm a big DQB fan. Heat from me.

The first time I played a dragon quest game was when I received a free copy of "Dragon Warrior" in the mail from Nintendo Power, and Dragon Quest Builders is bringing back all of the fond memories of the original from my childhood. The classic sound effects, music, items, and enemies are all there. You'll start off bashing slimes with a cypress stick, and even though it's an action based combat system it still felt like a 'dragon quest battle' because of all the assets involved. The results of these battles is probably about the same as it would have been for me if it were turn based. Some enemies are easier to dodge by moving than others, but I often just end up trading blows back and forth. More skilled players may be able to avoid more attacks, but for me it feels about right. I've only played for about 5-6 hours so far, and just learned my first sword technique (a charged up 360 attack like Zelda), but I imagine it will get deeper as I play more. Even if it doesn't, however, I'll still be satisfied.

Superb game, Loved any single second of it and was left wanting more and more which for me nowadays is a rarity.

Played around 30ish hours of campaign and some of the free mode which is a little lacklustre but still decent, Excited for DQB2 which is rumoured to have Co-op which i hope is a tacked on mode rather than a core feature as it may make the game a little easier and i would prefer Single Player then Co-op rather than the other way around.

Either way i paid full price and felt like i have got my monies worth and i want to go back and go through it again at some point.

Major heat from me

How does this compare to Portal knights, would you say this plays like zelda, I like the look of it but not sure of building bits?

You received a game that didn't get a PAL release from a magazine that didn't publish in the UK? Good work.

It's part of the story, you'll realise why that happens and it actually makes the game less stale as you progress. There's a free build mode if you want to just build stuff with different islands for exploring.

Heat added - great price for a great game.

Ive played around 15 hours Portal Knights and i do like it But i found DQB better as it feels a lot more sandbox then PK and the added story helps a great deal also, Saying that i feel there is room for both in anyone's collection as PK has a nice price point too
