I personally feel this is a deal although the black and glacier white are £1.53 cheaper at Gamestop.

Black : gamestop.co.uk/Pla…ack

Glacier White : gamestop.co.uk/Pla…ite

Amazon have price matched the Black and Magma Red to the Tesco prices with I expect the remaining two to follow.

Cheapest on Amazon before this was £35 (Magma Red) back in October of last year.

Great potential prices for anybody with Clubcard points to spend.

Removed images but prices can be viewed here on CamelCamelCamel.

Also Grainger Games have the 20th Anniversary Edition Dualshock 4 listed for £49.99 which is the cheapest I can find it.

I wish they would sort out the rubber peeling on the left stick. I thought that it only affected the early packaged controllers, but my recently purchased magma red one has gone the same way.

I had the same issue and managed to get a replacement pad from Sony. I've then bought these amazon.co.uk/ORB…A32 to stop this from happening. if you can't get the controller replaced may be worth looking at these especially as they're pretty cheap.

Like other companies aren't the same....yeah right....wake up....

We have 2 controllers and no problems with either....after a year of using, maybe some should learn to take care of stuff or get a life away from the console....and yes all the people we know haven't had any issues with any controller.

It is an issue, but it's just wear and tear, my friends had the same issue but he is vigorous with his controller so it's to be expected lol. Buy some thumb grips, on eBay I bought 10 for 99p

Because some people have defected rubber in their controllers it's due to them spending to much time on their consoles (no life as you say), or they don't look after their things.

That's a stupid way of looking at a common fault made by Sony.

I heard about the rubber issue, so I had grip caps ready for when I got ps4 last year. It's the only thing I can recommend to prevent the damage.

Ordered thanks!

never had any problems with mine either.

I think before people start generalising about how much time they spend on consoles which causes the rubber peel issue, they should consider that it's likely that the rubber wears because of your 'play style'. Some people prefer to use their finger nails for thumbstick control, hence why the soft rubber peels easier for them. Personally I use the flat of my thumb to control.

Sony should then be supplying these little rubber caps then yeah
would make perfect sense to me
But then again they'd rather listen to some multi million pound boardroom dude to come up with it first lol

All white and camo dualshock 4's have new stick rubber that don't tear. I assume the other colour ranges have revamped sticks but who knows how many poor rubber variants on still on the market.

I thought they revised the the thumb sticks with a more durable compound?

I have 5 controllers that have rubber peeling off the sticks. Have they really not fixed this yet?

Edit: Okay, I'll buy a white one. And yeah, I've replaced all the sticks with Xbone ones.

Just buy a pack of Orb grips - they are high quality & feel great.

They did, but there is loads of old stock still floating about. Places like Tesco have a slow turnover on accessories like pads.

Not convinced to be honest, I bought a red pad which was on back order from Amazon for the best part of four months, and that has also started to go. (That arrived months after the initial internet buzz about a new compound/new material). Bearing in mind I only use it for FIFA and have played approx 20 hours, it's not great.

Red and blue pads were available from launch. I have a red one that got messed up.

Mine wasn't a launch pad though, they went completely out of stock. Amazon had them on an offer on here but they weren't dispatched until nearly four months later, which would suggest it was new build stock. hotukdeals.com/dea…342

A lot of internet posts mentioned the starting number of the serial number was the way to tell, but even that number differs on who's telling the story.

My left stick started peeling and then my little boy chewed it away. Do you think I'd be alright to get it replaced?

Was that an easy job? I'm thinking of going that way...

I've used thumb grips since new.. Feels odd using a pad without them now.

I've got Camo, Red and Black controllers. The black went the way of the Dodo within a couple months on Left Stick, Red started to peel slightly and Camo still strong atm.
Sometimes I wonder why they didn't add the PS3 sticks to the PS4 as mine are STILL good after 6 years.

I don't know about dualshock 4 but some of my dualshock 3 controllers got pretty heavily worn and the sticks were the most affected. The rough top turning smooth, the top disc starting to spin (I guess it's a separate piece of rubber from the base), and the whole thing squeaking when moved... I must have put hundreds if not thousands of hours in over the years, so I don't blame them for reaching end of life (the inbuilt battery will eventually die anyway, right?), but I wouldn't say the PS3 controller's sticks are a reliable fall back. They can do better than this.

On the main topic I've been watching this thread because I just got a PS4 and I would like some spare controllers (so I can wear them down and preserve my favourites) but damn... these are super expensive. Again I don't blame them, but it's not pleasing.

It's not hard. Familiarise yourself with some YouTube guides beforehand.

or take it back to the shop, easier that way
you don't have to send it to sony yourself

Hot, bought the magma to go with the Amazon deal I got recently, used clubcard points, so a great deal.

Rubbish, it's a design flaw. My PS3 controllers are still going strong after many years. My first PS4 one (black) went after a month of very little use (about 4 hours use a week, and yes it was well looked after), second one (magma red) has lasted longer but has gone in exactly the same place. Luckily Amazon have given me a refund.
