In terms of RPGs, this is one of the best. Not one of the favourite all time games but one of the best in terms of what makes an RPG.

Your name is Henry and you are pathetic. You're terrible at everything. Don't let that put you off because that's how its supposed to be. You can't read, you can't handle a sword, you cant aim a bow for love nor money. You dont get better by upping your skills and putting points into it (although you can add perks) but you wont necessarily get better. You get better by practising just like in real life. You have to put the hours in to learn how to fight.

In the witcher, you may see a group of bandits and go and destroy everyone because you're a badass. If you try and do that in this game... Just don't, it wont end well for you.

Picklocking is hard because in real life... Its hard. Archery and sword fighting is hard because in real life... Its hard unless you put the effort in to practise and learn. Horse riding is hard etc etc. This game may not be fun for everyone because it doesn't make you feel like a superhero. It's why I call it a proper RPG.

You have to eat to stay alive, you cant eat raw meat or you will get unwell. You can't keep food on you too long or it will go off. Eat too much, you will get bloated a lethargic. You have to wash your clothes and take baths. If you dont sleep you will start blinking heavily and suffer for it. You have to keep your weapons in good condition. You can't walk around town at night without a light or guards will be onto you. If you get a mission, the game will not wait around for you. If you go off and do your own thing then the mission happens without you.

This isn't the Witcher, you cant walk into someone's house and steal everything. If you can get past the lockpicks without waking the residents up then you need to avoid touching anything or being spotted by a dog. If you get spotted you dont get a long warning. You need to get out ASAP.

For £10 this game is a steal if you have the hours to put into it. Its not about doing the missions and progressing as fast as you can. Its about planning your days to learn new skills and only doing the missions when you feel you're ready. It is a masterpiece.

This is one of those games that when I was younger I would have had the time but not the patience, now I’m older I’ve got the patience but not the time.

It’s a real shame because what I managed to play was much more immersive than RDR2, great game if you’re lonely and unemployed, great price for that now as well.

How is this game?

Loved it. Felt very immersed in it. I had it from release and had a fair few bugs, but think they've sorted most.

It’s a questing RPG so can be a real time drain as there’s lots of dialogue and cut scenes. You need to put in the time to level up and progress. If you’ve played Skyrim it’s very similar but more challenging.

I don't think this game suits that approach at all... which is probably why I've played very little of it.
This is one of those games that I can bet pretty much 100% will be on psplus, I have been and shall wait til then, heard mixed things but definitely looks interesting
Anyone know if they have sorted the lockpicking out yet? I remember it being a nightmare to do

The lockpicking is damn near impossible which almost breaks the game.

But the combat is worse in my opinion, I get what they were trying for.. but it's just not fun and doesn't get easy as you get better at it because the hitboxes are all over the place, most fights end with you wildly swinging a sword at someone as it seems to magically go through them without inflicting damage before you are killed with a single stab to the shoulder.

I was hoping they had done something to fix the lockpicking cause I agree with you, it is ridiculous. I enjoyed most other aspects, even the wild flailing but I couldn't progress how I wanted cause I couldn't steal anything
Yeah lock picking and combat ruined it for me also. They just aren't fun which is shame because the rest of the game is decent

Enjoyable, but very niche game. I would say that the ending is one of the worst I've seen for a long while.
The lockpicking has a easy mode now ( not that easy ) but easier than before, hope this helps.

Yeah I still could'nt do it
Tempted as not much out at the minute I haven't played/finished or just have no interest in, just well on the fence with this game with the mixed bag of reviews
It's flawed and brilliant with a steep, very hard learning curve. I almost out it down several times in the first five hours but glad I persisted. It won't be for everyone, like a more realistic, challenging Skyrim.
Just a quick note for anyone they have now stopped patching this game so if it's still broke it ain't getting fixed as the team has moved on to other projects

It was the best game of 2018
The best game of at least last 5 years to me. Such a believable story and all the characters feel real... It is not easy and even frustrating the first couple of hours though
This game has been on my radar for a while. I think I will hold off for a little longer for a physical copy with the DLC at a decent price. If I get it now it will just join the pile of shame i.e. backlog. Heat from me!
I absolutely loved this game on PC - although 50 hours in I got lured away from it by other newer titles, and still need to go back to it.

I'm not sure if a few choice mods on PC made the experience far slicker, but this has to be one of my favourite games from outside my comfort zone (adventurers, shooters, ARPGs) in years.

Story, world and - for me - the combat, which I didn't mod one bit, really make it a stellar title.

You get to throw poo at a house in a side mission

If I hadn't have already purchased it in the sale this would have definitely convinced me
Enjoy the lock picking on console

God, I remember the endless nights of all-nighters on COD and the 24 hour races on Gran Turismo there's no way I'd get time or have the energy to do that now

24 hour races on Gran Turismo 💓💓💓

I remember playing Gran Turismo and doing the 4 hour races like it was no big thing. Now it’s like ‘yes my child has gone to sleep at 10, that gives me about an hour to game’

Rare now mind 😩

That's exactly how I feel, having playing about 60 hours of it on PC. Just gone back for another play for the third time (not starting again, there is loads to do including DLCs)

I find it incredibly relaxing and immersive.

Cannot comment on the issues in the PS4.
What a price for an amazing game. Played on PC but hit a main questline bug so stopped playing. Easily played 50+ hours up to this point. Lovely!

Very well put together. It's exactly that - a masterpiece RPG. Unfortunately, the modern gamer typically wants something that isn't too difficult, doesn't require long sessions and rewards you continously for every little thing... I can't for for the next game from this studio. KC:D beats the Witcher games and I really enjoyed those.

I feel your pain. It sucks being responsible adult.
I loved this game too. At launch it was a mess but is massive improved over time. With a bit of patience you can turn Henry from a fop to a badass
I got this game and I cannot get those tools for the character’s father. That frustrated me so much that I left the game
