A couple of weeks ago I was seriously considering ordering a PS4. There was talk of the games running natively at 1080p whilst the Xbox One was only capable of 720p. The PS4 was looking far and away the console of choice. However the mediocre reviews of the launch titles (Knack included) and the PSN problems has really put me off. All of a sudden the more expensive Xbox One is looking a lot more attractive. Its launch games, 720p or not, look far more appealing.
Let's just hope your ps4 isn't KNACKered....
Knack is obviously for kids
I think if you aren't a COD, Fifa, or fast racing car man, it's a pretty weak launch without Watch Dogs. I guess if you like Assassin's Creed there's always Black Flag on sale stranger!
Xbox1 does have better launch titles but still prefer the ps4 console to Xbox and Sony has better exclusives

Really? oO

Well for one thing, the XB1 launch games haven't even been reviewed yet so they may turn out worse, and the PSN problems you mention are the servers failing on launch day with everyone accessing it at the same time. This happens with every major release these days. The XB1 launches this Friday, I guarantee their network will suffer also for the first 24 to 48 hours.
I think its still a good deal for launch day delivery, considering people on ebay selling their preorders for £50+ , this is cheaper + you get a game with it, might not be a good game, but pretty sure you can get a decent price for it if you trade it in on the day you get it.

I would order this if I didnt make a Game order few days ago, does anyone know if the £20 Game Deposit is refundable? or whether I could get it back in form of giftcard?
I stead of buying an Xbox One, just because the ps4 release games suck, why not just wait until xmas or new year?
This is really tempting, I've heard knack is terrible though!
Does anyone know when they take payment? I want to order but I don'tnt get paid until Friday!?!

Game deposits are refundable, I had mine refunded a while ago. You just ask them on live chat

Games improve as more come out.. but if the hardware's only capable of 720p, it'll always only ever be capable of 720p. And you'll be stuck with that.

Edit: Yes, believe it or not, I am actually aware that Microsoft haven't released a console in 2013 that only does a maximum of 720p outright. I meant any particular game, but I should've known there'd be people that wouldn't take it so speculatively!

Enflamed, the fanboy wars are!

Yes, really. The X1 titles may not have been reviewed yet but its a pretty safe bet that Forza will score considerably better than any of the PS4 launch titles. Then theres DR3, KI and possibly Ryse to score well.

You may well be correct regarding online problems but Live has always been superior to PSN so it may not be the case.

I probably will hold off on buying either at the moment but X1 certainly has the advantage at the moment.

PS I say all of this as a PS3 and not an Xbox owner.

Yeah, because the small amount of launch games for both consoles is what will define the generation isn't it.... (_;)

Yes, because launch games are a good representation of the quality of hardware. Man, imagine if games had got even prettier than Perfect Dark Zero on 360.

Forza 5 is 1080p, NFS Rivals is 1080p, RYSE is 900p

Explain to me how the hardware is only capable of 720p again?

COLD , cant see why any one would buy this when the xbox one is out this week.

Erm, maybe if they don't want an xbox and DO want a PS4??

Made me wonder WTF are Sony doing, least they could do is get the 8 year old kids to switch them on after making them to make sure they work!

But why ? I do not understand why anybody would buy a ps4 over an Xbox one . Well 1 reason actually , they cant afford the extra £80 . So fair enough I suppose .

Virtua Tennis 3 ran at native 1080p on the Xbox 360.

I think some folk are bein harsh on Knack. It seems a good choice if you're buying the console for kids if they're too young for Killzone (I'll leave to judge what age that is). The reviews I've read of Knack don't say its bad, just that it does nothing new. Unimaginative rather than playing badly.
Urgh, I think I'm just gonna play through the amazing selection of PS3 titles I have in my backlog and buy a PS4 when it has some decent games on it. Don't want to pay £385 to be an unpaid bug tester, playing beta versions of games until the patches come in. I hate how this industry screws over the day-one adopters.

yep the xbox one is so underpowered but its strange how it has the best looking launch game of all the next gen consoles in Ryse that i have played by the way and its great fun also the xbox one has a far better launch line up.but have fun playing cack sorry knack and borezone.
before anyone calls me a fanboy i own every console and have both xbox one and ps4 preordered and am looking forward to playing them both.i just get pi**ed of with uneducated fools talking crap.
its PS4 for me simply because battlefield 4 is all I'm after, however the xbox has the superior line up now even tho games like Dead Rising drop to like 20fps in places
