This is my kind of game (I thoroughly enjoyed Colony Wars all those years ago) but I'm 36 now with 3 kids and an ever growing backlog of unplayed games - at least a quarter of them being HD remakes of classics from yesteryear. I'm tempted but there's no point as there's no knowing when I'd get round to playing it.

Makes me reminisce about the days when I was 20 something, single and gaming into the early hours of the morning in Medal of Honor and Battlefield Vietnam team deathmatches. I don't regret becoming a father but I do miss those days of gaming liberty

Is this game finally living up to all the hype before its release then?! Basically is it worth me parting with a tenner so I can put this in my massive back log of ps4 games?!

I hated the game upon release, but absolutely think it Is Ace now, well worth 9.99
Cheers for the reply just wondering might take the plunge!

Wish the PC version was this cheap!
Yes, it should have been released like this but it's nice to know companies can turn things round with hard work. I can imagine they were pressured into releasing it whether they wanted to or not.

If you haven't played NMS at all then you're in for a treat as the game stands now and it's only going to get better. There is so much content for a tenner! A very relaxing game indeed.

It was fairly cheap until yesterday, it was 15.99 on Steam and GOG

Sold my PS4 copy on not long after the official release date... Couldn't get in to No Man's Sky at all & it looked so good in the video reviews by the developers. Tempted to give it another try to see if update fixes/added content make the game as good as it was hyped up to be... #HEAT
Got the platinum on this - hoping for maybe a GOTY equivalent with separate trophy list

Indeed, I went to buy it about an hour after the sale finished

That's one way of masking the bugs I guess!

I bought a cheap physical copy a couple of weeks okay on ps4 to see if I really would like the game, then jumped on the pc version once the update landed, well worth it, PC version looks sharper and crisper, but I am running a regular non pro ps4.
Does this work with PSVR?

Sell the kids on eBay whilst you can still get something for them mate, you'll regret you didn't once they've reached teenagehood
It's £9.99 on psn store too.

Been playing it for the last week and it's awesome.

Permadeath mode really adds to the gameplay. I always thought the game was too easy.

Ah! Must have expired in the last day or two! It was £9.99 when I bought it.
Ordered and heat. Thanks, Buzz.

I really fancied playing this, but the bad reviews put me off. Glad to see they've updated it.

Can someone briefly tell me what they've done to update it, please? Are they still updating the game?
Great deal, especially for a tenner.

NMS really is a decent game now, but it's not for everyone. It doesn't hand-hold or give you specific instruction on everything you need to do, like most games nowadays. It leaves you to find your own path. The latest update has also improved pretty much every aspect of the game, and there is still more to come.

It really is stunning game visually, also...

i was also interested in this game when they launched it, how you wold rate this game, it sounds like there is no story and gets repetitive after a while?
Still not worth the tenner. Once it drops to about £4 i'll bite.
Given the new update, I decided to get my old copy out and see what's happened. I was shocked to find everything I built, including my home planet and base has been totally wrecked by this update??? ALL my staff are gone - the work stations and objects inside have disappeared, the doors are missing and the corridors are in the wrong places and they don't even line up or connect anymore - I can't access half the rooms and my home base now needs to be demolished?? There's a bloke in my base and the teleport thing doesn't work and says I've never used it - despite the fact that I used it loads of times etc. Most of my resources have gone from my inventories. My ship's systems are damaged and inoperable. Everything I put outside my base is missing. My home planet which I chose because it was pleasant and had lush green grass, no sentinels, minerals, perfect climate etc. is now a barren toxic purple landscape with nothing there except sentinels trying to kill me. I also can't breathe not only outside my base, but also inside my base lol??? My life support systems drop instantly if I'm inside my own base. What the hell have they done??? Everything was in perfect condition when I last saved game. I went through so much pain, suffering and monotony to get where I had got in this game and they've wrecked everything. I'm going to have start completely from fresh again. Can someone confirm if you start again, do the learnt languages all reset or does your language knowledge remain?? I'd rather kill myself than go through all that again.

Decided to finally take a punt on this, made all the sweeter by having points with TheGameCollection that were about to expire. Thanks for the heads up!
Hot, but still prefer Elite Dangerous

Bases etc got messed up as the devs had to regenerate the No Man's Sky universe to accomodate all the new feature and improvements. Unfortunately some peoples bases got messed up during it (what do you expect when you regenerate a universe)

Most players within the NMS community/player-base have totally welcomed this though as it has made so many improvements to the game that it's worth the potential base issues, etc.

If you just forget that base and move on with your current game, maybe find somewhere else to set up base, all your other progress is still there.

Another option, which quite a lot of people have gone for, is to just start a new game. This is good because you'll get the benefit of all the new content, missions, graphical improvements, gameplay improvements from the start again.

I went for the first option. Just left my base and went out into the stars to find somewhere new.

Had this since launch as I love this sort of thing but got sidetracked and couldn't really get in to it , seemed a mess at launch but with the new patch I'm ready to get exploring again, worth a punt at this price

I am not in the habit of giving developers who blatantly lie about their products, my hard earned money. They ruined any chance of being well respected when they first released this game. I have plenty of friends who confirm that it is still not worth playing, but they agree that should the game go on offer somewhere for 'cheaper than a meal' then it would be worth it.
With the new updates this game is now definitely worth buying . It gets alot or stick but the devs have committed to regular updates and now pretty much working towards how they imagined the game with future free game updates committed
Currently out of stock.

I'm 46 and now have time back now the daughter is grown up a bit. Unfortunately I didn't get the reflexes back
Well worth it been great since updates
Out of stock

On a related note, NMS was on sale for the same price during PSN's Summer Sale (which ended 2 days ago), but a physical copy is always better as it will retain some trade-in value if you ever want to sell it.
Tried it on the recent Steam deal. Couldn't really see what all the fuss was about to be fair. Got a refund through Steam. Great price for PS4 though.
