Now that the specs & aim of Scorpio has been revealed [another 4K mid-gen refresh, albeit better than PS4 Pro - to what cost though?] i'm looking forward to seeing Sony aggressively drop PS4 Slim/Pro come the end of the year, that's when i think i'll bite for a PS4 Pro... 4K doesn't interest me (at present) but 1080p60 options for existing 900/1080p30 titles does (Nioh, FFXV, Rise of the Tomb Raider, No Man's Sky).

Still heat though, when factoring the cost of Horizon
Great price. Bought the same bundle for £365 last month as Argos never had any stock in my area.

I was tempted to wait for the Scorpio, but as someone who isn't interested in Forza and has a passing interest in Gears and Halo, I chose the Pro due to the awesome exclusives coming in the next few years. If Microsoft announce some great exclusives at E3, I'll just play them on my One S.
It's really surprising how little games the Xbox has, so few that I have zero interest in the Scorpio now. It's sad as I loved my old 360, all three of them.
I'd prefer a Scorpio for its power and UHD Blu-ray drive, but all the games I'm interested in are Sony exclusives.
(already playing the Microsoft games in 4K on PC). Waiting for a price drop on the PS4 Pro seems like the logical decision.

Except you need to wait for end of the year when all the amazing games are out now, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Yakuza 0, Nioh and Nier Automata. If you want to go cheap just grab a slim now

Also lol at hoping for good performance for no mans buy

NMS has been patched to support a practically locked 1080p/60fps on the PS4 Pro actually.
No stock near me at all for either console or game
No Pro stock near me either, so I just ordered a like-new PS4 Pro with Resident Evil 7 and Infinite Warfare off ebay for £300, only 3 weeks old barely used apparently, with the GAME receipt also, will sell the games should get a like-new PS4 Pro for £270

Too bad it still hasn't been patched to be even remotely close to being a fun game
I've been an avid Xbox owner for the past 8 years but the past few years have been pretty dire with the exclusives getting really stale I'm going to get the pro just don't know when to bite the bullet

This is one of the reasons I'm not investing in any 4K tech or discs. Sony struck a massive blow to the format when it failed to included 4K disc support in the PS4 Pro, and the format isn't impressive enough to warrant purchase of another piece of hardware just to play 4K discs. I heard from someone within the industry that 4K sales are well below expectations, so it may not last that long anyway before a better tech replaces it.
I've just about convinced myself to wait for E3. Hoping for either a further Pro price drop or any word on a "Slim Pro" for the holiday season to tempt would-be Scorpio customers. In any case, this is a good deal for now.

I'm interested to see how the release of Planet Earth II impacts the uptake of 4K tech. I know of a few people who have bought the discs already (it's only ~£5 more expensive than the BR version, which it includes) and are seriously looking at an XBox One S as a player. I wonder if that's a big enough market that Sony will look at announcing their own 'Pro Plus' console with UHD drive to compete?

I have a PS4 so people will assume I'm biased, however I don't care whose better than who or who isn't, what I will say is the PS4 gives me really awesome exclusive games that I can't play on the PC/Xbox One and until I see evidence that the Scorpio will be doing that too then I won't be even considering of purchasing one. The PS4 and PC allow to me play almost any game out there except Nintendo titles of course.

I'm PS4 too, and now that the line has been drawn by MS, Sony is bound to counter the Christmas run-up with bundle/console discounts, leveraging their exclusives (certainly this year) in the process, and as i'm dealing with a massive 2015/2016 backlog already, that could be just the right timing with hitting the late 2016/2017 backlog and the PS4 Pro being a mighty competitive price.

I just thought other HUKD-ers [who perhaps aren't as nerdy as myself] might benefit from the information.
It's about time some deals were coming out for the Pro. Hopefully it'll soon be at my price point of £130. (_;)

I don't care if the code is from Frank or Dave. As long as it makes it £130.

BTW - This bundle is also at this price at Very. If you can get a code to work it might end up at a very nice price.

At the moment, Sony are releasing many excellent games. Horizon is brilliant - half way through his one. I definitely want to play Nier Automata and Persona 5 at some point as well.

I'd expect the PS4 Pro to be priced really aggressively when Scorpio lands - Sony will certainly want to dampen the excitement come its release with some great bundles.

I like Digital Foundary but their Scorpio exclusive did come across more as a promo video than an objective look at the HW. Whether a 6 terraflops GPU with a fairly poor CPU converts into native 4k at both 30 and 60 fps is also going to be interesting - even 1080p at 60 fps might be a struggle on some games given the Pro results (CPU!!). I know they were bigging up the design optimisations but I'm always suspicious of the marketing guff and how this translates - we get plenty of this from Nvidia.

I hope Scorpio does well but the list of MS exclusives this year is terrible. The big question is whether the upgraded experience for the current catalogue will have mass appeal or will it merely be an enthusiasts piece of kit. I personally think it needs to be around £350 given the current Pro price and the fact it's come a year later.
just got new sealed 1tb slim amazon with call of duty legacy edition for £179. was going to get pro but double the cost felt too much.

If you can wait until 13th June. Sony will have their E3 conference. They may show a new style PS4 pro, as in limited edition colour, UHD blu ray, larger TB internal etc and most importantly a new price range to aggressively target the Scorpio. Sony know, hands down they have the better exclusive games at present, but a drop in price for the pro or a few added bits (maybe a VR bundle) may well happen. I am in the same boat and I already have the original PS4 (upgraded internal 2TB) and a Xbox one s. Getting a 4K tv finally about August this year, so I will be glued to E3 to get more info on a possible different style pro.

I doubt they will add a UHD player. Other than custom colours, it would **** off the people who already bought a Pro the last 6 months if they remodelled it so soon.
Very tempted to buy this but don't know whether to hold off and see if there's any better deals come easter weekend.
Briefly used a Pro and looked amazing - but noisy which I've read some are - but then it made me plug my original style PS4 in and games also look amazing on that (same TV, tried Uncharted on both), couldn't really see much difference and HZD looks amazing as well. So seems silly when the PS4 I have got, hadnt been out the box for 2-3 months and hadnt been used for even longer (as definitely an Xbox girl for multi-plat games).
Hoping the scorpio brings down the price of this will stick to my pc if I want high-end gaming , otherwise I'm happy with my original ps4 but when that dies I'll go for a ps4 pro as I need the optical port (_;)

I would be very surprised if you see anything other than new styling.

Why do you think Sony failed to include UHD drive on the Pro when they know it would have brought more sales, either they are very stupid or it wasn't cost effective.

I think the UK price of the Scorpio will surprise a lot of people and not in a good way, unless MS are going to eat the cost.

I have had an Xbox One S since last Autumn and bought Planet Earth 2 last week as I've recently upgraded to a 2017 65 inch 4K Sony telly and it bricked on Thursday night, like the day before the 4K blu-ray disc even arrived

Microsoft customer service have been useless as ever, 3 days on after contacting them and they said to send it to them for repairs they've still not managed to get UPS to send me the shipping labels to send it off. Turns out Game who I bought from seem to have changed their warranty returns policy recently so I'm able to back it to them for a straight exchange instead but seeing I got the Storm Grey edition I don't want it replaced with a white one.

If Sony believe a 'Pro Slim' with a UHD drive built in will sell by the bucket load and put Scorpio to the sword before it even launches they will go with it regardless of what early adopters think and say.

Everyone said it was a mistake launching the Pro without it and maybe they will end back tracking because business is business after all.

..and that is why mine is advertised for sale "just in case" Sony dare do it - the little ****!
Scorpio is tipped to retail at £499-599 because of all the custom hardware being used (see about how they are dictating power voltage based on the silicon lottery you get). Theirs will be aimed at extremely high end - the Pro is aimed at mid to high. The 4K HDR content is great, I have a Pro and now pretty much everything supports its been a great purchase.
Don't think Sony need to drop the price tbh.
I just want to play bloodborne at 60FPS. Will PS4 Pro let me do that?
