Best way to put together learning how to play guitar with entertainment on playstation4.

Usually cant find this very cheap, but this isthe best price I ever seen for ps4.

If you require cable - just buy i CeX xbox360 game with real tone cable for 15gbp. So game + cable in the end makes it 22gbp, which is still a steal

Might want to grab an optical out cable to to combat the slight lag between guitar picking and hearing it on TV.
May I ask? Are you absolutely sure it will accept the cable supplied in the Xbox One bundle?
I've let the kids have the Xbox and I now have a PS4...but I still have Rocksmith 😁
...if that makes sense
It should, they are all identical (the ones supplied with game).
But on the safe side ill double check it as on ps4 i havent tried yet since bought just now.

100% yes, the cable is universal. You can also use it with the Steam version and play custom DLC

No need you can change it in game.
Thanks guys. Wanted to be sure before I commit

This is a really important point, HDMI audio lag can make the game borderline unplayable. There's nothing in the game or your TV settings that will change this. If you're playing on a PS4 Slim with no optical out, caveat emptor.

I've heard that the absolute best way to minimise lag is to play on a PSVR headset, but I play on XBox so haven't tried it myself. I suspect it's also a brilliant way of learning to play without constantly looking at where your fingers are!

Quoted for truth. Don't even entertain picking this up if you have a slow flatscreen. It's absolutely utterly unplayable on my OLED compared to how it responds on my laptop
I’ve been waiting for this to comedown.

Can you use any jack to usb cable? You can pick them up on ebay for £10 but didn’t know if it has to be one supplied with the Rocksmith game
I've always wanted to learn to play guitar and have a ps4....what else do I need with this to learn...?

You can hack the PC version to work with most USB audio interfaces, but for PS4 it really needs to be the Real Tone cable
Good deal got one last time big downside is they are very easy to tangle on the cable return, closed face ones are much better but double the cost
Ah great, this means goodbye ps3

Just need the game, console, cable, electric guitar (Or acoustic with pickups or usb microphone) and fingers. Good luck. It's a great journey. been playing via Rocksmith for 7+ years now.

For lag issues, turn off all TV processing, or go to "Game" mode which is essentially the same.

If you have sound through AV amp, again turn off all processing. Do not play in 5.1/7.1. Set amp to "Pure" or "Straight" stereo.

And if you can use Optical out for sound, this will be even better. Pretty much essential to be honest.

Cable is universal. Can be used on PS3/4 Xbox360/One and PC/mac versions.

Think this is worth it for me just to have as a download!

No you can't. You 100% need an optical cable. Lag is unbearable through hdmi

Rocksmith 2014 remastered hasn't required the 'no cable' hack on the PC for quite sometimes now.
You can just go into the game and select (ctrl) input/path on the main menu, and then toggle the audio input from rocksmith cable to Microphone. As long as you've got a mic of some sort to plug your guitar into it'll work. Depending on the quality of the mic your results will vary - but very nice if you happen to only have, or want to use an accustic guitar too.

For the optical out commentors, will optical out ps4 - optical in to the tv be ok or does it need to be optical out to a dedicated sound output?

You must have a really bad setup, I have used it through many console and TV setups and have been able to use the ingame correction with very little to no lag.
I've played this on Xbox One and PS4 with optical cable and minimal processing straight to sound system, with game mode on HDMI-connected Sony tv. Can confirm the realtone cable works on both systems but the sound delay makes it unplayable imo- of course your experience may differ, but I would strongly recommend getting the pc version with realtone cable and playing through 3.5mm wired stereo pc speakers/headphones for the best experience with minimal lag.

Yeah mate, me and pretty much everyone else in this thread.
I run it into an amp via hdmi and it unplayable like everybody else has mentioned, but optical from the psr direct to amp is flawless.
Even better if you get a splitter and run it to an amp too so you can actually hear what you really sound like

I'd say 75% need an optical cable. Just got this tonight on PS4 pro after owning on xb360, xbone, pc it's actually fine lag wise with hdmi on PS4 pro with a Sony 49" xd80 TV. I was pleasantly surprised as Xbox versions were terrible on a Sony 55" W9 TV.
With Xbox we used an optical to jack converter from eBay which cost just a couple of quid and plugged it into a Bluetooth speaker aux input. That was the easiest way.

So do you need a real-tone cable no matter what? Not understanding optical out. I don’t have receiver. Just PS4 pro into tv via hdmi.
Excellent price thanks, never seen it this cheap. Had it twice then sold it and immediately regretted it, so good to have it back!
Is this about for pc too at this price. I bought it before but cant remember where lol I use a hacked version with cDLC

No. You can get away with using a USB microphone and an acoustic guitar. No Realtone cable required. However the quality of your gaming will be proportionate to the quality of your microphone and surroundings. With kids running around banging doors, don't expect miracles from the microphone.

I would recommend you get Realtone cable and use an electric guitar.

The optical cable for your PS4 pro also isn't a necessity, but using HDMI into your TV might show up some lag. A split second from when you pick a note on the guitar to hearing the sound from your TV. Imperceptible for most games, but with something a critical as playing music, that tiny delay will throw you right off. You may be fine. I chose my TV specifically with the lowest lag avaiable for this very reason.

Thank you very much. Son has electric guitar so real tone cable it is, not too worried about lag as it’ll just get him playing it!
