Since their original release, Shenmue I & II have established a passionate following and are revered as one of gaming’s greatest series of all time. These revolutionary masterpieces deliver a gripping story of retribution as Ryo Hazuki sets out to avenge his father’s death and attempts to unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artefact known as the Dragon Mirror.

Shenmue I & II comes complete with the original feature set that defined modern gaming, including enthralling jujitsu combat, investigative sleuthing, and RPG elements in addition to memorable mini-games. Shenmue I & II is set within engrossing real-time open worlds that feel truly alive thanks to day-to-night cycles and weather changes, with a population of civilians who follow their own schedules.

This is the definitive version of these all-time classics and will be the best Shenmue experience to date. The re-release will stay true to the originals with modernised features including fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.

Ordered. Cheers
I need it to go down by £1, does this not have a lot of bugs?

Thanks op
I want to play Shenmue 3 but not sure I want to revisit the first 2 games. As much as loved them they were slow paced with all the loading. The graphics were utterly amazing for the day, beautiful and like a real virtual world but games have gone well beyond those graphics now.

I'd be interested to know if those who have re-visited the game enjoyed it with a strong sense of nostalgia or actually were disappointed and lost interest rather than playing through fully again. I sort of think of it as a game for those who never played these first 2 episodes but need to do so before playing Shenmue 3. I played through Shenmue 2 on both Dreamcast and original xbox and don't think I want to play through again but not sure.

I'm also very interested to know, I've never played them but the story looks fascinating and that it could be a very unique and special set of games under the surface of what I've seen (not much gameplay actually). Woildnt the remasters have done away with any long loading times? I'd be interested to get 3 down the line if I enjoy the series. Also interested to know if there's any other games it could be compared to at all.

Well if you enjoyed the games simply because of the graphics, you played them for all the wrong reasons. The story, the culture, the music are three aspects that trump graphics for me. I can go back and play them, anytime, even on the Dreamcast.

Loading times have improved in the PS4/Xbox One versions.

Other games that can be compared to the Shenmue series would be the Yazuka series of games.

What was great about these games is that you have to figure things out yourself like where to find the tattoo parlour and the warehouse by talking to people. it doesnt have way points telling you where to go so you can get stuck easily. However, if you have already played it you will know exactly exactly where to go so you end up just going through the motions... which you may find boring

I enjoyed the games for the atmosphere, adventure and telling of the story plus I guess an interest in Japan itself. There was the fighting and QT events too. It was the great graphics that that made the world so immersive and atmospheric I think. What was not so great was the loading times.
That's an amazing price for both those games, they were so ahead of their time, with an amazing atmosphere, based on real locations of that time, and a great story. If I didn't already have it, I'd have snapped it up.
