Try explaining to that 8 year old why they have a gambling problem at 20 years old because you allowed a company to hook them into paying money to try to unlock stuff that used to be unlocked normally through gameplay at a sensible rate of progression. It takes over 3500 hours to unlock everything for the online unless you pile money into their gambling system.

That’s a worst case scenario too. At best, you’ve wasted your money because they’ll lose interest in it due to the way the game is designed and how they can’t play as their favourite characters.

Sure, it’s just a “vendetta” though. It’s not like we’ve been playing games without this crap for years, is it?

I'm sure he'll understand when he's played the game for 40+ hours and still can't play as Luke or Vader in a Star Wars game

Fair point, that will come in handy for BF2.

Death threats, loot boxes and deleted Tweets (Matt Everett, EA Community Manager). EA really know how to launch a game. Just when you think the negative history has faded from them.

Makes the console around £215 which is a cracking price. It's just a shame it's pretty damn ugly.

Well that got off post quick didn't it.

If you wanted a 1tb slim and were a star wars fan its a pretty fair deal considering the price of the elite game version on its own. And if you wanted to go the other way and flip the game for £40 - £50 its not a bad price for a 1tb slim unit + you could probably flip the ltd ed controller as well for decent money grab a regular v2 and still come out ahead.

Actually it is only the reward from completing the single player which used to be 20,000 credits and is now 5000 which is fair enough.

It’s a deck chair off the titanic when they’ve reduced the credits earned from the campaign by 75% too, without telling anyone. Reviewers are checking what other things they reduced now too. The arcade mode has a limit on credits awarded as well and after so many games, it locks you from earning them for 14 hours.

Well that got off post quick didn't it.

Not really. It’s about the game included with the console.

Ugly! Battlefront 1 console was lovely, this is a let down

It used to be

Vadar - 60k
Skywalker - 60k
Finish the sp - +20k

Total: 100k

It is now

Vadar - 15k
Skywalker - 15k
Finish the sp - +5k

Total: 25k

75% less.

Cold for the amount you are expected to pay to unlock stuff. Please don't promote this. Especially to kids for Christmas. It's wrong.

The gaming industry is going down a really dirty route and it's a shame. I dread to think what we'll be seeing in the coming years.

The problem for me is the balance. In my opinion, the enthusiastic gamer who puts hours and hours in to a game should NOT feel like the one missing out. If anything it should be the reverse - the person who just pays for everything should feels like they're missing out for not playing. To make a game so devoid of progression and reward and make people resort to paying to actually avoid playing the game is just ridiculous. I think microtransactions will stay forever now due to the success they've had, however there needs to be more reward and incentive for the genuine player and not for the payer.

Sorry for the ramble, I'm just sad to see the way things are headed like most of you guys.

yeah it get that, I was referring to all the bitching about ethics. It is what it is and i'm pretty sure no one from EA is monitoring hukd for feedback its probably best taken up with them directly. I'm also not a fan of paying extra for content that should be inc but i manage to keep it together daily.

Is this a fair price for what it is? i think so.

I recognise that they are actively changing it to make it easier and quicker to unlock, but look past that.

Weapons and game changing attributes are still locked behind the lootcrate paywall system.

Of course you don't have to buy them but that leaves you at an unfair disadvantage compared to people paying to unlock stuff.

And all that on top of the £50 you're paying for the game? Just doesn't sit well with me at all

I wouldn’t call it bitching. I’d call it people letting others know, that may not otherwise know, what this game involves before spending their hard earned money.

This isn’t about paying for extra content that should be included. It’s about content you pay for, being locked unless you treat playing the game as a part time job or pay them more money for a chance (not a guarantee) of unlocking said content.

Nice insults there by the way. “Bitching” and how you “manage to keep it together”.

Its not the be all and end all re the game. Some people have a gripe with EA and that's ok but i dont work for them, its just a post on deal site. A % of this deal doesn't come my way! + no one is applying for a loan so they can play this its not the end of the world.

It appears I needled you because you don’t like people discussing the negative aspect of a deal you posted and I pointed out how you cannot discuss without accusing others of not being able to “keep it together” and saying they’re “bitching” .

Either way, I’m really not fussed about a muting but thanks for telling me anyway, “buddy”.

The weapons and attributes are not "locked" behind a paywall you can earn them in game.

You can buy faster unlocks and weapons but you can't buy skill.
A 10-20% increase in firerate that anyone can unlock without spending real cash will not magically make a standard player better in a 20 vs 20 match.

If it's bad p2w bs I will trade it in after a week after I finish the campaign and some mp.

You can buy lootcrates that give you the chance to unlock star cards and weapons faster, but it isn’t a guarantee you can get what you want from them because they’re like pokemon cards. You have no idea what is inside. 3500+ hours to unlock everything without paying for lootcrates, is pretty much a paywall. That’s just an over the top for a progression system that wasn’t in games a couple of years ago. That’s the main problem.

store.playstation.com/en-…VER

^EA did these timesaver packs back on PS3/360 and nobody had an issue with that because it was a one off payment. These lootcrates are an extension of it, designed to put a lot more money back in their pocket.

The skill vs paying argument have already been disproven too. There are videos showing how someone managed to get all the star cards for Vader and he was unstoppable. Same with Starfighter Assault. The cards do make the game unbalanced.

Hope you enjoy the campaign though. I was really looking forward to that as it looks like it will bridge Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens a little. Hopefully EA will sort the multiplayer progression system out in time too.

You earn crafting credits from the boxes and you can use them to unlock any weapon or attribute you want so you can pick and choose.

3500+ hours was the number before the 75% decrease and it didn't take credits earned from the challenges into account and I am pretty sure they change from week to week.

As I said if it's in anyway bad on the mp side it's getting traded in and if not I will enjoy the free dlc without ever spending a penny on loot boxes or a season pass.
