Rejoin Ellie and Joel

Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors.

Complex and emotional story

When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

Encounter new survivor groups, unfamiliar and treacherous environments, and terrifying evolutions of the infected. Experience the escalating moral conflicts created by Ellie's relentless pursuit of vengeance. The cycle of violence left in her wake will challenge your notions of right versus wrong, good versus evil, and hero versus villain.

Really want this game, really don’t want to pay £45

I would wait few weeks. This game will be on sale very quickly.

See I don't think it will, I think this will hold it's price for a while.

I buy them, and as soon as I am done straight off to cex.
Most of the time you get around the value you paid if done within a week or two. Worse case you lose between £5-£10. Which I am more than happy to do with new games.

I do the same but on eBay with the £1 FVP offers.

Totally agree with this.

If Cex are anything to go by for recent enough big games, you'll get at the very minimum £33/36 even if you end up spending a few weeks with the game. Especially for a story driven game which many are unlikely to replay soon, it's a bargain in that sense, way better than forking out the same price for it digitally.

Seems you finish games super quick, it takes me months! Although right now CEX site says they buy it for £40 voucher, so you would lost £5 if you sold upon release, I'm assuming that will drop to £30ish in a couple of weeks?

Yeah, when I get a new game I am done within a week. That way I can maximize the return on it.

I'm more than happy getting 65-75% or so back after a couple of months if I've completed it. Did that for the last 2 games I bought at launch and played 60+ hours of each (FF7 Remake and Death Stranding). Also Switch games hold their price for years. The main thing is being able to quickly get rid of things that I dont enjoy playing and not feeling like I've lost out

whats death stranding like, i have been looking at buying that?
For people like me who take a while to finish games, this might be useful:

Was curious how CEX trade in prices (for voucher, not cash) last after a few months.

Doom eternal: released March 20, 2020, now worth £24 for trade in
Death stranding: released nov 2019, now worth £18 for trade in
If the leaks are true, I expect a high volume of copies in Ebay and Cex after friday.

Can't believe they took this road with the story, bold but will split the fan base. Also the bait and switch trailers , very poorly handled.

Yep I've been doing this for years, get to play brand new games for less than a tenner most of the time
When do people expect this will arrive? I'm wondering whether cancel preorder to save £5

Agree, the first was a masterpiece but my expectations for the sequel are low. A wait and see.

Same. From what I hear is that the game give you a mud pie and they force you to eat it through half the game. That's why reviewers where told not discuss that part of the game. Will split the fan base guaranteed.
mannin18/06/2020 12:41

Almost impossible to answer.

For me the only thing you do is walk, for hours, and they've somehow made that very annoying and then interspersed it with long dry cutscenes. Some people think it's absolute mastery and an amazing piece of art wrapped in an incredible game.
mannin18/06/2020 12:12

See I don't think it will, I think this will hold it's price for a while.

I think it will drop in price fast, its a one and done 25 hour game with gameplay that was getting stale on the PS3. These games where you walk along a predefined narrow corridor and trigger cut scenes along the way are out of date. Hopefully Naughty Dog will drop the formula they use for all their games and do something new for the PS5. This is supposed to be boring and difficult to play through, just like Uncharted 4 was, the gameplay loop gets stale and repetative fast.

I adored the first game - my favourite character / story driven game of the last and this gen consoles. I've avoided the leaks and refuse to be swayed by critic reviews these days, but the more I read about it as the release arrives, the less I think I want to play it and just remember the first game for what it was.

I'm really not in the place for a relentlessly bleak and gruelling trek through a world of unlikable characters with no redeeming qualities to speak of. I've lived that for real the past 3 months. I hope it rewards players in the same way the first rewarded me, but I need light rather than dark right now.
mannin18/06/2020 12:41

I'm enjoying it. It's a weird sci-fi story, and the gameplay is all about trekking across the landscape, balancing the need to carry lots of cargo, vs being nimble and armed enough to fight off enemies.

It's surprisingly additive and mostly quite relaxing. And it's more accessible than you may expect, with quirky humour at times.

But it's not for everyone, it's definitely not all action like Uncharted or similar.

Yep, same, it's usually £32 or sometimes even £36 cash you get back for the big new games if you sell them within the first few weeks of release date. More if you trade.

Vast majority of games I don't keep once I've finished them.

Honestly from what I read of the leaks, if you adored the first game and you loved Joel and Ellie characters, I would stay away from this game for now. The game with force you to like characters on you don't want to and the ending is a massive WTF

They sent my preorder out (made end of last week) today but with DPD next day, so you might get lucky with a quick delivery, if they're still dispatching them this afternoon.

Unrelated but it's amazing how many negative comments this game seems to attract based on apparent leaks. I can't imagine willingly watching/reading the leak of a game series I enjoy so it's hard to believe people's views on leaks will have any bearing on how good the game actually is.

The first hour or so is now available to watch on YouTube from multiple reputable sources. I wasn't convinced to buy from the preview and marketing materials as seemed more of the same and needlessly bleak but watching first hour change my perspective entirely.

looking forward to this Friday, reviews been great. The reviewers been asked not to spoil the story which they haven't, then most have given it ten out of ten ? so they must have liked it... Don't really worry about reviews, not unless they are terrible completely across the board (this saved me buying games like Anthem and Fallout 76 thankfully !!!)

As for the leaks, about certain characters, couldn't care less , they are characters in a computer game ! if some are killed or whatever (not seen any leaks so i don't know) i'll be fine as long as i enjoy the game.. Naughty Dogs track record is impeccable....

i'm a gamer, and this is the next big game out, I liked the first one, i'll buy it, play it , i might like it, i might not, certainly hope i do.....

i'll finish it, trade it in and move onto the next game whatever that may be...... If i hate it, its gets traded in much earlier ( i did that with RDR2 - really couldn't get on with that game)

Not your thing don't buy it.. not sure, then wait till it comes down in price. Don't think this will be a quick price-drop game... The first game still has a decent trade in price and how old is that !!

And if you only have an xbox, well, nothing to see here, move along

Same... Little tired of the whole rumours of characters/ending etc which I have stayed far away from reading. For me I am looking forward to the sequel. I bought the original on the PS3, upgraded to PS4 with the Last of Us Remastered pack. Traded my PS4 & games for then Days of Play Blue edition 2 years back then 2 months ago saw remastered online for £9 and replayed the whole thing again.

Point is that I am looking forward to this game and will enjoy it for what it is
It will soon drop by £10 or £15. Saying that, new PS1 games in 1998 were about £40 so it's a very fair price for all the work that has gone into it.

I agree. I hope they dont grind it out with loads of DLC and in game purchases. Personally I am waiting for the GOTY though as I just don't have the money at the moment. I'm sure it will be an amazing experience. Naughty dog always produce the goods.
