You didn't read the article properly and it's all speculation anyway.
They're taking about a brand new PSVR not the sightly tweaked V2

Nearly gone good find
I'd pay the extra for a bundle. Your gonna want the games soon enough anyways, and this looks like v1

Great deal for those with a camera or Move controllers though - heat!
Its a V1 per the style of the head band and not worth the price in my view. Can pick up a V2 for not too much more.

PSVR V2 will be compatablie with the forthcoming Playstation 5, version 1 isn't apparently Something worth considering

The breakout box supports the passthrough of HDR and the earbud solution is a bit different - they've added a place for you to put the earbuds when they're not in use and in general the earbuds are more tidy when in use.

(Course, I think the earbuds that came with v2 are pretty bad so I don't use them anyway. :P).
Version 1 is missing the Camera as well I think, it's included with Version 2

Interesting article though that.

It would suggest that much of the brains behind the headset (the breaker box) could end up being built into the console; thus reducing the bulk and cost of the PSVR kits.

Again all of this is conjecture and depends a lot on how successful Sony feels VR is. Right now I'm not sure we're really seeing the best of what VR can offer so I've not jumped in as yet. Still...it's massively more successful than Sony's first attempt at VR back in the 90s
It's v1, worthless.
V1 isn’t worthless at all.

Got my Version 2 this time last year for Xmas, ended up paying full whack for it though through Argos. Pleased with it though
Just wanted to chip in that I've picked this refurb bundle from their eBay shop the last time this was posted (same price too) and it turned to be V2 with a cam included.

If their last listings are any indication the picture is wrong as they actually supply the Starter Pack which is the V2 kit with camera
Mine came today.. It was V2 as suggested by others.
I hate it.
Blurry on corners of image. Really obvious on the ps menu etc.
I had a headache after using it even though I didn't play any games.
Cables everywhere..
Had to get my eyes as close as possible to the lens but still has edge blue.
Not particularly comfy.

I didn't even try the vr games as I don't want to put myself through using it. I may get used to it over time but I don't think it will do my eyes any good.
Good luck to others though.. Mine is going back.

So you haven't used any VR content and you hate it ? Of course the PS menus are blurry, they are not VR but that doesn't matter. As long as you can see enough to launch the games then that is all that matters - or do it without the headset on if its so bad. Stick on AstroBot and it will all change. I had the right hump with the setup procedure and cabling etc but once you get stuck into that game it all becomes worth it. I haven't played a non-VR game since owning mine

I had already posted on other threads that I wanted it to watch films in bed, play some games etc. Black ops 4 was in the ps4 (I only use my ps4 to play lan miltiplayer with friends). I moved around an empty map for literally 2 minutes without even trying to concentrate and it made me feel ill.
I appreciate that some people love vr games but like I said, the dodgy blur in corners, motion sickness etc means that I want to quit before I decide that I want to play vr on it.
I have plenty of games to play but I end up watching sport etc instead anyway really.

Same occurred with my Partner, put the headset on, went underwater in one of the Shark Demo's which came with VR Worlds, and she was feeling sick after. I tried it, was fine Was also getting the same issue with the burred edges, tried re-syncing the headset to the camera, and eventually got it a tad clearer upon re-positioning the camera.

Not everyone can play VR right away.

You need to make sure that it's focused with it sitting correct on your face.

If you feel sick or headaches then you need to start off with small sessions and work it up to longer gaming sessions.

Things to try

Play sitting down
Have a fan gently blowing against you to give sense of direction.

Travel sickness pills or eat something with lots of ginger

Sadly I was one of those people that despite everything I tried, I got chronic sickness and headaches.

I thought the immersion was brilliant with the VR but the graphics were utterly crap!
