The WipEout Omega Collection’s PSVR update has been released and is available today

I've linked to the PlayStation Store. Here's the article on the blog

AG Pilots, the time is upon you. It’s time for you to experience WipEout in a way you have never experienced it before. Suit up and put on your PSVR headsets, because this is a rollercoaster ride like no other!

With a free update, your copy of WipEout Omega Collection is now playable in VR. Simply update your game, switch on your headset and your main menu will transform into a 3D world with ships zooming right past you.

You can select any game mode, be it Racebox or Campaign, and play the full game in VR from start to finish.

We’ve added three new VR exclusive ships for those with headsets for HD, Fury and 2048 classes. Look in amazement as you are placed into a cockpit and can zip around your favourite tracks from a brand new perspective.

Not only that but you can also enjoy the games soundscape in full 3D audio making this the most immersive way to play WipEout. The update will also feature the new remix of Shake It by competition winner Vieille Griffe.

For those of you who haven’t yet picked up WipEout now is the perfect time, with a brand new demo version coming soon, so you can fly before you buy! We love to treat you guys.

Just played a race pretty cool. Going for a lie down now though....
Get ready to vomit
This has to be the worst idea ever. Im surprised it doesnt come bundled with a bottle of Sambuca just to top things off for the poor shmucks who play this.

I have this game, I love this game, but as someone who suffers from motion sickness if I play stuff like this for too long, the idea of combining the intense speed of WipEout with VR that puts you IN the ship's cockpit - I don't think I'd manage it very well without crippling nausea.

Sounds like Sony are knocking £100 off psvr bundle as well.

Same!!
Oh my. That's my evening sorted.
I hope I can handle this. I have an odd relationship with VR. Five minutes in DriveClub VR and I need to have a lie down, and RIGS puts me out of action for at least an hour, but I get absolutely no ill effects playing something like Eve, even doing barrel rolls and the like. It seems to be completely random whether a VR game messes me up or not.

I really hope WipEout is one of those games I can get on with. It's been one of my favourite series since the first game so VR mode is an absolute dream come true.
Looking forward to playing this in VR - just wish there was a way to use my Oculus Rift with the PS4 as I'm not sure I can justify two VR headsets. Or can I?
Just been playing it. Very very nice. I was expecting it to be blurry but nope, not even on my OG PS4. A bit of disorientation at first but then felt great, no nausea, and that was with all the comfort settings switched off
Weeeeeeeee!!!
I will buy this when its next half price or less

Ah it will be fine. I got a WMR for my PC after having PSVR since launch.. you know, access to wider library of titles is always welcome.

I have access to both headsets and nah, this isn't possible and likely never well be. I think Oculus is currently in the best place right now as there's only a few really fantastic PSVR exclusives - enough to give the system value if you don't have a VR ready PC, but not enough to get both.

The new price drop and the popularity of the system could really turn things around as VR support ramps up over the next couple of years though. Wouldn't be surprised to see a second iteration with a higher res screen and new motion controllers announced along with the PS5 next year (probably E3 2019) so worth holding on till then.
Currys £13.49 , Argos £13.99 Seems a decent price to get the Wipeout Omega Collection at to try this out in VR
Given the amount of people that say motion sickness affects their use of VR will it ever take off? I've never tried it but kind of glad I didn't spend that kind of money on l unusable tech

I'd hardly call it unusable. It's different depending on the person and game. Some people don't get it and for those who do, they'll adapt to it after a little while. They just need to take it slowly.

Wouldn't say VR is unusable but it's quite tiring. I'm happy to chill out in Hyrule after a few beers but I wouldn't dare drive (VR) intoxicated.

I don't suffer from motion sickness and use my VR all the time so great value for money. Even more so that I hear there is a free Wipeout update for VR.

Don't talk about Granger.. it's too upsetting knowing they are closing branches down.
Oh well, time to buy the VR kit then. Damn you Buzz !!

"One word of warning though: this is extreme stuff with fast motion that may cause issues for many users. You'll need definitely need your VR legs to deal with this experience. Personally, I played the game three races at a time before taking a break in order to make the intense experience a bit more manageable"

My first race and I had to whip the visor off in the first 10 seconds. One I got used to it or was great in the normal settings. Far better than I thought it would be, visuals ain't bad at all and plays superbly. Very very impressed.

I feel bad for the poor smuchks who have never tried this and comment like you do. Your missing out on something quite incredible
I've just had a few quick races and am liking it a lot. Fortunately no ill feelings at all and it looks great (crisp and smooth). I've never played any Wipeout before and, despite having picked this up a while back, have been waiting for the VR patch to drop before starting it. Very nice.

Now I just need to try and find time for it, what with Skyrim VR and all....

Wasn't motion sickness for me although I got it a bit. My issue is the wires and motion detection. Just ain't good enough yet

I'm a Wipeout addict, always have been, i must play the game every single way you can. It's that simple.
This update is really good. Especially since it's free for PSVR owners. Anyone else think it would be better if the arms in the cockpit moved as you press the dualshock? Would add a bit more realism imo. Just an observation

Looking at reviews today it seems they have done a great job at providing plenty of options to cut down on motion sickness.
Had motion sickness at first when purchased vr but got used to it no longer suffer motion sickness looking forward to playing wipeout
