Code Veronica in 2021 hopefully.
This is meant to be announced on the 10th. Seems there’s gonna be a blood shed for taking preorders by the retailers. They were not supposed to go live until it’s announced. Heat meanwhile.
Why make new games when you can remake the old... like the movie industry right now.
Looks like my GOTY will be a Resident Evil game 2 years in a row then!

So pumped for this. Nemesis was always my favourite of the original PS1 trilogy. So glad that Resi 2 Remake did well enough to make this a reality. That said, the 3 remake was apparently in development before 2 came out, so they must have at least anticipated that they would be popular.

Please tell me that is coming to PC too! This is the one RE I’ve been waiting for!

If Alien Isolation is any indicator, the PC version will come out years before the Switch version.
This hasn’t even been officially announced yet hope the date is right!

It's all about saving up for that moment when pre-orders go live for the upcoming PS5...

Day One!

Never done a Day One before... PS5 will be a first!

Same month as Final Fantasy 7.

2 month head-start on The Last Of Us 2...

Something's going to give.

I would be extremely surprised if the date is right. It seems to be the last day of Q1 2020, placeholder most likely.
Woah, just noticed the purported release date in the listing! If that's correct and not just a placeholder date, then I'm extra excited++.

It's really not the same at all as the movie industry in this case. The games are completely different to the originals other than the base plot.

So like the movie industry then with their remakes/reboots? Total Recall anyone? Ghostbusters? Transformers? Aladdin? The Lion King? Jungle Book? Dumbo? Child’s Play? True Grit? Scarface? The Italian Job?

It’s exactly like the movie industry. Doesn’t make these games bad or anything (Resi 2 is amazing) but they are copying the film industry.

Yep. You won’t see me say otherwise (despite liking the Switch and Nintendo games) because they are fundamentally the same. Most games are these days. I just don’t think remakes are a bad thing unless they are just bad games/movies when it happens. It’s a lazy way to attack something.

My point is that there is much more to a game than the story. The gameplay is completely different. It doesn't feel like the original RE2 at all. And of course, unlike most movie remakes, the old games are very outdated by modern standards, or even not available on modern platforms.

With that in mind, it makes sense to give a breath of fresh air to those classic games. On the other hand, Hollywood just takes an old perfectly good and watchable movie and butchers it or remakes it unnecessarily.

Of course in the end it's all about money, and nostalgia and a degree of creative bankruptcy, but I see more value in the game remakes.

I liked the Total Recall "remake"... That was not lazy film-making.

I genuinely did like it. It went in an entirely new direction to what the Arnold movie went in.

Shame the film-makers had to plaster the "Total Recall" name on the movie, although there were some parts that obviously did tie in with the original's central premise.

Total Recall was a great film.

I don't think they are any more rehashed than the rest of the gaming industry.
I bought RE3 on Dreamcast and Gamecube. Never played either of them to my great shame.
Will wait to play it before buying, avoided buying the disappointing res 2 remake maybe this will be better and if not doesnt matter as the original is good.

And movies are remade with better special effects. Sometimes they have better pacing. Better actors/actresses. Improvements can be made across both mediums with remakes. I just don’t hold games to a higher standard than films I guess.

I’ve not seen it to be honest so can’t comment on it. The single worst remake/reboot/reimagining or whatever (that I’ve personally seen) has to be Ghostbusters though. Nothing to do with the cast being women or anything, it was just a usual Paul Fieg film with a lick of Ghostbusters paint on it. It felt like someone was making a Ghostbusters parody film.
I wish they'd remade RE1 first, to get them all playable in modern graphics/controls. I know there's already a remake (got it on ps+) but it's in the 'old style' which is awful imo - I don't believe in making people handle like trucks for the sake of tension.

Usually not into horror games at all really, as I think a lot of them lack substance once you're used to the tension or completed them once. But the re2 remake was great, and that's without playing the original so no nostalgia.

Dunno if I should preorder or wait til it comes down a bit, re2 seemed to come down relatively quickly?

It wasn't for the sake of tension, they had to cater for the D-Pad on PS1 and Saturn.

RE2 took an age to come down in price. It cost more than £30 for a pretty long time...

If you really want to play RE3, I'd suggest buying it sooner rater than later.

It's not too late. If you have a PS3 or Vita, you can play it as a PS Classic. I think it's £7.99 on PSN, which is a bit pricey, but it's a wonderful game.

Tank controls make sense for fixed camera angles since up is always forward regardless of the camera angle. Playing re1 remake with 'new style' controls is horrible. Personally prefer the classic style of resi games but I thought resi 2 remake was a great game.

You're right, but I was aiming it at the remake. I'm probably being harsh as the remake itself is quite old now as well, which is why I reckon capcom should've done 1 first. Nothing stopping them going back and doing it if they wanted (I hope).
Wake me up when it drops below £15

Resi 4 = guaranteed remake in the next few years.
Dino Crisis = probably not, but we can hope.
Onimusha = very unlikely, we already had a fairly pedestrian remaster earlier this year (as much as I still loved playing it through multiple times) and it was always more of a niche Capcom title. Though it's one of my favourite series ever so I'd be the first in line!

Damn, Capcom have really knocked it out of the park this year. Monster Hunter World, Resi 2, DMC 5.

I played the REmake recently and I thought it still plays very well, there's a new control scheme that doesn't use the old tank controls. There's a rumour that it's the next in line to be remade (again), though, and I would welcome that, I love that game, so I would enjoy playing it again from a different angle (literally).

Only thing is those special effects don't always enhance the experience. They sometimes are forced in as extra eye-candy and detract from the movie. Back in the day, special FX were used much less, partially because they were not as convincing as well, but that made for a more down to earth movie. Moreover, there's just much more that usually makes the originals better than the remakes, such as acting and/or just "getting it" i.e. what the movie is about, and small nuances that remakes cannot recapture. Games are entirely "special FX" so that doesn't quite hold water as an argument there. That said, there are certain games that I think look better than their remakes despite being old. Just nostalgia and oldschool charm.

Hope they don't make nemesis act the way that the tyrant did in 2
