In 1997, Gran Turismo (GT) introduced to the world the ability to realistically recreate automobiles in 3D CG and allow gamers to virtually experience them on their home consoles. Since then, the GT series has recorded a total of 76.74 million copies (*), breaking records and winning awards on the way. On 18 November, the makers of GT will take the title to the next level with the release of Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation®4 system, where it will promote the rebirth of motorsports with its partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)

Ordered the steelbook version yesterday and this dropped through the letter box today. Not happy. Never had any problems before with simply games, I’m sure they will sort it out. Possibly end in a refund though as steelbook version oos now

Did Simply Games have the steelbook edition? I thought it was exclusive to Amazon. Are you sure you're not referring to the Limited Edition?

Nevermind, I've just spotted it on their site. That's an Amazon exclusive item. Strange

Seriously cut down game. Will suffer the same fate as Driveclub.

Surprised that Sony didn't learn from that, and just FINISH this game before releasing it. Rather than finishing it later via free DLC.

Like Driveclub, I will buy it when finished, and cheaper.

What do you mean by this, what fate did Driveclub have? Surely not that Sony will shut down Polyphony, right?

Try it before you make too many judgements. The game is fantastic. By far the best multi-player I've experienced. I have driveclub and prj cars but GT sport has nailed it for me.

Still on the fence. What makes the multiplayer so good?

Just a few days with the beta/demo and It surprised me how good the graphics even on a standard Ps4 and using the G29 felt fantastic and very good with controller.

As mentioned seriously lacking in content tracks/cars,will see how this pans out for a few months ie plenty of free updates.

but if they stat charging for every single track/car its a definite no...

The main reason I have found gt sport good is that it encourages all racers pro and casual, to race sensible. You do start of at low rank but once you get past the bumper car races by going up in skill level you get to have some good races. I am happy with the game its a different approach but the always online does worry me, makes the game have a lifespan. The game will be un playable in X amount of years time when servers are shut down all you will have is arcade to race on.

"on the fence" in terms of you haven't played it?

or "on the fence" in terms of you have played it and don't get why people say its good?

if its the former, then play it.

if its the later, then you probably have to go back and play it some more and then make your own mind up. At the end of the day, what could someone say that would change your mind?

There is a sizeable single player actually. Probably 40-50 hours worth of play.

You do need to be online to access it though. No PS Plus required for single player.

I havent bought a racing game yet this year and am finding it tough choosing between F1 2017 (a friend has it and says the upgrade paths etc are great), Project Cars 2 or this. Anyone got any wise words of wisdom?

Apologies for the ambiguity, it's due to the fact that I haven't played it beyond a few races on the Beta. The thing I liked about previous iterations was the RPG-esque career mode and as far as I can tell that's entirely online on this one. My issue is that I'm just not very good at racers but I think you're right, I think I'll just pick it up, embrace online and then if it's not for me it's not for me.

As others have said they've got the balance of penalties just right to encourage clean racing. You get significant time penalties for going off or being involved in a shunt. Rubbing is OK but if someone tries to use you as their break they just turn into a ghost and sail off the track so it doesn't ruin your race. At the end of the race time penalties are added on changing the result if someone progressed unfairly. You can only progress in the game (driver rating) if you have majority clean laps (Sportsmanship rating)

Don't like the game at all, all online rubbish

Thanks for the info, think I'll order it tomorrow and see how it goes.

To me they are all unique in their own way. With F1 you get one style of car but you get a great career and progress path. On GT sport you get a few different styles of races plus a multiplayer progress system so if you like racing properly you'll be online against those people and then there's project cars 2 which is full of different track conditions to to test your ability. Of course there is Forza motorsport 7 but that's not on PlayStation

But these are facts. It has a tiny fraction of the cars of its predecessor and Forza. Same with number of tracks. And I have no interest in multiplayer. It should have had the OFFLINE single player of its predecessors.

Annoyed that my beta demo progress didn't port over to the full game. Anybody find a way of having it transferred successfully? I received the prompt and clicked yes but it still didn't port over!

really as everyplace seems to be saying seriously lacks single player content and if you have no love for multiplayer, you will be very disappointed, also it lacks cars and tracks compared to forza and even the older GT games.

heat for deal but will wait till they do a driveclub for this and release some free content

While it was a smaller release to tide fans over. That aspect was always communicated clearly and straight away at reveal as a replacement for a typical and smaller ‘prologue’ and for some experimentation such as Sport mode or a renewed focus on professional racing that a numbered GT may not allow due to expectations.

They are slow developers but that is one of the series unique points.

prior to the demo people thought single player was going to be even smaller! So I don’t buy trolls and bots repeating ‘there is no single player at all I am shocked!’ Posts.

And many of us won't buy the game.

Fair enough to release a prologue version, but ONLY if at a LOWER price. This is a full price game .

Ordered last weekend, got an email to say it's shipped, still nothing received......

Let’s not move goalposts. Even with big GT’s people trolled constantly without backing themselves up.

Numbered GT games are hardly normal sized games. I would agree with the lower price to an extent(skip or price cuts are options too) but it’s still larger than many games and very replayable for racing audiences. Single player even gives a real life benefit here.

Going to be interesting to see if people follow this thinking through with other games such as Battlefront 2, Overwatch, NFS etc. Not to mention ignore tons of paid dlc with actual short/ non existentsingle player games etc.

Maybe the 30%drop in sales will get GT pm Yamauchi the sack. Now basically an online racer from a team or artists not gamers. Like all GT games the cars are beautiful but after years in development it's half a game and still feels unfinished. What a waste

WTH does Battlefront 2 have in common with Overwatch? You really just want to argue for no reason.

Battlefront 2 has lots of content, but an appalling loot crate system (so I am not buying that either).

Overwatch has lots of content and great free content support, with ONLY cosmetic loot crates. A great model for a game IMO.

As I said Gran Turismo is a travesty. Unfinished, yet full price. I have bought almost all previous games, but will not buy this one until it hits the bargain bins.
