I spent 3 years playing D1, I stopped playing D2 after 3 weeks. Make of that what you will!

This any good? Seems to dropping in price quite rapidly...

It's well made technically. It's just poorly 'designed' and there's just not enough of it. The fact that DLC drops in December (and people were out of things to do about two weeks ago) shows the heavy price gamers seem to pay for early adoption and the DLC-fest that most new games are.

I dunno. I enjoyed it well enough (with friends) but I definitely wouldn't have 'missed out' if I didn't play it. It's more 'something to do' than 'a great game experience'. If you want single-player stuff--you might as well wait for a 'GOTY' edition with everything in. According to D1 players (which I wasn't) it's very barebones. And I can see why they'd think that.

I thought it had flattened out at this level for a while tbh, obvs not paying attention! I'd like to get onboard soon but hanging on for a ps4 deal first. Used price on you know where is about £24 so might as well buy new.

The problem with a GOTY edition is that the main user base will have played out everything you want to do so you'll have to buddy up with strangers for raids...
This leaves you with people on too low a level, people with bad headsets, people who are too loud / quiet, people who think their background music is desired by everyone, people who won't listen to instructions / planning, people who have constant interruptions, abusive people, trolls, etc...
Raids require a LOT of coordination with everyone on their game, no dead weight and no loose cannons - I've tried to play with strangers and I think I discovered a new level of hell!

Thanks everyone. Was considering this for my son for Xmas as a replacement for Overwatch. Will continue looking...

If you have any interest in getting the game buy it now. There is no point in waiting to buy it as those willing to do activicties will be reduced. I never got into Destiny 1 but really enjoying Destiny 2. Buy this instead of Overwatch and get your son to play Paladins it does everything well enough to be an alternative to Overwatch.

You eventually got a girlfriend after 3years and 3 weeks of trying?

This game is a passble fun fps that is light on content and should be picked up at around £20 imo. I have played every week since launch with friends and had 3 max level characters by the end of October, this was just doing the weekly activities and only grinding when Iron Banner was on (special pvp event). The problem with Destiny and many other games is the rng element which has been tweaked for the worse in D2, back in D1 every gun you aquired had a selection of random perks from a set pool which led to players myself included going for 'god roll' weapons that were the best they could possibly be. In D2 they have taken this away so every weapon/armour you get will be the same weapon/armour no matter how many times you aquire it, some like this others hate it but Bungie said mods would fix this system which in short don't. This game should have released with no year 1 season pass and given away the first two packs due in December and Spring as updates rather than charge £30. Sorry for the rant but if we are to pay full price at launch and give the developers/publishers ect the maximum amount of money for these products then we should be respected and not fleeced for another few quid for these miniscule expansions.

I smashed over 1100hrs into the first one but have stopped playing d2, sure its pretty but there just seems like theres nothing to do. Everything has been dumbed down for the casual player.

If he doesn't want Overwatch then fair enough but I couldn't recommend it more. All future content like maps and heroes will be free so no further investment needed unless he wants character skins in game which can be earned anyway. If he did get Destiny for christmas then he would already be behind because of the ludicrous dlc plan that game has. This is a long shot but an amazing fps game with tons of depth is Rainbow Six Siege which will be 2 years old in December but still going strong, again all the operators can be earned with in game currency with the option of buying the season pass to unlock the dlc operators. You pick a unique operator every round who all have useful skills for achieving your objective

I will climb on at some point but its early days for destiny 2, not really surprised at the lack of content hate. I came in late(ish) on the ps3 when there was lots do so it may feel a bit half game atm.

Thanks- my hubby loves D1 and plays it all the time, was going to buy him D2 but won't bother if it's a let down after the first!

The campaign is better than the first (not hard) there's at least some sort of story this time.

I agree with other comments its definitely better to run with friends etc. the main issue with this is they removed any end game the raid is one of the worst ones to date & PVP 4v4 isn't very casual anymore I preferred 6V6 the new PVP seems aimed at more competitive side with no competitive ranking system or that. Also there's no more weapon rolls and exotics drop like crazy so they took away the need to grind for stuff unlike destiny 1 .

I bungie are trying to right their mistakes but only time will tell. I'm a alpha d1 player and having done every activity in both d1 and d2 also having three level 305 alts within two weeks. You lose interest quickly as mentioned it doesn't have the same feel as d1 which caused people to keep wanting to go back.

Thanks for the info. He's played Overwatch to death but got bored of it. He really liked the fact that it wasn't gritty and based on war etc..

Agree with this completely apart from the casual gamer bit. I probably play once every 1 or 2 weeks with a mate of mine, and we're already groaning and bored! It's a bloody shame, as we always felt d1 had tons and tons, took a while for the groans to kick in ha.

There are a few free to play options that aren't gritty like Paladins or even Fortnite Battle Royale but as for big AAA games I'm stumped. Maybe Star Wars Battlefront 2 as that looks visually stunning and isn't too gloomy.

I still haven't been able to do a raid on this. I play with a friend so there is only 2 of us, 6 are needed. If I try the guided raid it's a 45 minute queue which I'm not really prepared to sit through. Why not make it easier to buddy up with randoms? I had no issue doing this in the division (and other games)

Servers are pretty garbage too, but I still go back everyday.

Dumbed down! :0 I thought D1 was one of the dumbest games I've ever played..

seems a lot of differing opinions, I thought 1 was great , I think 2 is better .

Love the game. Well worth the money, cracking FPS where you can play alone or multiplayer. Short fun Campaign after which the game really opens up. Of course its going to get repetitive after a while all games will unless your paying monthly. Im really looking forward to the new expansion curse of Osiris in December.

Well worth the money

I spent three years playing Destiny and haven't even bought Destiny 2.

The game is super casual now. Albeit I did love the constant grind of D1 to get unique items all the time!
Fortunately for me, casual grind is perfect for me at the moment so having reduced time on D2 yet I’ve acquired almost everything.

Have put the game down now most of the week and just waiting on the dlc. Unless people need help on nightfalls so I jump on then as that’s as challenging as it gets for now!

Love D1 with friends but wasn't obviously built for single player and I refuse to buy DLC so Bungie aren't aiming this at me.

I'm thinking sub £15, still so many other things to play but good deal for current time.

Agree 100%

The game is dying! Even using lfg I am now struggling to find raid teams on reset day! Such a shame.. D1 was amazing.. They really dropped the ball with D2

You were given an ultimatum?

I was one of the idiots who actually paid £90 for Destiny 2 Delux Edition, and the campaign lasted less than 10 hours...Its completely broken and we have our first expansion on the 5th December ( THE 5th of DECEMBER ) That only 3 months into a new game ( ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING FROM bungie ) I'll never buy another bungie game again...

Gone back u

Maybe try Assassins Creed: Origins

Other alternatives: LA Noire, Star Wars Battlefront 2 or Horizon Zero Dawn (ps4)
