£5 Xbox Gift Card for 5,500 pts (auto redeem) via Microsoft Rewards
Posted 16th Sep 2020
It looks like they won't be doing it for 5,050 anymore so this looks like the next best option. £5 for 5,500 at the start of every month.

It doesn't mention Microsoft gift cards though.

Keep in mind gift cards have a 90 day expiry date.

Done on the Xbox rewards app.

Saves 300 points but means you've got to use gift cards within 90 days versus just redeeming the points as and when you need them. Isn't a good deal imo.

Gutted! Saved up 80,000 since March, may as well set-up this auto-redeem then to make the most of them.

Same, have 63000 saved up for Cyberpunk
I didn't realise about the 90 days expiry so just wasted £25 on some battery chargers.....was going to put towards preorder for the Series S
I wonder when MS Rewards will have a Game Pass/Gold offer again.
Edit. Didnt read the wording in the screeshot. :P

By setting up auto redeem, you will receive the best price available for Xbox Gift Cards. Microsoft Rewards will no longer discount Xbox Gift Cards with 'Hot Deals'.

Indeed it does. The Redeem section in the Rewards app expressly says in the notes underneath that they won't be reduced again going forwards.

haha oops didn't read the screenshot.

I guess this is better than what I was going to get for my 200k points. 90 day limits suck though.
I’m fairly new to rewards. I was cashing in for a fiver every time I had enough, not realising there was an expiry date on those fivers.

Good point so effectively you can get £15 before you need to spend some

Yeah. 90 day limit is a bit annoying to say the least. I suppose this is a half-assed attempt at saving some money before loads of people redeem saved up points to use against Series S/X orders via MS store.

Yeah pretty much, I initially looked at it but then cancelled the auto renew once I saw the 90 day limit
I had points expiring on the 14th. Live Chat said if contacted then after 14th then they would re-credit the expired account.

But I preordered Cyberpunk instead.
Been at this like a madman all year as I've not gone away anywhere.
So almost 90,000 Ish points since Feb built up.
Worth noting that if you activate this - on the 1st of each month it will automatically take the points if you have the required amount and convert them to £5 credit on your account which then has a 90 day lifespan. Historically people would stack points to be able to purchase games / controllers / hardware etc so this auto redeem will make that way more difficult to do.

You’re not alone! I think there’s a lot of us who were hoping the 5,050 deal might come back in the next couple of months for Cyberpunk. It’s not the end of the world at 5,850 for £5 and there’s still time to build that points balance.
I don't understand why you wouldn't just wait until you have enough points for the thing you want? Are these gift cards only available at certain times?

For discounts on the gift cards.
Important question though......when pre-ordered go live are you going for a series S or X?

If you active this atleast you're getting £10 for 11000 then you can convert the rest.

Slight saving
Does anyone know if you can preorder the Xbox series x through Microsoft (and use points to help) or does it have to be through a reseller such as Game/Smyths

X.

Got a One X already so want a proper upgrade

You can, there's already pages on the store but they're not available to pre-order yet

Im in the same boat, but being able to buy the new 'S' for not much more than I can sell my current One X is very tempting.

No disc drive and smaller storage kill it for me.
From what I've read the storage difference isn't as big as it seems, as Series S enhanced games will be smaller than Series X enhanced due to 4k.

Agree about the disc drive though.

I play in 4k.

Series S only upscales I believe?

Probably better for a monitor player.
Yes, so basically the same as PS4 Pro in that sense.

Just wish there was a way to still do backward compatibility without the disc drive.

Would need to switch to a full digital library

Suppose that is where things are heading anyway. Game Pass Ultimate softens the blow.
Been cashing in my 206k worth over the last week in preparation for the 22nt, cheeky discount for me on the Series X 👌
I’m confused. Why would you do this? I have near 100,000 points. Why not wait until you have X amount for the item you want. It might not be discounted by a few hundred; but you don’t run the risk of wasting points? - Or am I missing something. I’ll preorder series X from amazon, so will just redeem against games / accessori

If you know what you want to preorder you can get a discount on the points.

You can also cancel at any time so won't be wasting anything.

My 206k will take quite a bit off the X, so I'm pretty happy to redeem at the £25 gift card manually rather than the £5 auto.

And i thought i was hardcore with my 123k points

Looking forward to finally pre ordering that blinkin box

Anyone have any idea what time exactly the pre orders go live on the 22nd? GAME sent me an email stating they will start at 8am.
It only says Xbox Gift Cards. Microsoft Gift Cards might still be in hot deals? These work on Xbox too.

Your both out doing my at 84k on a 94 day streak. Now do I go for discount on the new console.... or save it for a game in the future.
So if you have a bunch saved up and set auto renewal would you have to wait for the new month for the points to convert and would it do all of them or just a £5 each month? I'm planning to use mine for the Series X pre order.
