this looks rubbish lol.

this looks rubbish lol.

Whats that based on then?? Im not saying this may not have issues but have you seen the Tech sony have stuck under the hood for the price??

Ah yes, the most powerful handheld by some margin, with a 5 inch oled screen and an awesome line up of games in development, looks rubbish.

Troll, fanboy or both?

Im having the 3g one when that bad boy comes. Got trade card ready for Gamestation! Can't wait to rip call of duty to bits on it! Wireless online gaming!! Whoop whoop!

what format are the games coming in? surely not UMD things again.

or is it just downloaded stuff via a PS Store?

Thanks just pre-ordered, wouldn't accept my Mastercard for some reason but Visa debit went through fine. Best pre-order price so far..

Bespoke "NVG Cards" (flash memory cards) will be used; like Nintendo DS cartridges.

There will be space to save game data alongside the games on the cards (that will be available to purchase from typical video game retail outlets).
Downloading of titles from what will be the equivalent of PlayStation Store by the time of release of the hardware will also be possible.

If Battlefield 3 comes out on this, then I'm totally sold. Back on the deal however, I'll wait it out a little for the kinks, bugs and first reviews are sorted, but good price otherwise.

If you are a GAME Reward Card customer, the basic (Wi-Fi only) model is priced at GAME.co.uk at the expected Recommended Retail Price (£229.99), but you will receive the equivalent of £11.50 in Reward Card Points (4,600 points). Net payment £218.49.

Quidco cashback of 1.5% (for hardware) is also available.

I pre-ordered the 3G model at £279.99 offering 5,600 Reward Card Points (= £14.00) as this was the best price available at the time (7 June 2011).

I wonder if Sony is baulking at the 3DS sales (or lack thereof) and the unbelievable price drop coming from ninty in a few days?

Also, the Vita is NOT packing the original specs, according to the reports on various game sites it has been "slimmed" oO I know they have reduced the memory for one, other reports say a slower processor, cheaper screen tech etc etc. It certainly wont be the same one I had a play with a few months back that's for sure!

Good price and voted hot BUT, Sony really have to address the 3DS price drop or they will suffer the same poor sales!

The specification of the prototype machines has been fixed for some time; certainly below the official announcement of the handheld console.

As seen in the deal listing I created yesterday, the Nintendo 3DS suffers from a lack of interest (at any price):

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nintendo-3ds-aqua-blue-cosmos-black-169-00-amazon-uk/985579

That demonstrates there is no need to compete on price.

I only read they'd reduced the RAM, but developers were saying it will have very little effect due to the architecture of the console.

I managed to preorder the 3G version at GAME for £229.99 when they first listed it as they mixed the prices up!

I can't check the site until tonight because my work uses crappy IE6 so the site keeps crashing on me.

The release date hasn't been confirmed yet.

They're selling the 3G model for £244.97 as well.

We shall see IF the interest is there for this handheld console either

IF the Wii is any measure of Ninty's prior experience, the price drop for the 3DS should see sales rocket as it now falls into the optimum price range for a handheld!

The PSP sales suffered, as did the PS3, with Sony holding the price at a premium and ONLY after multiple price cuts did they start to see an increase in uptake. In fact the PSP is having a resurgence in popularity which happens to coincide with it being cheaper to buy!

But this is all off-topic and mostly speculation so as I said, we'll just have to wait and see

The price is not so bad when compared to the original PSP's (UK) Recommended Retail Price of £179.99 (on 1 September 2005).

Any chance of OP adding they charge on order to title as many will not read the specifics. Thanks

Decent price but

Gamestop will charge you when you order, not on despatch

is mental for something that 1) Is several hundred quid and 2) may not be out until 2012

Still a hot deal for me, regardless of the payment taken on order. It's worth it to save £20 on the already reasonable Game pre-order price, but I understand how it might put others off.

Tis worth keeping an eye on Grainger Games now, cos they gaurentee that they will beat any other high street retailer. While these aren' high street, you never know.

I'm sure a lot more people think it's better for a store to take your money on dispatch than taking it x months in advance. I think preordering it from game.co.uk is better value if you have a membership card from them. You get £11.50 worth of points which in total should be close to how much it cost in gamestop including delivery. You can use those points to buy future PSP Vita game or other console games.

Sony were making a massive loss on every PS3 they sold up until about 2008.

CFW for the win lol. I imagine it'll be borderline impossible with this though.

Surprised by the price, it's pretty reasonable, assumed it'd cost more. I can't see the point of 3G though but that's just me.

I want this but there's no way I'm pre-ordering.
