Amazon.co.uk Review
For all the slasher pictures that have ripped off Psycho (and particularly its classic set piece, the "shower scene"), nothing has ever matched the impact of the real thing. More than just a first-rate shocker full of thrills and suspense, Psycho is also an engrossing character study in which director Alfred Hitchcock skilfully seduces you into identifying with the main characters--then pulls the rug (or the bathmat) out from under you. Anthony Perkins is unforgettable as Norman Bates, the mama's boy proprietor of the Bates Motel; and so is Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, who makes an impulsive decision and becomes a fugitive from the law, hiding out at Norman's roadside inn for one fateful night. --Jim Emerson

Excellent price, been waiting for this to drop a bit

Was on ITV1-HD recently (at around 1am for some reason!) - made me think how novel & scary it must have been on first viewing 50 years back, and how shocked I was as late teen seeing it!

Also been waiting for this to come down in price.

Wi! Wi! Wi!
(Thats my knife stabby noise)

I heard that to get the photo on the cover, they showed her a pic of Ian Dowie

Great film and a great price for the anniversary edition. I first saw it a few years ago thinking it couldn't possibly have stood the test of time....how wrong I was.

This was a coming of age for contemporary US cinema - and made by a British director on the cheap at the height of his creativity. Hard to imagine a Hollywood release before Psycho that had a straightforward (all be it low key) heist storyline suddenly be engulfed by the schlok-free) yet genuinely horrorifying murderours attack. An age of innocence seemed to end. Cliche plots around money or people out for revenge looked a bit tame and dated after this. A genre-smashing masterpiece.

Anybody who has any interest in films should pick this up IMMEDIATELY!!! The steelbook is nice, but the video and new 5.1 audio presentation are stunning! If only this level of care and attention was brought to all classic on Blu Ray...

Ordered - thanks
