Showing as £1.99 online, good price though although maybe just your store

£1 at asda

i got these for £1.99 only yesterday, im peeved grrrr

have some heat though

Good deal if they're English strawberries. Not if they're those dreadful tasteless Dutch ones that Sainsbury's get in when they drop their prices. :x

Are these 'end of day' reductions?

Checked my local Tesco in Evesham and prices were £1.99 a punnet for English (Derby) Strawbs

400g of Elsanta strawberries from Kent were £1.19, when I walked past my Tesco Metro store this morning.

The weren't bad, but smelled a lot better than they tasted.

I'm pretty sure they arent end of day reductions as all of them were all the same price. there were loads of them

I was just at Tesco 2nite (6.30pm) and bought strawberries amongst other things but these were £1.99

£1.99 in tesco Perth today. But they tasted like nothing. Very disappointing.

£1.99 in tesco metro in leamington spa- were ok and nutritious but didnt taste very flavoursome

Elsanta are the strawberries to avoid, wherever they are made/grown. The variety is designed to be large and colourful, have a good shelf life, resist bruising and, to me, they are totally tasteless.

If you've been around for more than a couple of decades, you will remember what real English strawberries used to taste like, before the big supermarkets started manipulating the market, and that they were available in time for Wimbledon and not all year round. :whistling:[/SIZE]

In our local Sainsurys, it was going for 79p. reduceds from £1.99

99p in the Redditch stores.

M&S are selling Irish strawberries for £1 per box. Got some last night. Yummy

My local market stall sells two punnets of 500g for a pound (Spanish origin) so why buy at Tesco?? Rip-off as many veggies are way overpriced in all supermarkets...

Banned

No decent local markets near me - but if there were - I'd be a regular!

Sounds like it was discounted to 99p because it was near the sell by date.

The ones i bought from Tesco Hampton Peterborough last night were delicious. The smell on the way home made it impossible for the whole punnet to make it home.

Don't buy them! They've been reared indoors in terrible crowded conditions, never saw daylight, fed on rubbish and had a miserable life.

I also got some from hampton, peterborough and I can confirm they were only 99p as they went out of date on the 8th of june.

They were everywhere though and they will have alot of waste I assume....

A £1 in Asda and they are british strawberries, really nice and juicy! :-D

Thanks boyney123 for the confirmation. Not really a deal then if they are out of date

Doubt it..should be more like 50p for an end of day reduction

I love these "deals," it confirms everything I had ever suspected about marketing, and the people who don't have a clue about what they buy that are targeted by the marketers!

So to sum up, it's a 99p "punnet" of indeterminate size/weight, containing an indeterminate variety of strawberries, being sold from ONE store in Peterborough, having an indeterminate length of shelf life left, and it has been voted as hot as hell! Still got a long way to go to beat the single Kg of grapes sold from one Sainsbury's store that hit about 700 degrees, but it's on it's way! :-(

really nice and juicy! :-D

So are the potatoes, and about as much flavour too :-(

Lucky you, you can buy crap cheaper and it's handy too! :-(

I am afraid they don't know, I have posted MANY times, they don't know what I am talking about, and I think people think strawberries have always tasted like Golden delicious apples crossed with King Edwards potatoes :-(

Amen to that. They are designed to look nice on the shelf and have a long shelf life, which is why supermarkets like them. They also taste of absolutely nothing. Shame that 95% of the varieties you get in supermarkets are Elsanta.

Well the ones in M&S were not at sell by date and had a great flavour........for 99p

I thought it was just me but most shop flowers don't have any scent anymore. Tomatoes, strawbs and a lot of other F&Veg just don't have as much flavour as they used to. Even when I tried organic, not much difference

£1.98 in Tesco today - claimed 'half price'.
