Pure Contour 200i Air Ipod Dock - Tesco, Great Yarmouth - 1p!!!

Found 29th Jan 2014
Just got back from Tesco, Great Yarmouth, after having one of my better shopping trips!!
I just bought a Pure Contour 200i Air Ipod Dock, which was in the clearance section without a price. I scanned it with the hand scanner & it came up 1p!!
There was only 1 in Great Yarmouth, but may be worth checking, if they are in stores near you!!!

I also got a Belkin Play N450 DB router/modem for 1p!!
And to top it all off, I found Family Guy The Best Of (DVD) marked up at £5, but scanned at £12.
So £14 back thanks to Tesco's Double the difference policy!

So for the 3 items purchased, Tesco paid me £1.98 to take them away!!!

Good find
You have had a good shopping trip!

So they charged you £7 extra for family guy...lol.....

I love how you were cheeky enough to still get DTD. Do they still do DTD if you use the hand scanners?

Banned

no. I think you get double the difference if they over charge so a refund of £14

You should've stood your ground!!
I was in a heated discussion with the manageress for about 20mins, at the end of the day, if they are on the shop floor, they are for sale!!

I had various staff all staring at me, inc. 2 security guards! i had prescanned the item from another member of staffs scanner, he clearly had told someone and word must of got round! now felt like i was doing something wrong, i wanted to leave, i didnt fancy a big argumentt. And clearly they werent going to have any of it!

Don't carry a basket full of the goods posted on here
It's somthing that doesn't happen everyday and you will get some looks coz people want to know what the bargains are :-)

Staff have been told that 1p things shouldn't be sold, many try but only a few complete the task :-)

Well instead of tesco Ho listing them at 1p they should either delist them or put them on £999 that'd stop us lot doing it. Tesco are morons though

Hmm just spoke to tesco who say it could of been a faulty item, so they dont have to sell it and lots of other crap.
Ok folks, its a braun 380-4 shaver. I have one its not faulty. Its discontinued.
How come on their facebook page they say, they normally sell these items as they are to clear.

Their facebook page states the items are reduced to 1p to clear the items,

"There are rare occasions when discontinued products go beyond the "reduced to clear" period, and the value will be reduced to a penny on our tills. We look to remove these items from sale although if you find yourself at the checkout with one of these products we’d allow the sale to take place, our view is it is better these items are sold."

Hot, just only for this link

No probs guys!

Heres what the chap from Tesco said, if you cant be bothered to click the link!

'We take great care to ensure our prices are accurately labelled, the shelf edge label will show the price that you should pay for a product. This will be the price you pay at the checkout, the price labelled should not affect the accuracy of the labelling.

There are some occasions when discontinued products go beyond the "reduced to clear" period and we feel that is is best we sell these items at very low prices, rather than throwing them away, which is why some items will be charged at a penny.

If it comes through the till at that price, we will sell it at that price.'

Hope this helps,
Vince - Customer Care

There seem to be a lot of these supposed Tesco deals only at certain stores like Great Yarmouth.
Funny that...

You found this in tesco in risca? Are you sure, as was just in there and didn't see any...can you confirm if it was from this store, where you found them in store and if any were left? Thanks

I doubt the local store staff do any of these reductions, they'd be done at head office centrally.

We have 2 Tesco Extras here and they don't sell most of these supposed offers.
I find it hard to believe that stores in areas that are widely known as economically deprived like Great Yarmouth ever stocked this sort of stuff in the first place.
