£30 quid for a radio? no thanks I can think of better thing to spend my money on:?:?

Good price.

What are fishermen going to do when the LW transmitters are switched off and replaced with DAB?

Fantastic price , I have this already and its superb. I paid £54.99 last christmas and was looking for another as a gift so at £29.99 plus p&p I've snapped it up , cheers

Pity there aren't any pocket ones. I was going to buy a Pure one but never got around to it.

Heat from me though - good prices.

Thanks OP. Been after the Siesta for a while at a decent price.

Shame Chill has just been taken off the air in my area tho

Looks like the Black Siesta has sold out , only White left now

Do you know if you can switch off the display at night for 'total darkness'? Don't ask.. I had a look at the Pure web site but couldn't find that info. Thanks..

When you turn off the lights in the room the Display on the clock automatically dims. Thats another reason I really like this as I dont like the usual bright displays from clocks. This one doesnt affect me

I have been looking for a DAB radio alarm clock. Would people recommend this product as an alarm clock, or are there cheaper and better DAB alarm clocks out there??

I picked up one of these in a Sainsburys store in Cardiff a couple of days ago for £24.99.

Quick summary of my thoughts on this model...

The sound quality from the mono speaker is ok for an alarm clock, not great, but listenable to for a while. The display is clear and auto dims when the lights go out. You can set three different alarms - set them up for weekedays, weekends, radio, buzzer, etc. The alarm set up is a little protracted, but fine ones you know what you're doing - I worked it out without reading the instructions. Setting up the alarms is certianly simpler with than the BUSH DAB clock radio I had before. The Siesta has a mini USB input - don't quite me on this, but I understand the firmware can be updated and will support DAB+ when it comes out. Built quality seems ok, but it is a bit plasticky.

IMHO a solid buy at £30. Happy with mine.

Cheaper, possibly shopping around, better at this price? doubtful especially with them being a quality brand like Pure. Personally I use a Pure Bug as a DAB alarm clock, has far more features than these, but certainly not cheaper, and no display dimmer...but I am more than happy with my Bug.

my second cdiscount purchase in three days after the archos deals on thursday!..

Anyway, I've happily owned a pure bug and evoke flow in my time, so expect this one to be good too!..

spooky we were both posting about our bugs at the same time. Mine suffered a small accident and is in radio heaven...

I have been a Bug user for a couple of years or more. The main issues I have with it are :

* Using earphones at low volume results in a background hiss.
* The lowest brightness setting is too bright.

I was tempted to go for the Siesta as I thought it would overcome these issues but as the black is sold out I will stick with the Bug. I am sure I should be able to get some coloured transparent adhesive film to reduce the brightness on the display.

EDIT : Looks like the white one is out of stock now too.

you can set it so it is on low when you're using the controls and completely off when you are not. Then just touch any button if you want to see the time. Bob is your uncle....

Not had any issues with my Bug, I have owned mine for a couple of yeats and really happy..however I never use earphones......can understand the brightness issue, but doesn't bother myself or the wife......these Siestas certainly are better size wise as alarm clocks, but it all depends on where they are situated, my Bug sits happily on a corner shelf in the bedroom..although sadly The Bug and Bug too are now deleted, sound quality is better than mono units.

The brightness isn't too much of a problem for me but my girlfriend isn't too impressed. I've told her to close her eyes! And I only use the earphones if I wake up during the night when my girlfriend is staying so I don't wake her up. It's a shame as the unit is quality in other aspects.

Other than that I love my Bug. I've used the recording facility a few times though it is fussy about the SD card it uses.

Anyway - missed out on the Siesta anyway.

Why would they close LW off when the changeover is from FM to digital?

I thought all the analogue were being closed for sell off.
