Pure Gym Altrincham £10.99 per month for 12 months + £15 Joining Fee (no contract)

Pure Gym is opening a new site in Altrincham (by the Metrolink Station / House of Fraser) and is currently offering membership at £10.99 per month for the first 12 months with no contract. There's a £15 joining fee instead of the normal £25 (although I've seen deals for no joining fee in the past). After 12 months it'll go up to £17.99.

The membership includes classes (their flyers are promising over 50 per week, but I think I'd struggle to do more than 20, tops ) and there's free parking for up to 2 hours with each visit. I popped in today because I was passing and I have to say that it looked very well equipped.

Anyway, I hope it may be useful to some!

Lots of these all around and reasonably cheaper than other gyms. If you want a gym for working out and plenty of equipment this is for you. If you want a gym for the scene and posing it's not for you.

£11 a month to lick other men's sweat off the barbells, great!

Ndybucky I think you'd be best Saving up for a rent boy pal. Licking barbells is frown upon at puregym

Good deal

How many people actually go after the first few weeks? I only join the gym when I'm suffering bad constipation because with all the neckless neanderthals around, nobody notices my grunting.

Someone also tell the ladies that there's a level above one on those machines.

I joined at £10.99 2 years ago and will pay this price for life. Best value gym !

lol believe it or not, in my local Puregym I've seen quite a lot of younger ones taking selfies while jogging on treadmills or posing in front of changing room mirrrors. Some of them even wearing make-ups and not in exercising suits. Welcome to the 21st century.

good value

They easily fill 50 classes a week at my local

You need to book in advance just to get a space

Love PureGym Coventry - superb value, well run and staff that actually give a crap. Highly recommended!

Yes it is.

very good gym's, been using one in Birmingham, plenty of machines, and equipment to use. Kept clean and a good variety of kit. Also cheaper than most of the other high st brand gyms. Highly recommend it BUT only if ppl are going to take going seriously, this is not one of the basic gyms.

Been going to the Birmingham gym for 2 years and on the old contract so I'm paying £16 for life and have access to a secondary puregym for free.

Nice budget gym, better priced than I was paying for Virgin gym which was £45.

I was looking to do this same deal in the soon to open Paisley branch but it seemed to be that you pay monthly even before it's opened. Can anyone elaborate on this? I assume they can't charge you for a gym that's not opened, but it appeared that way when I started the joining form.

Looks good for cardio. Average for strength/hypertrophy training.

Oner power rack (not a great one at that) and DB's only go up to 36kg. Alright if you do bicep curls 5 days a week but if you're fairly strong you will soon grow out of that 36kg limit. Just a heads up.

EDIT: Also no conventional barbell bench. Could improvise by pulling an adjustable into the power rack but still its a downfall. Bet you can't deadlift there either..

Have a look out for the sign up fee discount codes, I managed to join york at 9.99/month for 12 months with no joining fee.
It'll be 18.99 from January 2015, but even that seems worth it

Your first payment comes out along with the £15 joining fee straight away but then the next payment comes out the second month after it opens, so you are not paying for any month it is not open yet.

Hope that makes sense.

You can also freeze your payment at anytime, say you are going on holiday and won't use it that month or have too many bills to pay, and can't afford it , which is a good feature

Just make sure to stay away from the Acton one. They have a serious leaking problem from the flat drainage pipes above so smells like a sewer inside most of the time.

'Thanks100' for 100% off joining fee.

Sure, that makes sense. It seemed strange but wasn't very clear. Thanks

They are merging with thegymgroup, thegymgroup have brilliant gyms, i am a member for 20.99 a month which gives me access to all of the chains across the UK

Joined up last night and checked it out. Really impressed for the price, just hoping they keep it in good repair and it doesn't get ridiculously busy. They seem to have plenty of kit, tho I'm only interested in the free weights area. Two squat racks and I didn't have to wait to get on at any time.

I used to trek to DW gym near the Trafford Centre, which was decent but nightmare traffic depending when you went. I can walk to this one which is a good warmup in itself.

Girlfriend likes the look of the classes too so she'll be joining up, and the chap I spoke to when I got there said they'd be reviewing the classes in a week or two depending on the demand since opening.
