Awful sound quality, 6 Mar 2006

I was looking forward to receiving my Bug radio but what a disappointment. The sound, at even moderate volume, is distorted and buzzes on high notes. What is the point of clear DAB reception if poor quality speakers are fitted. Not recommended if you are remotely interested in sound

And here's a review of the alyernative model you suggested - ]http//ww…k_w

each to their own i guess but the heatometer shows what people think at the end of the day.

If this is the original Bug then this deal is cold. I have one and it does not have an Off button - you have to hold down the multi-function button for 2 seconds to switch it off, and if you hit the button wrong, you can get lost in a maze of menus. It sounds like a small detail but believe me you have to try it to find out just how infuriating it is. Bug II comes with an Off button, because Pure knew they'd forked up.

The sound quality is OK. Not everyone wants a radio of this size, looking this (cough) distinctive, hogging their windowsill. Smaller, cheaper, fully portable dab radios are becoming more common. And of course DAB is now being superseded by DAB II (can't remember the proper name for the new standard) and I don't believe a firmware upgrade will be enough to make this model compatible. So you'd end up with a big, obsolete radio of debatable looks.

But if you simply must have one by a refurb from Morgan - they're cheaper at £50 plus VAT.

I got a refurb one for £30 a while ago from eBuyer!

I've had the newer version for some time now (called the Bug Too). Sound seems quite acceptable, much better than I've heard on other DAB sets.
Really useful function is the record to SD card function. You can set multiple recording events from the weeks programme guide and record many hours of radio on a 2Gig SD card.
Been worth the money just for that feature. Same function as you get on their top of the range model. Works just like a PVR recorder.
The buttons are a bit fiddly but you soon get used to that.
Not sure if the old Bug model is as upgradeable as the Bug Too.

The bug isn't that bad but not worth the money. I've just had one fail on me after about 3 years and think I'll replace it with a 20 quid DAB radio from Tesco or Asda.

Only decent feature was the record to SD card and the buttons are small and fiddly and it's a ****** to turn off

Hi,so you actually get influenced by the way peeps vote on here :w00t: ,sorry so Funny

Cheers BOB

ok it aint the best thing on the market....sound quality is ok ..menu is ridiculously user non friendly, like the off button..but tbh it sits in my kitchen so looks quite funky!!! so i like it cos of its look

ooo didnt know there was a dabII whats that all about?
