You can't really argue with that price. These types of gym are fantastic value.

I can never understand why gyms are so prohibitively expensive for most "normal" people. surely if more "normal" people had access to gyms, you'd certainly make inroads on the number of obese people in the country

You wouldn't really as us normal people tend to go twice and then swerve it for the rest of the year (and that's with an expensive membership...making it cheaper would only make me feel less guilty about not going).

I don't know. if more gyms - I'm looking at you Bannatyne - followed this example and pricepoint and also offered sessions where the usual gym rats and muscle bound marys can train apart from the wobbly people, i do think you'd get more people going.

I don't see why you need to keep folk apart. I used to feel that at first when I went to the gym, but you get less self conscious the more you go. I do free weights in amongst the big boys & no-one gives you hassle when you're lifting smaller weights. Most folk are just concentrating on what they're there to do.

Council gyms are far too expensive & run down. We keep getting told about the legacy of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, however I've yet to see any improvements round my way. Maybe athletes will have better places to train, but the larger populous will see no benefit. Thankfully we now have affordable quality gyms with likes of PureGym & The Gym Group.

Stupid gym is demanding I get a £100 doctor's note to join. They demand this AFTER I pay for membership. I'm 27 with no health problems. WTF.

Why would you need one? That's pathetic of them. No gym has ever asked me for one before.

They ask you insanely vague questions when you join, and I ticked something I shouldn't have. Then even if you've made a mistake and accidentally ticked a box, they don't let you go back to edit it. I've emailed the manager. Very disappointed if they won't let me join without the note as it was so cheap and so conveniently located
