keep out of reach of children..?

would be better off buying a 3m whip from the local tackle shop or ebay but it's only 3 quid so can't complain too much
For £2.99 starter kit, really can't go wrong. I bought my we lassie something similar a few years ago ( not just as cheap) and loves fishing now. Small telescopic rods are ideal for kids to keep in caravans, car boots etc, and even more fun when they hook into a stockie rainbow Nice find OP

Why would you buy something similar for a dog?!

    Weirdo
spend a further 50p and buy a proper float but just hope you don't hook a big carp otherwise bye bye rod lol.
I dread to think how crap that reel must be..!!!!
    don't forget delivery charges £3.49.

    Its instore as well.
£2.99 for rubbish.... I've seen 3 of these in use, all 3 were brand new, all 3 reels failed, 1 when the kid hooked a small Mackerel, the gears failed - made of lead or some crap.... (had to open it up to try and fix it) the other 2 lots failed just by casting out and reeling in... £2.99 is better spent towards a £15 reel, loads of good branded reels available even cheaper, a rod £12, you'd still need decent line, hooks etc anyways so better to buy something something decent that wont break the bank but avoid this crap because it will just BREAK.
Go outdoors do a decent starter combo for a tenner or so that has caught my son trout up to 4lbs.

The only thing you will catch with one of these is a cold
Instead of people throwing negatives at it. Why not replace the crude comments with suggestions for lake/river/breakwater fishing?
You can't go wrong for 3 quid. You could use it as a disposable fishing rod I suppose. Handy......

We bought this set last year and I hate to say, it was a complete waste of money. The only good to come out of it was that we got to meet a very nice fisherman - he was next to us on the river bank and felt sorry for us with our flimsy set. He spent a long time talking us through the basics and letting our children have a go using his proper fishing rod and whip. On his advice we bought a telescopic whip which has been much better for the kids.
This type of thing can be very useful in the office. One of our team announced one day that he was now on a diet - so we used this type of device to dangle a packet of crisps in front of his face all day....

Just about all fishing tackle sold in the UK is made in China but it doen't mean it is the same quality as it is made to the spec of who buys it.
