Good price for this set!

This Pyrex 4-piece roaster and casserole dish set comes in 2 different sizes to suit different cooking needs. Made from toughened glass, they have a high thermal shock resistance, so can be used in conventional ovens up to 300ºC and are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe. The dishes are stain resistant and give no flavour transfers, and are finished with handles for easier handling.

Can someone enlighten me how thermally processed glass that can easily survive 230°C in the oven could "explode" by just touching it? I don't think so...

Ooh when I was young I had an Atari 65XE.
Very good price , heat for me
Asda and Wilko's are also selling Pyrex off at present. The casseroles (with lid) and roasters are available at £4 each in Asda. Got 2 the other day, jugs and mixing bowls as well. They had small casseroles at £3 as well. Might work out cheaper if you buy them seperate.

I made gravy in a Pyrex bowl and it exploded. I heard a fracture sound shortly after pouring the hot water and knew I had about a second before the thing shattered! Turned away to make sure my eyes were facing away and any glass shards would go in my lower back (there weren’t any in my back luckily as had a jumper on).

yikes, that could have been nasty. When they go they really go dont they.
They used to make Pyrex out of borosilicate glass, but now make it out of soda glass. Borosilicate is better at coping with thermal shock than soda glass. Once they changed over to soda lime that was the end of Pyrex being handed down from one generation to another (two left thumbs aside).

Just to complicate things though some Pyrex is still made out of borosilicate depending on the manufacturing facility. The stuff made in France should be still good to go and shouldn't suffer as badly from blowing up in your face.
Ah, these are the French made ones, should be good!
