This is my set up, only I have the 3020 as rears rather than the 3010s.

It is absolutely fantastic!

Ahh if only I had the money myself.
Good price, about the same as I paid building the set myself from eBay and Richer Sounds sales without the hassle and a decent warranty

what's the difference with the 3050i pack? (other than being double in price)

I presume it uses the newer 'i' version speakers?
Great price, try and get the 3010s swapped for 3020s if you can
Good deal, nice package other than the sub, but you can upgrade that at a later time
Have had this set with the Denon AVR-X2400 for almost two years and it's been faultless. I was going to replace the 3010 with 3020 but there really is no need when they're rears. The sub is a bit of a weak spot and I'd love to replace it. It's not bad, but it lacks the impact of a decent 12", though you could pay this and more for that alone. That said, it certainly has enough impact to annoy neighbours if you don't live in a detatched house!

Great price for the speakers on their own. I paid this price technically, as my AVR was £329 at the time and I paid £980 in total for the bundle. More so when you consider the 3050 front L&R were £600 on their own when launched and they were widely regarded among the best floor standers under £1000!

I have the same front and centre speakers. For rear I am reusing an existing Epos pair with an XTZ 12.17 Edge sub. Absolutely fantastic both for music and movies.
I have B&W 685 S2 as fronts, Qac 3020 as rear sides and the 3090 center. My weak point is my sub needs upgrading. Get to turn it up half way a few times a year lol Anyone recommend a decent sub?

If you can stretch to the qb12?
I'm holding out for a deal on one
this is a bit of a stretch, but would anyone know if these would be worth the upgrade from a Tannoy HTS201 set?

What's the usage? If purely for film, you will struggle to get more bang for buck than a BK Monolith, though they're huge but under £500. So huge they're delivered on a pallet! Then there's the Monolith+ under £600 with better driver and a 500W amp. Beyond that you have the likes of SVS though you're up into £800 and well beyond that there.

Music and films I would go for something sealed like a BK P12 or XXLS400. All available in front firing or downward firing.

bkelec.com/ind…htm

BK also has an ebay store that sells B grade stock for a good saving:

ebay.co.uk/sch…om=

I don't work for BK but they are a favourite on AV Forums and well regarded. People also struggle to find marks on B grade items from their ebay store. They're not the absolute best, but best value and they're designed and build in the UK and offer excellent aftersales support and out of warranty repairs. I want to upgrade to one but you'd need to have very understanding or deaf neighbours in a typical UK home.

Thanks for responding. Usage is 50% Film 30%Gaming and 20%music. Id prob say my budget would be max £300 on just a sub. I can go higher but don't see the point if rest of my speakers need upgrading to compliment it so prefer to stay in lane. Would you recommend anything around that price?

BK Gemini also gets good reviews at below that price point. Most if not all of their subs output would be hard to match for the pricepoint as they only sell direct. Couple of posts about it on AV Forums.

The Double Gem pops up on their ebay store in my other post for about £340 delivered. It's basically two Gemini's in one box.

My set is arriving tomorrow. So you think it's worth just letting the sub in the box and asking for it to be swapped with for example Monitor Audio W10? I've read very mixed reviews about the sub, many saying it's more than enough for the system and others saying it's really bad.

The thing is, it's good enough if you don't know what you're missing. I was happy with the whole system as it totally surpassed any one-box surround system I had before it, including a not cheap Pioneer system. It was only when I heard, or should I say felt a decent 12" that goes down below 20hz. It certainly has enough punch to shake a modest sized room and as above, if it's in a room along an attached wall, enough to really annoy neighbours if you crank the AVR up towards reference volume. I'm not an expert, so can only judge what I have heard. If it's your first decent system you will be happy with it I'd say. I still get enjoyment out of mine and the only thing stopping me replacing it is consideration for others as I don't live in a detached house.

Q Acoustics are renowned for making great value speakers but not subwoofers. I'm not sure the W10 would be much of a step up but I haven't heard it. A lot of the guys on AV Forums seem to have Monitor Audio speakers, but run them with BK or SVS subs. BK only make subwoofers, which they only sell direct, hence such great value with no hi-fi dealer middlemen. They have also built subs for other manufacturers including REL. They're so highly regarded for being the best value, above that you have the likes of SVS but you're up into £800+ there for an SB2000 or £1500 for an PB3000!

For £650 you can't complain for the audio quality you get with the package, that's guaranteed.

Thanks for that. I guess I should first listen to the system and see what it's like. I'm judging the sub without even hearing it.
You make a point that W10 might not be much of an upgrade but might be easier for me as Peter Tyson allow returns and swaps which might be easier for me.
I just feel like I don't want to miss out and everyone is so obsessed with bass but a good sub actually costs more that this whole 5.1 set

Well after 2 weeks with the system I can say that it's a wonderful bundle and Q Acoustics speakers sound brilliant. Sadly for my living room the 3070s was just way too small. So I ended up getting BK XXLS400 which is a wonderful sub. I mean 3070s is not a bad sub just underpowered for my living room.

Oh you're a bad, bad man. If I don't get out of lockdown quick I could go the same route! Glad you're enjoying the system. The XXLS400 is well regarded a great sub for the money.
