Tempted as I already have 3050i fronts, 2050i rears and a 3090 centre, but the sub seems to be the weakest part of the 3000 series
It’s a good sub but doesn’t shake the room as a 12incher would do. For music and standard movies etc that sub is awesome. Especially the price. Unreal the quality you are getting here. This should be blazing hot in here.
Great sounding sub, well put together and fits into spaces many others won't.
Not a big fan of this sub, I bought one a while back and the size and shape makes it difficult to accommodate. Wish I'd picked up a normal square one. OK for movies not great for music, not that deep and dont really feel it

I had the 2000 series sub, and agree with most of the comments here. Not a 'presence' sub at all. Fills in some of the lower end not presented by the fronts. But there are better subs out there.
Bk xls200 or even a gemini would be better.
All depends on the size of the room and how much space you have and what earth shuttering sound (or not) you want. Klipsch does some excellent subs for very little money. They look the part as well.
As a newbie what’s the ideal set up for a home cinema/music?

For an relatively decent setup: an AV receiver (£150-£300), pair of bookshelf speakers (£100-200) and a sub-woofer (£150-£300).
I can't fault q acoustics at all but the Cambridge Audio Aero 9 sub is currently the same price and is much better (a heck of a lot more powerful too) incidentally the CA aero 9 integrates really really well with the q acoustics q7000i in my own experience much better than this sub or the other q acoustics subs. I reckon for the money the aero 9 is the best sub you can spend £180 on, it's tight response and ability to go deep aren't possible without spending more. cambridgeaudio.com/gbr…o-9

Well at 500watts with front & down woofers it deff blows the QA out the water. Have 2 for my 5.2.4 setup and they are absolutely worth it kinda considering buying a 3rd for another room . CA also selling via Amazon for same price.

Agree with most of the comments above. I bought one a few weeks ago to replace a failed Tannoy Tfx sub. I have to say I have been underwhelmed so far but this is a very good price so will give some heat.

I've just order the Cambridge Audio Aero 9. Seems like a slightly better deal than this. I ordered direct from CA rather than Amazon for the 2 year warranty. Voted hot though as this a great deal

Ive just picked one up, for that price you cant go wrong and it'll tide me over till i can convince the wife that i need a BK Monolith

Ah okay hadn't realised. Their site says if you order direct. But then it doesn't say if you you don't. Probably just requires registration. Ah well never mind, Amazon would have been better for the ease of returning and the customer service but hopefully won't need any of that 🤞

I just tried posting the Cambridge Audio URL - not allowed as not enough on-line reviews of Cambridge Audio!

So tried posting the Amazon link - price just gone back up to £249 (and on Cambridge Audio site)!

Lost me some heat there :/

Cheers for the deal OP, just purchased to compliment my 3060s .

As for the negative comments, you can't get better for the money.

And you don't "feel" bass when using the sub for it's intended purpose, movies.

They're not primarily with music in mind.

Moreover, if your system is set up properly then the bass isn't directional, meaning you can't pick out where the sub is placed.

You just hear bangs and explosions in synch with the other speakers.

And if your sub is rocking your room, so you feel it dominating every scene, you've set it up incorrectly.

Are bk subs worth it for like extra £200 Vs this

As with everything in hifi the difference becomes thinner and thinner after certain price point. Also I try to demo them as it depends on your preference
Have some heat because it's amazing price, but I personally went with a bk gemini although I have the 3020s. Just too many negative reviews about the 3070s (plus couldn't find the walnut colour to match my fronts!)
I was considering this when I bought my q acoustics 3050 and 3090c. But ended up getting a used XTZ 12.17 for £250 on ebay and that made a massive difference to my home theater setup.

You can get better for the money mate, the aero 9 is substantially better, it's not a negative this is a good deal for this sub but it's also still valid that the aero 9 is more in line with subs costing £300+ and offers much better value and much better performance it's just the way it is, if you specifically want the QA sub then this is a great price for it but if you want the best for the this price its the aero 9.

Cheapest price on the Aero 9 I can see is £249.00.

So, this deal is still better by over £60 .

Yep, unfortunately the Aero 9 went back up to £249 from £179 yesterday (I just got in in time, it arrives today).

So this deal is indeed better at the mo. I have a pair of Q Acoustics BT3s and they are excellent. I'm sure these subs are great for this money. It's a hot from me

I've had a demo of this speaker and wasn't overly impressed.
Problem with subs is, if they don't perform after purchasing you wish you'd spent more. I've made that mistake but never again.

The sub is probably the most important speaker in a HT setup as it makes the most impact on the overall sound experience. In my opinion this is why you should perhaps save the pennies longer and get that better brand or model.

The Aero 9 mentioned here is OK however it's only a 10" driver and the cabinet size does fall short of the recommended 50 litre minimum. Not sure if this was the model that some users experienced rattling problems. At 250 normal price a BK sub would be a better choice.

This might be OK for a smaller room however I've not seen this model in action. The driver is only 8" which is not going to dig that deep. With regards to the wireless function read any relevant reviews. Wireless speakers can cause 'delay' and once introduced into the bass soundtrack would be catastrophic especially while watching a movie.

I would not recommend really going below a 10" driver with 12" being my personal favourite size with regards to performance vs price.

Went for a BK gemini 2 second hand in the end for £50. Seems pretty decent!
