QED HDMI-P £14.99 @ tesco *instore*

First deal so go easy!

I was in tescos Broadstairs (Kent) and noticed they have a large stock of QED HDMI 1.3 Cables (QED HDMI-P 2m)
This says its reduced by £20 but the retail price is £50 - whathifi.com/Rev…-P/
I know people love to argue about HDMI cables but for £15 and it has rave reviews why ever not?

"why ever not?"

Because you can save yourself £10+

Only fork out on better quality cables if you need 3m or greater. If not just get them for £2 off amazon

You have gone and opened up a can of worms here X) . Its hot for me when you compare the price of the SAME cable to else where. God please lets not let this thread end up as a rant about gold plating and 1&0's ( ok i can hope)

Basic rule .....Ignore anything WhatHifi says about any cables or Sony products....

£2, £15 or £30 HDMI cables, are hard to tell any difference apart from looks, & how often do you want cables hanging out in front of the system units for every one to see?

As we all know an HDMI cable either works or doesn't work. And all cable's that "work" give identical picture and sound quality. Saying that though, a better brand of cable might be more durable and last longer than a cheap one, so choose your cable for it's build quality, not because it might improve your picture or sound. As for the what Hifi reviews on digital cables, they must all have been written on April 1st.

just proves you know nothing about data transmission

quite fitting that it was Tesco Broadstairs as you'd need to be mad to pay £15 for one of these.

The Amazon cable is 1.3b compliment, same as this. There is no difference.

who said they wanted cables hanging out for people to see its just build quality people and guarantee are after - also qed cables usually come with a 10 year no questions asked guarantee bet your £2, £5 one doesnt..i use chord, qed or cheaper cable mountain cables...i got them cheap or free and i certainly wouldnt pay silly money but ive used cheap ones and they are generally awful quality, with a few exceptions like cable mountain

was referring to your 1's and 0's...dont change the context muppet

read this with your friends who keep spouting 1's and 0's who clearly do not know what they are talking about. You might learn something about DATA TRANSMISSION (DT)....ive worked in telecoms/it for 22 years so i know a thing or two and this explains it quite well i think, DT is alot more compex than people think and if you think 1's and 0's travel along the cable then this is especially for you

hifipage.com/do-…41/
hifipage.com/the…28/

its what i and gizmouk (he's been a telco engineer/manager for >20 years and you muppets would rather believe 'joey i know nothing') have been saying and gave up!!

i mean yes quality cabling is alot more expensive (though i wouldnt pay £50+ for a cable tbh!!) but come on you just paid maybe £1K or more on a tv and blu ray player and you will skimp a few quid on a cable....its like going to gordon ramseys restaurant and ordering the best steak you can buy and pouring a tin of smartprice beans on it

I only paid £1.49 with free delivery for a cable from Amazon. It arrived next day and I was surprised how good quality it was. Very well made, looks functional, but its not purple.

yeh thats just plain silly price.....everything has a limit where extra benefit (if any) isnt worth the extra outlay

Don't waste your time, you may as well try to explain DAC's and error correction while you're at it, but it wont make the slightest bit of difference to this lot.

Read your post and I may learn something? All you seam to have posted is that a BMW costs a lot of money and trabants can be bought with peanuts. You are trying to put people off buying cheap cables by claiming you've used some and they were awful quality, without stating what happened when you used them.

I personally have several hdmi cables from poundland, and I can categorically state that every bit of data that travels down one of these cheap cables is understood with 100% accuracy by the device at the other end.
If you have a digital cable that is not performing adequately, you will get blocking, freezing, gaps in sound etc, the same as you do on Sky digital when there's too much falling snow or heavy rain interrupting your signal, and it will be totally obvious something is wrong.

For what it is worth, here is my tuppence worth based on my experiences over past four odd years. I have 4 HDTV's in my house, all connected to 2 Sky HD boxes, using splitters. All cables cost less than 2 quid except for the 15 metre cable which cost £3.99 on ebay. Never had one problem with any TV's picture quality. All TV's display HD images perfectly with no sparklies, etc.
So maybe I have just been lucky with cheapo HDMI cables.

Does the price or supposed build quality of the HDMI cable have the remotest impact on the picture quality? No. Build quality is a valid argument but I'd rather take my chances on 50 £1 cables than 1 £50 cable. I must have bought about 10 el cheapo HDMI cables of varying length - only ever had one problem and I think I caused that ...

It's a digital signal - anybody going on about paying more for these cables knows nothing about electronics. Hi-Fi cables have been an ongoing scam for years

Surely the point here is it's a good price for this product, irrespective of whether 'you' would buy one or not! Have some heat.

WOW - Thats quite a tender subject I seen to have posted on. I put it up as I know many people that love QED cables and thought I would share the shockingly good deal as they refuse to accept the argument that it doesnt really matter. (I have a cable from argos, ebay and ebuyer (and a free one from monster) They are all perfectly fine but if I had a nice new top of the range TV I almost certaily fork out for one of these. Anyone seen the Monster VS coat hanger real test! Analogue interconnects are a licence to print money. Back to the point: Bigger flashier cables dont make it go faster but sure look cool!

Burton-Upon-Trent had only one but I needed two, could not find the label on the shelf but scanned at £24.99.

Then went to Lichfield and they had around 30, but were marked up at £19.97 - scanned at £24.99, but got for £19.97 as the label showed that price :-)
