There are no cheap and nasty alternatives that do the same job to the same standard. If you want top notch digital transfer you need this cable! QED seems to be the ultimate brand in quality cables. They dont just look good, they are engineered.

This is a genuine bargain if you value sound quality, safety and durability. Hope this helps someone.

Its a digital signal so a cheap alternative will either work, or it won't, just like expensive versus cheap HDMI cables.

My advice, save some money and buy a cheaper optical cable as the sound quality will be exactly the same.

The QED looks pretty but TBH I can't see the two optical cables I use as they are hidden behind my Receiver.

EDIT You will NOT be buying the very pretty cable in the photo above, you will be buying the "cheaper" QED Profile model as pictured in the Ebay listing. Seehere for confirmation of QED Profile

I love the gold plating. This is an OPTICAL cable; there is no electrical connection. Plating the plug with gold will have zero effect on anything. You won't even be able to see the gold when it is plugged in.

LOL They must be using premium grade glass in these cables.

well numpties will fall for this, theres no diff wiv cheap ones, same goes for hdmi

cold

lol at anyone who buys it

Poundland's where you should go. Stone cold.

Cold from me I'm afraid, no need to pay this much especially for only 1m. Can find perfectly good optical cables for much less elsewhere.

I have to laugh at this, the only benefit you would receive from this cable is it would be more durable than £1 cable. Durability would only be an issue if your plugging and unplugging daily but then again for the rrp you could buy 20.
Attenuation won't be a problem over a few meters even through cheap fibres.
I've always thought that it's the big electrical stores that have created a market for this junk, forcing gold plated rcas and scarts on people with their new purchases back in the day, now things have moved digital the expensive cable manufacturers are having to turn to better marketing than a better product.

What a waste of gold. They could make it from toilet paper or jelly for the difference it makes.

Or obviously just plastic before some pedantic objects to a little sarcasm.

Poundland had optical cables in a week or so ago...for (wait for it...) a pound !

x3 on the poundland optical leads - and the HDMI cables (when stocked)

The internet will kill these companies soon (hopefully).

Sorry, but why exactly do you need quality when you plug it in the once and should never need to touch it ever again! If it works, it works, full stop.

These companies (in conjunction with the complicit hifi media/magazines) have supported ripping off consumers with unneccessary cables for years. I'm sorry, but it's time they gave up the ghost.
