Great to hear that magicfarawaytree, most people on the reviews report that they achieve half hour use on one charge too. I will only need around 10-15 mins so plenty for me! :o)
I was struggling to find a good one for £60 on Amazon so didn't hang about when I spotted this

As far a im aware Qualcast i made by Bosch or for Bosch

Qualcast is a brand name used under licence by Argos and Homebase (HRG). The machines at Argos are not made by Bosch nor Qualcast, come to that.

I believe the Qualcast name is licensed to Homebase/Argos to use on their own products. I do not believe there is much tie in with Bosch nowadays (it normally says so on the device - my 6 year old Qualcast lawnmower says engineered by Bosch)

Maybe the confusion is Bosch bought Flymo. Isn't the Qualcast brand actually owned by Argos, home shopping group. Basically they use it to rebrand generic Chinese tools but then the same is true of many brands nowadays even Bosch although Bosch usually cosmetically re-skin such products. Argos have quite a few brands they own, off the top of my head I can only think of Bush and Alba but I think there are quite a few more.

Bought this a year ago (for £10 more) and its been great. Tackles anything I throw at it. I have never had it run out of charge on me yet with my maximum use being around 20 mins. Im still on the first spool of line which is excellent compared to others Ive tried (it comes with 2 full spools). I really like its ability to be used to edge the lawn and it does a great job. I would recommended it highly at the price I paid so at this price its a bargain.

Bought this myself last summer. Paid £54.99. It's a quality product. Good battery life, powerful enough for the job and it twists and turns nicely for edging and strimming. Bargain at this price!

I bought one of these about a month ago and its excellent. I have used it to do the common trimming tasks half a dozen times and its still on its first charge.

I bought a qualcast electric strimmer from Argos the other week, it lasted 2 minutes and then went up in smoke, all the motor melted. Indeed it said on the side it was made for Argos.

Thanks - ordered & heat added. Been waiting for a deal on a decent cordless strimmer as the auto-feed on my corded B&D has packed up; I thought a new spool would fix it but no. Anyway this will be more convenient for the 5-10 mins it takes to strim the lawn edges. Don't see any Topcashback for Click & Collect now though.

Is chicken easy to look after..? With feeding and shelter. Also electric barrier protection against foxes. Have a large garden but just need to convince my other half that they are low maintenance.

Bosch Qualcast answer..

Qualcast is an English brand, based in Derbyshire, that started making lawn mowers in 1920. Its first mower was a hand-push cylinder and the brand is still well known for cylinder mowers, including the Atco and Suffolk Punch range. Qualcast is now owned by Bosch, which in January 2011 signed an eight-year licence agreement with the Home Retail Group (Argos and Homebase) for exclusive use of the Qualcast name.

Very easy, I have a 10 foot fence to keep them in their 'area' and I'm lucky enough to have a walled garden so no problems from foxes. I had a couple of rats, but have dealt with them by blocking entrance holes and adding poison, seems to have done the trick.

The chickens themselves are very very easy to look after with a good setup. I have a large hut for them, and 2 different areas for them. One is roofed over, with sawdust to scratch in, and one is fully outdoors with woodchips to scratch. They are very happy and are fully free range. I change water and food and collect eggs every 2-3 days

Anyone had a problem with it not starting? I've used mine twice and it's not switching on after a full charge.

I haven't had mine delivered yet but it does come with a 2 year guarantee and the reviews don't show any cause for concern so you may have just been unlucky and got a dud. Argos have always been really easy to exchange when I've had issues so hopefully they'll sort you out a replacement.

This looks pretty good and yeah cordless is the way to go since you can finally enjoy doing the garden!

but how long does it take to charge this thing? if its one of those insane devices that take 12 to15 hours and then last 30-40 minutes really does my noggin in.

3-5 hours to charge according to the instructions but reviews say it takes 3 hours

A couple of people state it takes an hour to charge on the Argos site . What intrigues me more is that Argos don't stock replacement spools or replacement batteries

Bought one today at Argos parkhead Glasgow.
A cracking lightweight strimmer, just read the reviews on Argos it's all good for under 40 quid.

So you look elsewhere for replacement spool. It took me less than 30 seconds to find it on amazon.

....chickens!!?! Lol

Hi, how do you charge it? Does the battery, release from the strimmer. Or is it a complete unit and have to bring the strimmer itself inside to charge? Thanks

I assume the battery detaches to be charged as one reviewer suggested buying a spare battery so you can use one while the other is being charged

You're quite right, either I was looking at Homebase or the cashback for Argos changed after I posted, either way I have removed cashback from the post :o)

I bought this last year on sale at homebase. Nice lightweight strimmer Battery charges fully in 2 to 3 hours. Battery life is approx 30 mins of continuous use. Good machine for light maintenance work but don't expect it to scythe through long stuff at the allotment.

Good price ! Thanks

Thanks OP - Only need a strimmer for small areas, and this will do nicely. I purchased a B&Q value range strimmer last year and the trigger went faulty a week after the 12 month warranty expired - Can't say that I expected much from a £12 machine. This one has the added bonus of being telescopic and come with an extra spool. It is 4x the price though.

Just get petrol real men have petrol

Bought this yesterday and used it once. Great job and really easy to set up and use. Heat from me.

Petrol lawnmower yes, a petrol strimmer however for most isn't worth the hassle of the extra maintenance. For some a petrol strimmer may be ideal however if you only need to do 10 mins of strimming and a battery lasts 3 times that with no need to buy fuel, carry out oil changes, change spark plugs and drain the fuel tank to store over winter. This to me was an easy choice :o)
Again I'd like to stress that I understand a petrol strimmer will be more powerful and better suited to longer tasks

Can anyone confirm if this is an Einhell built machine, as many Qualcast products are? Specifically, will the Einhell Power X-change batteries fit this model?

Thanks for the post op, I picked one up on my way home on Tue and used in the evening. It's great value for money, Heat Added
