spare battery?

I believe he is referring to the purchase of a second trimmer for the purpose of owning a second battery.

I was about to purchase and assumed Qualcast was still a good quality brand but I just discovered that Argos/Homebase pay money to just use their brand name and stick it on their own in-house products?? (...) It's now apparently one of those rented out meaningless brands. If it said Homebase or Argos on the side of it, how many people would want to buy it lol? Has anyone who owns one of these had any issues with it? Seems to get good reviews on their own websites but I don't know how genuine those are anymore...

Many thanks for clearing that up, appreciated.
How long does it last on one charge?

Had one for 3 months. No issues.

Blades don't move as fast as wired ones I've got, which results in a slightly rougher finish on hedges but the fact it's cordless means I'd still rather use these.
Well - I ended up getting one - thanks to the OP for posting. Just unboxed it - build quality looks and feels better than I expected. The main body is tiny and alot more compact than I thought it would be. It's like a mini-hedge trimmer with a decent sized blade attached to it. You can see it has a really small motor inside - the motor really doesn't look like it could handle very much at all... but will wait and see how it performs. Also, the metal blades on mine were absolutely bone dry with no oil, grease or lubricant at all... I noticed that the manual says the blades come lubricated and in one section it says no additional lubrication is required for maintenance. In another section of the manual it says to oil the blades after each use. Anyway - will definitely have to put oil on these blades 'before' using them as there is literally nothing whatsoever on mine.

Could you give it a try and see if it's any good before I pick mine up

Just tried it out. Manual says it takes 3 - 5 hours to charge but will only charge to 60% on first charge. Mine took about an hour to charge out of the box? Was very impressed. Sliced through everything I used it on effortlessly and still feels like it's just been freshly charged (I used it for about 25 - 30 mins). The blades are visibly REALLY SLOW, yet it cuts perfectly. Mine is super quiet - don't know if that is because I oiled it really well. I cut through some pretty thick and tough branches with no effort - like a knife through butter - I'm assuming it's just cos the blades are new and at their sharpest. Great practical machine. Grab one if you're undecided. Just hope the battery lasts - the machine has a 2 year warranty so should be ok.

Update: Just used it for another 15 mins and it's still going strong on the initial charge with no slow down at all... No burning / cheap electrical smells noticeable - great purchase

Thanks. Really appreciate the review. I've got a garden with a mix of leylandii plus lots of different smaller bushes but the review on Argos about 4mm branches was putting me off. Going to pick it up tomorrow.
Tempted to get one of these to sort out the wifes bush, it's not been trimmed since Minnie Riperton was in the charts, she's so retro!
I'd say if she's let it go past 4mm you might need to start looking for something a bit more industrial.

Qualcast is actually owned by Bosch. There after care service is very good and you can spares for most products.

True but all Qualcast items along with some spear & jackson items sold by Argos/ homebase are owned by Argos (sainsburys group) warranty or after care for these products are not provided by Bosch/qualcast as they are not manufactured by them and has nothing to do with them . Watranty is with Atgos only no matter what they tell you.

If you call Bosch Customer services, you get a recorded message telling you that if you bought a Qualcast item from Homebase or Argos, your warranty has nothing to do with Bosch and says to hang up the phone lol. Also the Qualcast manual even has the manufacturer listed in it as Homebase etc. This product has nothing to do with Bosch.

No - it's a normal 2 sided blade.
I got one today and it's quite light, that's important because you will need to redo it several times as the power very poor compared to a wired. I'll be returning mine.
